  1. They will be right up for us as they always seem to be there.

Not an easy game at all - especially off back of international break which is of course affects us a lot more than them and a few days before City game.

They're all big games now I suppose, but it just feels like a massive game for us.

  2.                                                       Clemence

  3. I think FSG are most likely waiting for then of the CL group to decide what to do with Rodgers. I'm fairly sure that if he is still here in January his transfer budget will not be very big at all.

I think when you take into account how funds were squandered in the summer, I think they'd be well within their rights to not open up the cheque book. Markovich being a prime example. Whether he's up to it or not, who'd know?

  4. "We were disappointed with the goal at the end but that's irrelevant."

    Eh yea Brendan, whatever.

I think this is probably the biggest thing that does my head in about him. He just brushes it off like conceding goals is a minor thing. It's fucking not. I loved how we attacked last season, but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't win you trophies. I think he's dismissive of our defensive problems because he's struggling to fix it.
  5. Total roller coaster of emotions with Rodgers for me. I was gutted he got the job. Thought he was a massive cock. After the first January I thought he was a progressive manager who learns fast. I ignored the fact that I thought he was a smarmy twat because he was producing a great attacking team. He totally won me over last season. I now feel totally gutted. Whether you want to face the reality or not, we're regressing badly. I'm desperate for him to succeed. The attacking football we played last season was breathtaking at times. I've been watching Liverpool for nearly 40 years, and you see the same signs when a manager is struggling. Grasping at straws in post match interviews, baffling selections and being totally stubborn by continually picking certain players.

  6. How many times is he going to play the "we have to play midweek games this season" card? You're managing Liverpool - deal with it.

Just makes him sound small time. Mourinho said the same last season, about us only playing a game a week. Rodgers argued that Chelsea's squad meant they could cope with the greater work load. He also said Vilas Boas should have had Tottenham challenging for the title after spending £100 million!

  7. Lovren and Johnson would get nowhere near the first 11. Gerrard wouldn't play that deeper role ever again. He plays as an attacking midfielder. If his legs aren't up to 90 minutes, he plays cameos from the bench. Can in Gerrard ' s position in front of the back 4. With the available strikers, one up front doesn't work. I'd even be tempted to play Brad Jones. Mingolet might improve with solidity and organisation in front of him, but I've lost faith in him. Jones deserves an opportunity. Reserve keepers only stay on the bench when first choice are totally reliable. Jones isn't great, but he deserves a run of games.

  8. It wouldn't take huge funds to massively improve the side. West Ham loaned in Song, QPR loaned in Vargas. Those two loan signings alone would have made a big difference, I refuse to believe we couldn't do something similar in January. I realise it'll be more difficult than it would have been in the summer, but it's not like we're trying to improve on particularly high standards at the moment.

You're right, if Rodgers doesn't see these areas of the side as problems then I don't know where the fuck we go from here.

Again, you won't find me disagreeing with you at all. The trouble is that Brendan obviously doesn't think that a Song type player is needed. You hear more and more people at the game saying the same thing. Brendan sees it differently.
  9. I'd like Rodgers to get until the summer to sort this fucking mess out (we're not going to be in a relegation battle, we're going to finish between 6th - 10th).

If there aren't signs that we're improving markedly, especially defensively, then I'd like him to be replaced by an experienced manager. Someone that has won something in the past. Someone with experience managing in Europe. If we can attract a better manager than Benitez to the club, excellent. If we can't, then I'm not against it being him.

All this "never go back" "baggage" stuff really is fucking meaningless. If he makes us a better side then even the people that dislike the man on a personal level won't care.

It's all irrelevant though, and I'm aware I've said as much a few posts up, whilst FSG are here we'll only be managed by young, inexperienced managers that won't kick up a fuss over the various restrictions on their job. Hopefully Rodgers gets his shit together, drops the players stinking the place out every week, finds a shape to the side that suits the squad, and we at least show some signs that we know what we're doing. Give us something to build on. As for FSG, hopefully short term they sanction funds for a DM and striker in January, and long term they tear up their ridiculous "we're cleverer than you" transfer policy.

I absolutely agree with you on the areas of the team that need strengthening. The same areas that needed strengthening in the summer. I just don't trust him to bring in the players we need. I also doubt Fenway will give him any significant funds after the summer debacle. We've barely seen Markovich, and to a lesser degree Lallana. He's needed a mobile, dynamic cm to play in the 3 from day one. Trouble is, Brendan doesn't think so.
  10. Can people stop this officially number 1 team in Europe bullshit. Its all based on shitty coefficient rankings. We were the number 1 team in Europe in 05 not any other year.

My way do I want Rafa back. The man will always have my respect for his first few years but the ladt couple were a disater. Red Knight said it earlier, stop looking backwards to go forwards

I genuinely thought at the end of last season we had an attack-minded, charismatic manager, who was going to be putting us back were we belonged. He's made mistakes in the past 2 and a half years, but he's learnt from them really quickly. He just seems like he's no idea of how to change it, and equally as worrying, it looks like the spirit within the squad that was so evident last year has evaporated. Worrying times.
