Put me down as another one who thinks this is utter nonsense.

One thing on tonight was Gakpo looked a different player when he came on, much more aggressive. If we can get Jota back soon & stop defending like schoolgirls, we can keep this winning run going.

Sorry mate, yes, our lack of urgency can encourage teams, but when you look at them chasing the ball down with literally seconds to go, it's in stark contrast to other games I've seen them play.

Professional teams give up because they're made to give up. We didn't do remotely enough for that possibility to even enter their minds.

Eh? That doesn't make sense. We didn't do enough in part to our lack of urgency, bur largely through how they defended. They gave up against Arsenal. They looked like they couldnt be arsed after the first goal went in. The amount of time Rice had in midfield to shoot in that game for example - our lads tonight were charged down very quickly and denied space largely because of the deepness of their line. Watch them in their next game - I doubt they'll be as committed in defence as tonight. I am quite prepared to apologise if they are, but I fully expect them to lose 3 or 4 nil whoever it is.

Sorry mate, but that’s simply rubbish. We were at pure walking pace for most of the game tonight, A League Two team could have kept up with us at this pace and intensity. We have only ourselves to blame that this became difficult.

What? Our walking pace made them throw themselves at every cross and shot? Yes, we could have moved it quicker, but these cunts worked way harder then the game against Arsenal. Watch it back. They visibly gave up.

  4. These utter cunts chasing everything down, despite being 3-1 down and seconds remaining. I fucking hate being everyone's cup final. If they'd tried this hard against everyone else, they wouldn't be bottom. The difference between this, and the lazy fuckers who gave up against Arsenal is like night and day. Klopp needs to drum this fact into the players. We play against a different opposition, week after week.

Anyway, try as you might, you still lost. Cunts. Up the table topping reds.

  5. Gomez getting involved alot, but it's way too slow and he needs to cut inside all the time. I'd bring Kostas on to help Diaz out on the left, and Harvey for Gravenberch to inject a bit of urgency. Wouldn't be averse to seeing Danns for Mo later on either. He's hugging the touchline too much, so most of his touches are backwards. Need another couple of goals fairly quickly to stop this getting unnecessarily nervy.

No it's OK I should've answered the other point. Cleverly is imo just sucking up to the Tory right wing nutjobs. Its a desperate ploy by a desperate party to give the impression they're controlling immigration. It's a bone headed decision by a bone headed government which will soon be proved to be boneheaded when a care system in desperate need of staff loses workers they cannot afford to lose  Its another example of a party which is split beyond repair.

The care system had plenty of staff before, well, you know...

Why be glib? What's that got to do with VAT. What point are you trying to make? Their is nothing in that article that's not common knowledge.

I wasn't being glib. A couple of us asked about Cleverley introducing immigration rules and the point was he (or his predecessors) could have done this at any point since 2010. Doing it now implies it's down to Brexit freedoms when the reality suggests differently. It's my fault too, I suppose, for putting two points in the same posts.

the problem they will have with selling him, is their valuation against the reality of his worth. it's like there's talk they want 80m for branthwaite. decent prospect, but no chance. i don't think they would take less than 50m for pickford. at 30, he probably has 5+ years left in him. i don't see anyone paying that for him. i think they would be unlikely to sell for less - unless it's that or administration.

They're 4 points clear of Luton with a game in hand. I'm not even sure that the 9 point hit for administration would send them down this season.

The rate of VAT goes up (the first thing Rachel Reeves bessie mate Thatcher did on gaining power in 79 was to increase it after promising not to throughout that election campaign, it resulted in the economy going into a tailspin) and it very occasionally goes down. VAT has already been abolished on certain items. Their are many other ways of raising taxes, wealth tax, levelling up capital gains, a windfall tax on banks and energy companies and a more progressive tax system in general just a few.

Yes, but if Labour said they were going to abolish VAT but raise income taxes, all the public would see would be "Labour raise taxes". Besides which, loopholes would be found to help the very wealthy squirrel their money away as usual. I'm not sure you'd cover the lost £162b anyway.

Oh and, for a third time, could the government have enacted their immigration rules before we left the EU?

  10. 6 minutes ago, Gnasher said:

It certainly would leave a black hole, agreed. It would need to be replaced by more progressive taxation, although the almost certain spike in growth should account for most of the shortfall. Flat rate taxes hit the poorest hardest and are on the whole unfair.

Ah yes, because people love paying tax, and are never looking at ways to avoid paying it. VAT is charged at source. So, any studies on what would happen if we scrapped it?

Also, could we have changed immigration rules whilst still in the EU?

  11. Just now, Gnasher said:

It's been a while since we left the EU, it's not yesterday. The reason for these rulings is because a desperate government is making desperate decisions to appease desperate people. This is all on the government, they're to blame, not us leaving the EU.

Is this a rule they could have enacted before we left? They were in charge at the time.

Last I checked every team played the same amount of home games so had the same amount of advantages. Its not a huge issue but any changing of rules during the season is wrong. Some teams will have played more home games than others, so if its actually an advantage the league have allowed some clubs to benefit more than others.

Well, especially if they don't appear to be enforcing the rules for some teams.

  13. We really do need to make a statement tomorrow night. None of this half arsed opening 20 minutes - we need to be at them and pressing from the front from the off. When they played Arsenal, they visibly gave up when the 3rd went in. We need to do the same and keep going to the end. Whenever we let up the intensity, we always give the relegation fodder hope of nicking something.
