The buying policy isd never going to get us to the next level and i'm not sure the owners want that anyway as it may cost money

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted he would find it hard to turn down Real Madrid after saying this year was “difficult” for him and his family.

The Uruguay star is widely regarded as one of the best players in English football but has endured a troubled time in the Premier League, showing genius on the pitch but serving eight and 10 match bans for racially abusing and biting opponents respectively.

Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League again, the former Ajax forward has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs, including Real.

And with Suarez and many associated with Liverpool believing the press and FA have an agenda against the player, he said he could walk out on England.

“I have spoken with my agent and saying no to Real Madrid would be difficult,” Suarez said in an interview with Spanish radio station COPE’s Latin American correspondent Martin Charquero.

“I am happy with Liverpool, I love the club but this year was very difficult for me, my wife and my daughter.

“I have spoken to Brendan Rodgers, and he knows what I want. I have a family, a daughter and I am not prepared to continue this way with the English press.”

Suarez has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

In a separate development, Liverpool have been linked with Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.

Aspas, 25, has scored 12 goals for the Liga strugglers this season. Celta must win their final game of the season and hope results go their way to avoid relegation.

He would cost in the region of £8 million.

We're not contesting it's violent conduct. We are contesting the length of the ban. So there will be a hearing.

This is the bit that's unclear. Are we (LFC) contesting it? There is nothing on the website, or is Suarez contesting it himself ? And we have told him he is on his own

I can't see Luis not having the blessing of the club when disputing the charge. He'll still get 5 games I reckon but maybe, just maybe our dispute will mean they won't dish out a more severe punishment.

I notice that there is nothing on the Official website. Just hope we are supporting him here

It will be interesting to see whether the club grow a pair of bollocks and support Suarez's view that it doesn't warrant any more than 3 game ban.

Amazing as it may seem to you, you don't bung a five year £20mcontract at someone whom you don't want- you just don't renew their existing contract.

 

Ironically if Rafa had refused to discuss a new contract, he would have increased the pressure on G&H such that they may have gone earlier, and he would still have been in a job- another one of his off the field misjudgements.

I think you misjudge their motives for giving him a contract, they hoped that some sucker would pay what they wanted for the club if a Champions League winning Manager was in situ.

I'd have Rafa back tomorrow - just a personal view

A mid table side, mid table manager and a mid table requirement. If we’re are lucky we may finish sixth. Suarez (maybe) gone next year with a mid table replacement and a reduction of the debt, smashin.

This is my fear.

The owners look at the " big picture " If they feel that they can sell Suarez for £40m, for example and then pay £20m for someone else, who, although not as good, will keep us ticking over in upper mid table, I think they would take that.

I take your point re Dempsey and the marketing thing but I reckon Dempsey, and his agents also knew that and probably asked for loads regarding image rights. I agree with you re Coutinho for now, but I reckon they hope they have got him in early and will ( try ) to make him the household name and sell shirts.

I hope we can. But I think we are miles away from where Suarez deserves to be. With Gerrard getting on and Carra going, the Owners want someone to sell shirts etc. I reckon they hope Coutinho will pick up that slack and be marketed to death if Suarez goes

I still think the signing of Coutinho was to smooth the way for Suarez to leave. Our Owners know the importance of a big name and are hoping that Coutinho will be the next one.

I hope Suarez stays but can't see it.
