    Kip of this.

My Mrs has been teaching at the same Primary School for 10 years. Flawless record, won awards and all sorts of shit. She's also been given extra management responsibilities on top of it (which she accepted) but has found it harder and harder to do a full time teaching job too. The head had promised her time out of class but has not always delivered. She had a panic attack shotly before summer after the deputy and another member of the senior leadership team were horrible to her about something.

The council gave her an occupational health assessment and the nurse agreed that she should be allowed to ditch her management responsibilities and just teach. She had a meeting with the head, some HR turd from the council and union bloke. The head said he wasn't accepting the OH recommendations as there was nobody else who could take on her roles.

Union bloke advised her on the side that she should 'go off on the sick' and find another job. Then yesterday he rang her and said HR had 'made an offer', that she could get paid until Christmas if she goes now, oh and they'll 'give her a good reference'. Union guy says to take it.

She's still not had sight of the reference yet, but all her colleagues were in tears today when she  told  them, literally in tears.

This CAN NOT be legal surely?!?

I work in education mate and it’s absolutely grim in how ruthless they are. I’ve heard and seen this done loads of times and unfortunately, the reality is that they’ll make her life utterly miserable until it gets to the point that she cracks and leaves, or can’t cope with the workload and starts making errors that lead to a dismissal. I’ve had dealings with loads of different headteachers and loads of them have been borderline sociopaths/megalomaniacs.

It’s absolutely shite, but in terms of the stress that may follow my advice would be to take the offer, or to try and negotiate a slightly better offer. Once they’ve made a decision like that there is no going back. Your only option is looking at fighting a constructive dismissal case but the schools usually make sure they have the evidence they need for there to be no repercussions.

  2. What’s the most batshit you’ve ever gone at the game and why? Nunez’s equaliser last week got me thinking whether that’s the most I’ve ever lost my shit celebrating a goal or not.

And equally have there been  any unusual things that have made you lose your shit? Im usually fairly calm at the match and don’t get involved with all that opposition fan baiting rubbish, and I remember 18/19 being down at Southampton end of the season when keita equalised. I was right next to their fans and I’d zoned in on one fan in their end being absolutely horrible just before we scored and I full on lost my mind at him trying to make him see that I’d clocked him. Unsuccessfully so, where I just looked like a proper fucking idiot.

In summary, tell us when you’ve let your soft out and looked like a knob!

  4. Fuck me we got lucky with the weather for the 2 days there looking at the state of it now. Parked ourselves next to the 9th green and 10th tee with a great spec and access to the beer tents. I’m paying for it now though.

Fancy Rahm to come through the pack today after an unbelievable round yesterday.

  5. Got tickets for the Friday and Saturday for this. Can't wait to finish tomorrow as it is the precursor into 2 weeks off work and a trek round mount blanc next week!

I'm hoping McIlroy can pull one out the bag but fancy Hovland who has gone close in the last few. Gonna be rough on Sunday!

Yes he was malingering on the sidelines for the Barcelona 4-0 game

Even that was concussion protocols from the head injury he got against Newcastle on the Saturday. He'd have played if they had let him. A modern great Mo no doubt.

  7. Haha Fat Willy’s Surf Shack is a great shout, proper reminds me of being a kid in the 90’s our first holidays were to Cornwall and we always used to get the tie dye t- shirts from there!

Few have already been said like naff naff and fruit of the loom but also remember rockports and a brand called Sonetti that I had a shirt I loved.

Also a staple diet of Findus crispy pancakes and san marco margherita pizzas purchased from the kwik save growing up.

Micro chips as well, actually went to school with the kid from the advert who came in and said ‘mam where’s the micro chips I’m starving’

  8. Right lads, I’ve had the abacus out. This is what we’re after. Leeds to win here and beat Bournemouth at the weekend. Everton to get beat tomorrow and at Leicester next game. Bournemouth to beat Southampton this week. In this scenario that would leave our blue brethren 7 points behind Leeds, 8 behind Bournemouth and 3 behind Leicester. Their next 2 games would be Brighton away and city at home

  9. Not sure it’s classed as heartwarming but I always think about this with a smile on grand national day and seen as the thread has gone up today…

2004 my grandad died about 2 weeks before the grand national. He was big into the horses and followed them all year round and had told my mum who he was backing for the national. He died fairly suddenly and my mum is fairly superstitious and had got it into her head that if his horse won the national then that was a sign from him that he was ok.

On the morning of the national me and a load of the family went round and cleared the last of his house out and then walked around to the pub where my grandad went every day, sat in the same spec and knew everyone in there. It was chocca in there and they’d left my grandads spec for us all to sit in and the whole pub was on my grandads horse and obviously the whole family was as well. Obviously my mum had got herself in a bit of a twist about whether it was gonna happen and he was gonna be ok and all that.

And then Amberleigh House went and done this ( from 8 minutes in to avoid the whole race) and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Still gives me goosebumps watching it now

  10. Me and a few mates have got tickets for the Friday for this. Never been before so looking forward to it. Haven’t got much of a clue though me, just generally go off the names I like but fingers crossed for a bit of luck

  11. People are obviously not very happy about the second half, but in the context of where we’ve been at for the last 2 months the first half was probably our best performance in months. We got schooled completely second half by a completely superior team who were perfectly set up to expose all of our current glaring weaknesses. Sometimes you’ve gotta just hold your hands up and say you know what, they are a better team than us at the moment. A large part of that is self inflicted on our part, but we are where we are and we’ve now gotta focus on trying to improve again ahead of the weekend. Anyone who thought we were going through given our recent form hasn’t been paying attention.

  12. I was in the lower main just behind the away dugout and I thought the atmosphere was crap second half. Couldn’t hear a note from the kop until the 90th minute when some feeble ‘we love you Liverpool’s’ went up followed by a meek YNWA. Was saying to my mate a bit of defiance from the kop would have been nice to see in those circumstances

  13. With regards to the corners, I am not sure whether it was mentioned on the telly, but Brentford went proper shit or bust on the corners. They loaded our box with everyone of their players and then 2 stepped out to the edge of the box leaving nobody back at all. I've never seen a side do that against us before.

I said at the time with the way that we set up, if we can manage the first contact or to clear one Mo would have been away. It was proper risk versus reward stuff on their part and they got all of the rewards. They definitely did a number on us on them.

I was fitted for my irons but the standard lie and loft was fine for me. Are you exceptionally tall? Otherwise they won't be too short for you and you should be able to just buy off the rack (or second hand on ebay etc).

You should definitely get fitted for a driver though. It's not so important with other clubs but driver is different. I was fitted in American Golf a few years ago, but that was really basic and I don't think I really got anything out of it.

A couple of weeks ago I got an invite to Wilson Staff's media day and part of it was that their professional fitters (lads who deal with the tour pros) would give all of us a proper fitting with Wilson's new driver. Turns out that the shaft I was using (and thought was the right one for me) was not helping me at all. They swapped it for a different one which was lower spinning and lower launch, and the difference was immediately noticeable.

So it's worth paying to get fitted for a driver. You only need to do it once because when you know what shaft you need you can just get that put into any driver you might buy in future.

Nice one Dave, that’s interesting I didn’t know that about a driver. I was using an old one given to me as part of that set which I literally couldn’t hit a few years back, before getting a new one which I can hit ok now, but I may go and get measured for that.

I'm gonna treat myself to some new clubs for Christmas so any recommendations for irons would be appreciated. Maybe looking to spend between £600- £900 depending on what’s available. Any ideas?

Bought a 7 wood recently and it's boss.

I wrote this about it. Any clicks would be appreciated.

Have you been measured by a pro Dave or just use irons off the shelve?

I started playing a couple of years ago and have got a lot better off the irons I was given by a mate but they do feel a bit short. One mate I play with who’s a similar standard to me (playing off 14) got measured last year and his game has gone to shite.

My other mate who’s good and plays off 8 got his from off the rack if you like and  reckons I’d probably get a better deal doing that.

    Anyone any thoughts?
