  1. Can’t get out my mind that this is pure 1990’s Liverpool stuff. As you alluded to with the 4th in a 3 horse race. It’s massively reminiscent of that season. What does that performance say about those players who are going to one of your biggest rivals fighting for a title for a manager who they’re supposed to be willing to run through brick walls for. They’re a gang of absolute shithouses and there are players there whose performance I won’t forget for a long time. If they stay at the club.

This is where I get labelled a superfan or whatever, but yup.

Nunez absolutely deserves the piles of criticism he gets in terms of not being able to finish or hit a barn door from 2ft away and not looking like he's got it in him to be a top forward, but the way some seem to be blaming him as if he's the sole reason for recent losses is just way off, maybe if we stopped shipping easy goals/going behind first practically every game we wouldnt need to pressure our forwards to need to score at least two fucking goals every game, the losses/silly draws are a whole team issue, Nunez just as a whole trove of other overpaid pricks has his responsibility for them.

I agree that he is not the only one. But he’s also indicative of where we are now at as a team now. I think he’s Europa league level, alongside the likes of gravenberch, sobozlai, Gakpo and numerous others who can’t be relied upon. And you take away one of the world’s best managers and it’s a worrying prospect. I’ve been saying since the Man Utd cup game, these last few weeks have had the stench of a 1990’s Liverpool side. And that is no way all on Nunez, but he’s part of the problem not the solution in my opinion.

We would have won the league this season if Salah could finish. Hope this helps

*runs for cover from the Viking

Had exactly the same discussion with the lad sat next to me last night. When Diaz missed that chance he’s arguing why is it that he’s not getting as much stick as Nunez. But if the argument is that someone else is just as bad/culpable/ why isn’t he getting blamed. Then the lowering of standards is complete isn’t it and the level that we are accepting is nowhere near what we have been accustomed to previously under klopp.

I think I’ve been fairly balanced on Nunez. I thought he looked really poor and raw when he first came in. He improved a lot and we looked a much more dangerous team with him in. That’s potentially still the case. But I think it’s fairly clear that he can’t be relied upon to be your main man for a title winning/ European cup winning team. Which is what we should be aspiring to be. Real top players turn up in the big moments and unfortunately Nunez has been found wanting in that department.

Hardly got a sniff in that second half. Salah was far more wasteful

Szobozlai should be getting thrown the banks but you all love the usual whipping boy who works harder than most on the pitch.

I honestly don’t think most of you even watch the match or if you do you just sit there hawkeyed for a tiny mistake. Pure Strontium Dog gear.

Nunez needs to finish better for sure I’ve said that for ages. Is he at fault for tonight? Yes the whole team are but he’s way down the list of people we should be bumping. You fucking pillow zips

Honest question, do you think we are ever becoming a league and European cup winning team with Nunez as a starting forward player? Because that’s the level we are aspiring to. Anything else is a lowering of standards and expectations from where we have been over the past 5 years.

  5. I’ve said to my mates all season, he will cost you in the big moments. And unfortunately that’s exactly what has happened. You just can’t have your main striker miss the chances he misses and then expect to compete for the big trophies. Anyone who tries to argue that you can is so far down the rabbit hole that they’ll resurface in Australia.

  6. City fans at the bernabeu are akin to the time I rocked up to what had been voted Spains best golf course 2019, rough as a bears arse and spewed up in the bushes outside the clubhouse. I paid to play the course, but I just did not belong there.

In the two years where we came second by a point, we had the air of a title winning team throughout the season. I can't think of a single point this season where I've really felt that. Don't get me wrong. I've loved it, and it's been a huge bonus to see us competitive again after such a rebuild. And if Jurgen was staying I'd be confident of this side smashing everyone next season. But my feeling is that we're currently a bit like Rodgers' 13-14 side, or indeed Arsenal last year (albeit with better players and a better manager). We have obvious flaws which I'm not sure the other two challengers do (I watched Arsenal against Brighton and while they weren't amazing, they were efficient and ruthless). It's so draining to constantly have to go to the well game after game, and it's rarely sustainable over the course of a season.

Of course, we're only second on goal difference so I think to say we have no chance is ridiculous. But I can't shake the feeling we're the side most likely to drop away.

And yet we still finished second in each of those years. Maybe this year the footballing gods have other plans for us, despite not being quite as good as previous!

Definite penalty. What are people moaning at?

The fact that when we get kicked chest high studs up and the player gets a minor touch on the ball after our player, we don’t get a penalty

They were moaning that when Konate went down in our penalty area, they had the ball.  Then we didn't give the ball back and went and scored.  To be fair, we'd be accusing the referee and the whole world of corruption and stitching us up if it had happened to us.

He did the exact some thing to us at the start of the second half when we had the ball. Myself and macallister were going fucking mad over it and he was gesticulating about the penalty area as though to suggest there was some shit rule that we’re not aware of. He applied that consistently in both scenarios anyway despite being a shit manc cunt

  10. The only positive I took from it was that generally you can go away to Arsenal, play well and still get beat. So if that was us throwing a stinker in, it wasn’t the worst game to do it rather than potentially having a repeat of the Leicester scenario from a few years ok. Its a big IF though

  11. Started to up the mileage after struggling to train over Christmas but my calves have tightened again so just tried to get out and do a small 4.5 mile but stopped straight away as they didn’t feel right. Bit of a shitter really as my legs have felt good recently having had a few issues for a few years. Gonna book some acupuncture and a massage over the weekend and have to up the strength training. 12 weeks on Sunday until the London marathon.

  12. I rarely post but did so after the Fulham game the other week and said I look at that squad and think it’s just far too early in its development to win a title. I’d love to be wrong and they really turn it on second half of the season, but in my opinion there are still too many players who are not ready to provide the consistency needed to win the league. I look at them players there and think how many of them would you rely on to win 5 or 6 of your last 7/8 games when the pressure is really on to win a title if it went toe to toe. It would only be some of the few remaining who’ve won the big trophies for us in the past.  And for me that’s absolutely fine because that’s part of developing as a squad.

I actually think the league cup could be a really important one this year to help develop this squad and get them winning a trophy early, particularly given who’s left in it. I’d take it much more seriously than other people are suggesting to do.

However I also have nagging questions about whether it’s the players not being ready or whether they are just actually not good enough. And only time will tell on that score I don’t think anyone can give a definitive answer until klopp has had time to develop them as a squad. What I do know is there is no better manager to try and get every last drop ability out of them.

  13. I was quite a big critic of Nunez in his early months, and I think he’s improved massively since being with us. However I think he is a bit of a microcosm of where we are at as an all round team at the moment. A lot of potential and a massive ceiling there but also frustratingly inconsistent and the ability to blow really hot and cold.

I was sat watching that today looking at a number of players thinking, they’re probably a couple of years away from being where we need to be to genuinely challenge city in the way that we have previously. Gravenberch, Sobozlai, Nunez, Macallister, Gakpo, the younger players like Elliot and Jones even potentially Diaz are just not quite consistent enough to be top draw at the moment. That’s not to say they won’t become that, but it’s just not quite there yet.

I still think when it comes to the crunch this season we will fall short, but that’s ok if we are developing as a team. A league cup and a Europa league would help in that process massively.

I could do without the cheerleading to the crowd after he’s missed a chance though. Just focus on putting the ball in the net son.

  14. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I had no idea it was about the Sharon Tate murder being a young pup of 36 and not having read anything about the film. It was so much better watching it the second time but it was on telly.

Inception and Dunkirk as well. Blew me away in the pictures both of them, the type of films where I realised I hadn’t blinked in about an hour towards the end.

I was made up with it. Cheers.

You've got a bomb load of time to build up running now and then execute a really solid 16 week marathon training block.

Loads of plans can find online that suit - get stuck in and keep us posted about your progress and if want to share any ideas etc - just shout!

Nice one mate. I ran the Edinburgh marathon in 2018 and ran fairly regularly for a good few years after but had a problem with my calf for the last couple of years so scaled back the running. Fingers crossed the calf seems to be ok now so I’m looking forward to starting up again. Just going to be doing a couple of 5/10k runs a week before Christmas alongside some other training as I’ll get bored if I go too heavy too early. Looking forward to doing it though, there are 4 of us running it so should be a good weekend.

  16. I’ve got a place in the London marathon next year running for a children’s cancer charity so it’s going to be back pounding the tarmac having not ran consistently for a good year or 2.

That marathon time was an incredible effort an tha, well done mate

  17. What AOT says there is all 100% right in theory, I’m only saying what I’ve seen so defo explore other peoples opinions/experiences.

If she decides to bow out I’d defo try and negotiate something more though mate. If they’re willing to pay til Christmas now I’d gamble that they’d be willing to pay til February half term minimum as well. In time/management HR costs and all round hassle to constructively dismiss her it’s going to be a much longer and messier process so 6 weeks extra salary to eliminate all that would be worth it I would have thought. But again seek advice from others.

Best of luck with it anyway, shite situation all round.
