  1. Really think goals will come.

We are creating chances, someone is going to get a hiding, no idea when, but it'll come.

Gerrard being on the bench, used sparingly or sitting deeper will help that

  2. A fit Steven Gerrard would score 20 goals a season in this Liverpool team. Easily the most clinical player in the squad, which is just what we need. Finishing and anticipation are attributes you never lose regardless of fitness levels.

    Fit being the key word

  3. I feel really bad for him, injuries are one thing but illness is totally different. I wouldn't wish illness on anyone. Hope he can recover from it.

With you on that one Dave, have to say one least unliked United players as well.

  4. I am more worried of him getting fit than where to play him at the moment. I have a feeling he will retire early because of his injury. He would probably play 15-20 games until the next injury this season.

I think its reasonable not to expect much more than 25 games a season from him, however I'd be happy with that next 4-5 years and use him sparingly

  5. I can only echo what others have said already in the thread, I think the only positive to take from this or hopefully take from this is bringing the issue of mental health up. Especially in a pre-dominately male environment were talking about feelings is deemed 'gay'.

    totally agree.

Its strange, that in a world were through technology, communciaction is almost people instantaneous, that you can still feel so alone.

And thats from my own experience as well.

  6. Dan Walker on BBC News now, spent all day with Speed yesterday. Sounds totally and utterly devastated and said he was on top form all day, no indications of suffering at all. Heartbreaking stuff.

Can't even begin to imagine how he must be feeling now. His life will constantly be filled with what if's and why he disn't pick up on his anguish.

    So sad

  7. Back in the days of the beginning of the millennium France was supposed to be the invincible ones for decades winning back to back WC/EC with an incredible crop of talent coming through the best youth system in the world.

Despite a last breath from their golden generation in 2006 it all went to shit, culminating with this.

These things go in cycles and I think Spain will find out soon enough that despite their incredible crop of talent players like Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Torres (I could, but won't go on) won't be as easy to replace in practice as it is in theory.

And you should never underestimate the power success has for attracting incompetents looking for some personal glory.

Fair point about France, but looking at some of the players Spain have coming through, not sure I agree.

Slightly moving off topic there, but have to say great post

  8. I like the look of Javi Martinez myself, puts himself about, big physical presence, looks like he could take games by the scruff of the neck.

I personally think its the formation we play though thats makes the midfield look weak.

Lucas Sitting, and Adam and Gerrard a little further advanced. Wouldnt be many teams dominating us then.
