  1. Making us stronger by selling our best player to a team we are hoping to catch ( one day) is really likely to work
  2. Yet again.... You spectacularly miss the point. There is absolutely nothing to stop them withdrawing the bid of 40 +1 and offering 35 - when he has already talked to them. So you reckon he will need permission to talk again??? Transfer requests usually bring the bid down. As far as the Contract situation. There are ways around this. Some players have clauses to say that a certain bid must be accepted from a top 4 club etc. You cant get more restrictive than that
  3. Rooney - just wanted a pay rise, he got it - I doubt we will be putting a new contract under Suarez's nose anytime soon. Coloccini - Don't think he wanted to leave for the same reasons and I think he got injured in the middle of it all. Benteke - I'm sure they gave him a whopping payrise. Modric - Yes was told to stay - I reckon that also happened with Suarez last year
  4. Technically you are right, but realistically I cant see it, it would require some sort of backbone. I expect he will put a transfer request in very soon
  5. This is the problem though. Once he agrees his wages with Arsenal, the club don't hold all of the cards as Arsenal will tell him to put a transfer request in, not to worry about losing his bonuses as they will add it onto his wages. At that point, they will try to force the price down. And if we have a watered down clause, then why didn't we water it down further and specify that it was only for clubs abroad??
  6. I agree his will end up at Arsenal as players usually get their move. I'd rather sell him cheaper abroad though but it wont happen. LFC grow a pair of balls
  7. The club an hold him to his contract he signed last year. Its not as if he is in his final year and we have flog him to anyone
  8. Once he agrees terms with arsenal, it's a fait acompli and we will be trying to get as much money for him
  9. I'm beginning to think that it may be that he wants to go and the club want to sell him - but both sides want it to look like the other is driving the move
  10. Rodgers now saying that the fans have "treated him like a Son " and that "the support will be in his mind whatever happens" I totally agree with the first bit,but what is this. "whatever happens " bit? Surely we should be telling him to honour the contract with the payrise he only signed last year
  11. He has 3 years left on his Contract. Its not as if he is entering his final year so we have to sell him to whoever. We should stand firm here. If he is sold to another English club, it shows the ambition of LFC
  12. Big kick in the balls for us all if he goes there. Club needs to grow a back bone
  13. He is going to tell us he wants to go to Arsenal
  14. We may have spent some more money if we bought the Armenia fella - but would that then mean that someone else would have to leave? We have seen how they want players on the bench to be cheaper, never mind whether they are good enough to step in if they have to. No idea how much they have earned, but I suspect that they not to bothered about earning anything now, just as long as there is a massive profit when they come to sell
  15. It's really funny how the apologists mention we tried to sign Mkhitaryan as some badge of honour ( Everton are we? ) We didn't sign him and if we had, it may have seen us having to sell someone else. One minute we get Mignolet here to provide competition, now we have " we can't justify Reina's wages to sit on the bench" more proof, if needed that it is all about the bottom line
  16. I don't think we will ever agree on this, I can however respect your point of view. Talk is cheap, you are right - for FSG also. I didn't say that only people who know football should buy us. When did I say that? What I will say that if you don't know the sport you are buying into ( I wouldn't have a clue what to do with a baseball team) then you research the sport and league you are buying into and/or surround yourselves with people who do ( we have Ayre)
  17. Even when it is in black and white you still won't have it and will find a way to apologise for them. You asked for the proof it was said, now you have it. You mention that fans don't want the brutal truth, well it is better than being told lies. Yes. FSG saved us from going under, but they didn't do so for our benefit, it was done cos they saw an opportunity to get into the biggest global sport there is. They had no love for LFC. Henry regaled us about reading up on the club so he knew the history and ethos. We exist to win trophies???
  18. Everton also finished above us. Arsenal have won fuck all for years and celebrate finishing 4th. What's your point?
  19. Of course I grasp it - its just a shit argument unless you want to accept mediocracy. FSG are smart business men and should have known what pool they were swimming in - if you cant compete - then don't buy a team like Liverpool who have an expectation. Buy a team like Norwich etc if you want to buy low and sell high. Also, don't tell everyone that you can compete - whether one off or not and tell everyone you are here to win - when by your admission, we have no chance of doing so. You have to compliment stellar players with stellar players -If you only have one at a time, don't be surprised as to where we are. As far as personal playthings are concerned, I take your point as the foundations are often built on sand ( Malaga ) but we already have the foundations, just FSG cant/wont build on it. I really don't know how much money that have access to, but i'm sure they should be able to grow LFC on the pitch as well as off it
  20. And this is the problem. We buy 1 stellar player, one only, cos we can't compete for any others. The players does well ( as he is a stellar player) but because he is the only one we have, we finish 7th and we have to sell him cos A) we can only afford to have 1 B) he wants play at a higher level C) we are a team continually in transition
  21. They only saw the money they could make and have now shit themselves as they are now realising that it takes money to make money in this game and this club has expectations. - although some would have you believe that all is fine
  22. But if they are, as you say a "sports group" they will want their teams to be at the top of the tree? Why buy the club if you know you can't compete? You say we can compete for one stellar player, it is not enough. Which stellar player will come if he is surrounded by players of less ability? The player will move on quickly as we cannot match his ambition. This has happened before, is happening now and will happen again
  23. Some we never see it though. Owners are in it for the money
  24. That's fine then. We can't compete so don't even try. Lets just sell them our better players and accept mediocracy ? If they haven't bought the club to compete, then why have they? To make some money perhaps?
  25. We are from the same era then. Neither of us will ever see the glory days again under FSG. Surprised that someone so long in the tooth can be fooled so easily
