  1. Really ? Hicks and Gillett haven't the slightest idea about football and they're going to walk away with a reasonable profit. Doesn't sound insane to me.

    Absolutely right.

And therein lies why I won't be whoopy-doing until I see WHO ends up owning us.

If there's an LFC loving multi-billionaire out there who's happy to leave the Club to be run by LFC loving professional people then i'm sure we'll all be for it.

The reality is we'll be extremely lucky if that happens, although I don't believe we could be so unlucky to have the debacle we've had for the last 3 years either.

  2. Went today, with Mrs CP, the Club and the Families got this just right, as usual.

The players came in and passed right by us, on the way out I would say several of them looked affected by what they'd seen.

Margaret Aspinall was an absolute star, told it just as it is.

"We are the eyes, ears and voice of the 96". Exactly this.

    God Bless them all.

  3. I know it's very sad to say it, but should united fail to win the title (and even if we don't go on to win the Europa League) them failing to get no19 and a CL win would at least make this season semi-bearable for me.

To be able to then watch the two big finals of the season, the CL and FA Cup without a care in the world and then hopefully see some magic in the World Cup, well it is better than I could have reasonably hoped for even a couple of weeks ago.

Then regardless of who owns, manages or ends up playing for the club, we go again in August, because we'll be here whatever.

  4. It's the having no money aspect that bothers mme about this potentail signing. I like Guti (although his attempts at facial hair shoudl be outlawed) but my fear is that this is the market in which we now have to operate - looking to buy good players in theior 30's and kids.

Fuck me. we're turning into Bolton.

  5. To make his salary and expenses a problem before you know what he will be doing and why he is being installed as chairman makes no sense.

For all we know he can be an appointment made by the RBS to make sure investment is brought in.[/QUOTE]

Isn't that what Purslow was brought in for?

  6. I think Agger has all the makings of a top class Left Back.

He can obviously carry the ball better than most defenders (well our defenders anyway!) and can defend adequately enough for a left back.

Plus he's fairly quick, which is something Insua doesn't seem to be unfortunately.

Sometimes he's looked a bit lightweight and easily beaten in the air at centre back and last night for instance, Benfica weren't the threat they were in Lisbon because Kyrgiakos took decent enough care of Cardoza, who'd given us trouble there.

    Tough call though.

  7. Aye. He's a square peg in a round hole, so I've never really given him any slack for not being John Barnes or Steve McManaman.

He's been played out of position for years, but he never grumbles. He just gets on with it. Yeah, he might stink occasionally, but even then he never hides from the ball, he always shows for it, even if he does then give it away!!

When he has played up front, he almost always scores though! He has an uncanny knack of just always being in the right place at the right time. So my frustrations with Dirk lie far more with how we use him than with the player himself.

I've said it a few times - I'd also run my arse off on the wing for Liverpool. I would never hide and I'd always give my best.

But I'm not good enough to do it either!

If Dirk has to be in the side, then he should be up front and nowhere else imo.

    Exactly this.

  8. If he decides to go, I don't think winning the Europa League will make any difference, it might strengthen his hand looking for a new position.

If someone else decides he's going, then that decision might well be made by now anyway.

If we make 4th, anything could happen, as not only will he have "delivered" on his promise of a CL qualifying place, we'd also be more attractive to a new coach/manager coming in.

If we win the EL and qualify for the CL qualifying rounds then I think it'd be difficult for the hierarchy at the Club to sack Rafa as he'd have won more this season than Wenger and, hopefully, ferguson.

It'd be interesting to know what the players really think.

  9. I thought he had one of his better (best?) games for us last night.

Maybe it was just me, but I could've sworn the ground went silent for a second when he went up against the keeper, but he took his chance very well.

I don't mind eating a large slice of humble pie where Lucas is concerned, especially if this is the start of him having more positive influence over the team and how we play.

All the players seemed genuinely made up for him when he scored as well, so he's obviously liked by the team.

PS The chant for him is crap.

  10. Yes, loyalty to all three, but it's the loyalty to the manager that some people can't seem to stomach.

No I don't know concrete he was having a pop at the owners. But if he was, then he's been as explicit as he could be without actually naming them. I do know for concrete that he is fully behind the manager though.

I think he supports the Manager as well.

He made comments a couple of weeks ago saying that next season we should be back challenging for the title and the Champions League or Europa Cup.

I'd think that suggests he's accepted this season is a write off and we'll have to go again come next season.

  11. To those that have said 'He doesn't mention the owners', precisely what do you think he meant when he said 'circumstances dictated we had to sell players'?

Many have posted on here that the reason Alonso went was down to the manager. Also that Sami would have stayed had he been offered a longer contract.

I don't know if those statements are true, but Benitez could have made those decisions himself without the owners getting involved.

As I said in my earlier post, it's all speculation unless you actually know the facts.

  12. Funny how a ref has one or two questionable decisions and he's demoted almost straight away, and yet when managers, and ferguson is by far the worst, step out of line they are politely asked to explain their comments and nothing gets done.

    Respect? My arse.
