Just thought this all might lead to Britain producing some great bands again, the poverty and anger, its a almost the basic ingredients for shit hot bands and decent comedians or not.

That may have been true in the eighties, since then the apathy machine has been ensuring that as long as young people are laughing at people falling off skateboards on their mobile phones, they are not questioning the fuckers who are hell bent on recreating Victorian Britain. Even the last big episode of social unrest seemed more about looting tvs and fucking trainers than about genuine protest.

I know that someone posted an anecdote about a pensioner who really struggles to make ends meet. Being in my fifties I know lots of pensioners as they are the parents of my friends and acquaintences. Most are in their seventies and eighties but every one of them is OK financially. Some live in their own homes some in social housing, most have cars, they all regularly get away for holidays and short breaks. Some like to get out and have a couple of drinks others don't, usually for medical reasons. Some are still fit and active others less so. These aren't people that were high flyers or have solid gold civil service pensions, they drove buses and delivery vans, worked on production lines, clerks, administrators, plasterers, joiners and so on. The descriptions rolled out suggest that hordes of pensioners are freezing to death and I just don't understand why life is so different for these unfortunate ones than what i believe to be the norm.

The only solid gold civil servant pensions are the ones the MPs voted for themselves.
