  1. Masters of the Air went with characters that were too All American and unlikeable. Visually stunning and told the horrors of flying bombers in WW2, but should have been much better.
Memphis Belle had already shown most of those horrors though.
On the back of this I watched Band of Brothers and The Pacific again, superb shows.
Episode 10 of BofB, is one of the most powerful things I’ve seen, really gets to the heart strings and makes you cry, not just for the prisoners but for the  shock and dis-belief of the soldiers having to witness that.

  2. On North West news few weeks ago, an Everton spokeswoman said, whilst proudly wearing an Everton safety hat at Bramley Moore, that it will bring in 1.5 million visitors a year, create 15k jobs and add 100s millions to local economy.
They’re just fantasy figures. No idea how they reached these conclusions but it shows how deluded the club hierarchy are about the new stadium.

Absolutely. Before Barcelona went skint im sure they would have paid over the odds for Salah or Mane. They always had to make a statement about how big a club they were which helped us rinse them over Coutinho.

I think Everton used the excuse that Barca were prepared to pay £80 million for the pigeon twat pre-Covid and that was used as part of their covid losses.

  4. Also, the war in Ukraine is baseless, as it means only Uncle Ussy was prepared to sponsor them, with above market value sponsorships, which is (I think) what City have been charged with.
Crying because your one sponsor, who supposedly, had no holding in the club can longer pump money, and finding noone else prepared is just as fraudulent

Napoleon - it was OK. Nowt special.  I think it would have been better in a mini series since it tried to pack a long time period into a short space of time.  Never really told enough of the story of his background/rise, his seizing of power, his many battles and then his exile & return.

So disappointed with Napoleon. Trying to tell his whole life with a 3 hour film was never going to work, especially when they spend half of it on his relationship with Josephine. Who was arsed with that part of him. Add the half arsed efforts and inaccuracies in the battle stories, and you’re left with a mish mash.

Very well shot though and very good cinematically

  6. Winter break is surely more beneficial to clubs with smaller squads who can’t rotate players as much. Or is he saying only clubs in Europe and packed with international players benefit, in which case he’s a prick and not arsed about player welfare.

  7. Who do they think the PL is exactly?

Its rules and regulations are set by the clubs and are voted in by the clubs.
There is no Spectre type organisation in the background, just a load of people trying to uphold the rules the clubs agreed on.
That is all that is happening, Everton, despite given so much leeway, still had to plead guilty to breaking the P&S rules that they voted for.
The rules state an independent panel try the case, which is what happened. There may be an argument that 10 points was harsh, but similarly there is one that says it’s lenient too.

The ironic thing that they are overlooking, is that the P&S rules are there to stop clubs going bust.
Everton broke the rules and are now nearly bankrupt. Karma

Can that idiot actually back up WHY the Premier league don't want the shite to be like the Abu Dhabi cheats , or is he just making it up as he goes along .

‘They’ have had it in for Everton for years and are doing everything to stop  them becoming the biggest football club on the planet. ‘They’ also only exist in the minds of Evertonians.

They couldn't play at anfield, as that would need approval from the council. Lfc can only host something like 10 events per year outside LFC matches.

Don’t think the Council would be the biggest obstacle to this, more likely us telling them to shove it where the sun don’t shine.

Some of us saw this coming off a mile away but were shouted down and told to not knee jerk. Well the chickens have come home to roost thanks to John Henry and his gang of cunts.

They habe activity destroyed what Klopp build with their absolute clueless tight fisted ways.

    Take a fucking bow FSG.

Im no FSG apologist, but I don’t think this is their fault. They gave Klopp a budget and control of transfers. He brought Ibiza Jorge in to control transfers. The money has obviously been there all along, its not JH fault that Jorge has been incompetant in getting Lavia deal done.

I'm with you. The PL don't want their brand sullied by the idea it's not fair. They have to do something, but it'll be sure city will get away.

There's absolutely no way the PL can compete with Abu Dhabi on lawyers. That's not to say the PL will have dickheads, but there's a limit to what they can spend. Abu Dhabi could bankrupt the league with legal fees alone.

The PL is just the clubs though isn't it. If the punishment isn't big, it'll be because the battle is lost.

It's maybe also no coincidence that the 2 biggest clubs in the league are up for sale, there seems limited buyers out there and now the PL are trying to illustrate city can't get it all their own way. I'm sure FSG and the glazers will want sales quickly and maybe use this (before an outcome) to get the fuck out of dodge while there's some pretence of the rules meaning something.

Might change FSG mind, in that they can't compete by sticking to FFP rules when others don't. If PL starts cracking down and FFP applied correctly, then it means we can compete against anyone.

Been trying to think about this logically today - do we really need a some Middle Eastern brigade to keep us competitive with the sides at the top of the league?

I was thinking that some other American company buys in at, for example 20%.

    At a valuation of £3bn, that’s £600m.

Continue to qualify for the CL (or re-qualify as it might be), a CL Reform (ie we can have our on sponsors for the games), more sponsors, new TV deals (streaming?) etc etc, whatever additional value could be added to the club and say in 5 years it’s worth £5bn and that £600m is now worth £1bn.

Given FSG have grown revenues etc since 2010, they clearly can be viewed as having a track record in asset growth.

Unfortunately, given the current climate at home Chelsea are spunking money everywhere, would a figure such as £600m be enough long term?

Again, hypothetical, if we were to sign Bellingham, Caicedo and Nunes in the summer, that’s likely c.£250m of that £600m gone.

Throw in long term VVD replacement or a long term Salah replacement and it’s lasting very long at all.

You’d hope we wouldn’t need that sort of outlay every summer, it still doesn’t feel the money would go that far. It might last us 5 years.

And what do we then do after 5 years?

Do we look for another round of investment or completely sell? I’d assume the longer we wait, the few billionaires there would be to purchase us.

Given the current football landscape with on transfers, earning qualifications, current TV & sponsorship packages etc, it feels we’d never be able to reach the c.£8bn valuation of Dallas Cowboys or something.

Think most PL clubs who want to be at the top are facing this issue now. Chelsea,Arsenal and Man U have twisted whilst we've stuck. Think even Man City, who have dropped off, though not as much as us, are pondering what to do next ,as they need a re-build as well, and will certainly have to adhere to FFP, however loosely. I reckon we go big in the summer, and that will be it for 18 months when we'll need a Salah, VVD,Matip etc replacement.

Can't see Chelsea or Arsenal spending big again in the next few windows.
