  1. A plea to the Liverpool FC Heirarchy - ACT NOW. I believe as a matter of urgency that Liverpool FC should replace forthwith manager Roy Hodgson and replace him IMMEDIATELY with Kenny Dalglish, I set out my reasons below why. It is not just the abysmal results that have made me form this opinion just 6 weeks into the new season but mainly the performances....... .or non-performances I should really be saying. No cohesion, no pattern, absolutely no creativity, lack of ideas coming from the bench on how to change the game in our favour when we are plainly struggling. Lack of support for the best striker in Europe, playing Skrtel in favour of the footballing defender Daniel Agger, etc, etc. What has compounded the defeats and dire negative performances has been Roy Hodgson's aftermatch comments. Hodgson stated after our home victory versus Steua Bucharest that "we contained them well in the first half". We were the home team and should be taking the game to the opposition and not setting out to contain an average European team. Hodgson when asked by Clive Tyldsley on ITV before the Europa League away match versus Utrecht, whether Torres preferred playing on his own or with a strike partner answered "I honestly don't know". Why after being in charge at the club for 3 months does he not know?? Has he not spoken to Fernando about it?? If not.......why?? Hodgson when interviewed on ITV after the Europa League away match versus Utrecht stated the expectations of this club are NOT realistic. At the beginning of the season he stated that the target was "a top four finish". Has he suddenly reassessed that opinion.......if so ....why? We are Liverpool FC and his comments hardly inspire confidence in the dressing room. After the Utrecht match he stated "we certainly did better that Celtic". Liverpool FC is a giant of European football, only Real Madrid & AC Milan have won the European Cup more times therfore why is he comparing us to a club who are playing in a weak league which is won by one of two teams every year?? He talks as though he is still managing Fulham, again hardly inspiring confidence amongst his players. By replacing hodgson with Dalglish, Ferguson at United would also fear Kenny and would know immediately that Liverpool FC under Dalglish are once again a club to be feared. I also believe Hodgson made a mistake of cataclysmic proportions by revealing to Liverpool supporters his deep rooted friendship with that chief Liverpool FC antagonist Ferguson. He also had the audacity to state he hoped that by becoming the next Liverpool FC manager "Alex would forgive me" and "I hope we can still be good friends". During the recent 2-3 defeat at Old Trafford, Hodgson even refused to defend star striker Torres after Ferguson accused him of "cheating". Do you think Rafa or Kenny would have refused to comment after hearing such outrageous lies. Imagine what Bill Shankly would have said to the obnoxious Ferguson back in his heyday. Hodgson was more concerned with retaining a friendship and not wanting to upset his old friend Ferguson. Every LFC follower knows all about Ferguson's deep rooted hatred to all things Liverpool Football Club and would have admired Hodgson if he had given back just a bit of the venom coming from Ferguson, alas, Hodgson's silence in fact spelt a thousand words. The most damning indictment of Hodgson's reign however has been the dire, sleep inducing negative anti-football which is not what Liverpool worldwide following have been used to watching during the last 40 odd successful years. I believe the Liverpool FC heirarchy should immediately replace Roy Hodgson with ex-Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish forthwith. Dalglish commands respect, has the aura, charisma, personaliity and above all is a WINNER who knows the club inside out and would stablise the club and rescue the season before it is too late and bring back good attacking football. Leave Roy Hodgson in charge and we will be fighting for at best a mid-table position. Bring in Dalglish now and we could still be fighting for a top 6 finish at the very least. Roy Hodgson, I believe is out of his depth.......granted he did a fantastic job at Fulham, but I believe that is his level and not at a footballing European giant that is Liverpool Football Club. This is a plea to the Liverpool FC Heirarchy - ACT NOW and replace Roy Hodgson with Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish.
  2. Liverpool FC manager Roy Hodgson can gloss over yet another inept Liverpool FC performance as much as he likes but it won't wash. the knowledgable LFC supporters will not be fooled by his comments. This was yet again another sleep inducing anti-football display which is not fitting of a club of Liverpool FC's standing in world football. Player performing without any passion, without the basic footballing skill of passing from A to B and perhaps the worst players seemingly going through the motions. There appears to be no team spirit in the camp and that is purely down to the manager who needs to address this immediately, otherwise we will be in big big trouble. Roy Hodgson is neither a motivator or a winner and I believe as a long term Anfield season ticket holder he is sadly out of his depth. Hodgson is a negative manager as he reveals in his after match Press conference in Holland praising the performance and the players after another drab goalless display.............beyond belief. Before the season started Hodgson stated a top four finish was the target, last night he suggested after the match that QUOTE "the expectations at this club are not realistic" UNQUOTE. I would like Hodgson to explain those comments and what he realistically see's as Liverpool Football Club's targets?? Are we as LFC supporters NOT expected as "a minimum acceptable target" to finish in the top four any longer? His other aftermatch comment that "we did better than Celtic did here" shows yet again he fails to realise the size of Liverpool Football Club and the expectations and standards expected at Anfield. Therefore I ask once more to Mr Hodgson, please explain those Utrecht post match comments and what are our expectations for this season???

  4. A very special friendship - Liverpool FC When Borussia Moenchengladbach began to ponder fitting opponents for their 110th anniversary celebrations, they didn't need to think long and hard. Not only will the Bundesliga club commemorate a landmark date in their history today, they will also consolidate a unique bond with Liverpool Football Club that stretches back near four decades. During the heady days of the 1970s, Liverpool and Borussia met on numerous occasions in European battle - most famously in the 1977 European Cup final in Rome. And while the Reds may have ran out 3-1 winners to acquaint themselves with old Big Ears for the first time, a relationship was forged between the two sets of supporters in the Eternal City that still stands to this very day. Earlier this year, Liverpool fans embarked on what has developed into an annual journey to Moenchengladbach to take in a Borussia home game. Meanwhile, during each Bundesliga winter break, Die Fohlen followers venture over to Merseyside to visit Anfield and watch the Reds in action. By all accounts, they are occasions that live long in the memory - and it is likely to be a similar story in North Rhine-Westphalia this afternoon. Ahead of the clash, we caught up with German Reds secretary and LFC friendship trip organiser Graham Agg, to get a taste of what to expect. Tell us about the friendship that exists between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Liverpool? The Liverpool Football Club and Borussia Moenchengladbach friendship is absolutely unique in world football. There is no other relationship like the one there is between these two sets of supporters. In the official Borussia Moenchengladbach 'Fanhaus' they have a whole corner dedicated to the Reds and even in their impressive home stadium, Borussia Park, there's a corporate hospitality lounge called the 'Liverpool FC Suite'. The Borussia supporters have travelled to Anfield every year during the Bundesliga winter break to support the Reds annually since 1992 - apart from one occasion in January 2007. The reason was because Liverpool played just two home games that month - against Chelsea and Everton - and the Borussia fans opted not to travel over because they did not feel it would be right to take around 60 tickets from genuine Kopites for two such high-profile matches. Meanwhile, Liverpool fans have began to head in the opposite direction on official 'Friendship Trips' for the last three years - the first of which was organised in May 2007 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1977 European Cup final between the two teams in Rome. The affinity and hospitality the Borussia supporters show to their Red counterparts is incredible. In fact, each year we have travelled over, we have been invited out onto the Borussia Park pitch 20 minutes before kick-off to unveil our specially commissioned friendship flags The Borussia 'Nord Kurve' will then respond by delivering a moving rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' - it's truly magnificent and it has even been known to bring some LFC supporters to tears. Kopites heading over to Gladbach at the weekend for their first visit will be astonished at the level of friendliness towards everyone and everything to do with Liverpool FC. It is a weekend they will never forget. I'd like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all the Reds supporters who have joined me on our friendship visits to Gladbach for being superb ambassadors for both Liverpool FC and the city. I have to say thanks to the Borussia Moenchengladbach fan liaison officer Thomas 'Tower' Weinmann for his continued help and Thomas 'Jonny' Polcher and Matthes Neumann from the BMG Fan Projekt, as well as Willi Hartmann who has made every single visit to Liverpool. Any LFC supporters wishing to join me for the fifth consecutive friendship visit to Gladbach will be very welcome and details will be posted on various websites nearer the time, with the trip penciled in for April 2011. What created the bond between the two sets of fans? The friendship was forged over three decades ago during Borussia's glory days of the 1970s when they were at the peak of their powers and met Liverpool three times. The first of which was in the 1973 UEFA Cup final, with the Reds prevailing 3-2 on aggregate to lift the trophy. They met again in the never-to-be-forgotten 1977 European Cup final in Rome, and of course Liverpool were once again victorious to win the first of our famous five. The following year, they went head-to-head in the semi-final of the 1978 European Cup. Liverpool lost the first leg 2-1 at the Rhine Stadium in Dusseldorf, but emphatically ran out 3-0 winners in the Anfield return. It was during these matches supporters of both clubs struck up friendships which have lasted to the present day. I personally believe that the main reason for the affinity both sets of fans have for each other is also because Liverpool and Moenchengladbach are both working-class cities and they can, therefore, identify with each other. Also, the Borussia supporters are as passionate about their club as the LFC supporters are about ours. What sort of events take place to commemorate the friendship? Apart from the annual friendship trips in both directions, Kopites organise a 'Fan Party' in Liverpool city centre for the two sets of fans to celebrate their friendship together. Last year it was held in Flanagans Irish Pub. In your opinion, how unique is this friendship? Absolutely unique. Some clubs may have fleeting relationships with others, but where else in the world would you find a friendship in football between two sets of supporters from different countries stretching back almost 40 years? It's something both clubs and both sets of supporters should be proud of and hopefully uphold for future generations to continue to celebrate a truly amazing friendship. Remember when Liverpool fans travel to Germany and visa versa, their own club are not playing there - it is simply to show support to the other team and I do not believe there are any fans anywhere that would do this on such a regular basis. Are there ever any LFC banners/flags on display during Moenchengladbach games at Borussia Park? Countless and there are also LFC scarves and badges. Perhaps most remarkably of all, approximately 30 per cent of Borussia supporters actually watch their home matches wearing a Liverpool shirt. Moenchengladbach fans have also been supportive of the Hillsborough families, haven't they? Yes. In 1991 an official delegation of Moenchengladbach supporters flew to Liverpool to present a cheque for 21,000 Deutsch Marks (approximately £7,000) to the Hillsborough families. This was handed over to former Liverpool captain Ron Yeats and ex-director Sid Moss. A truly remarkable gesture that has never been forgotten. Tell us a bit about the modern-day Borussia Moenchengladbach. How have they done in recent years, who are their star players etc... The most well known Borussia players are Michael Bradley who was in the USA World Cup squad, Canadian striker Rob Friend and, of course, Oliver Neuville. Borussia finished in a reasonable mid-table position last season (12th) and will be looking to at least finish in the top 10 in the Bundesliga this term. During our last friendship visit to Gladbach in April, Borussia played at home to Champions League finalists Bayern Munich and held them to a 1-1 draw. But they could have easily won the game and proved they are a strong outfit.

  19. 2010 LIVERPOOL FC SUPPORTERS FRIENDSHIP VISIT TO MOENCHENGLADBACH OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE A party of Liverpool FC supporters last weekend made their 4th consecutive Friendship visit to Moenchengladbach in Germany to once again consolidate and enhance even further a very special friendship that goes back over 30 years to the 70’s decade. Liverpool and Borussia Moenchengladbach met in the UEFA Cup final in 1973, Liverpool winning 3-2 on aggregate and they also met in the1977 European cup final in the eternal city of Rome where Liverpool FC won their first ever of their five European cups, the Reds running out 3-1 winners. The two European giants met again the following season 1977/78 in the semi-final of the European Cup, Liverpool winning 4-2 on aggregate. Since these famous clashes there has been a very special friendship between the two sets of supporters which has resulted in Borussia MG supporters travelling to Liverpool every year since 1992 during the Bundesliga winter break to support the Reds at Anfield, and Liverpool FC supporters led by annual friendship visit organiser Graham Agg, have travelled to Gladbach annually since 2007. In 1991, a delegation of Borussia Moenchengladbach supporters travelled to Liverpool to present a cheque for 21000 for the Hillsborough families, an amazing gesture that has NEVER been forgotten on Merseyside. This year’s LFC supporters Friendship visit to Moenchengladbach took place from Friday 23rd April to Monday 26th April 2010. The trip involved a stadium tour of the impressive 54000 capacity Borussia Park, Borussia’s new home since 2004, which even has a corporate hospitality suite called the “Liverpool” suite! LFC supporters were amongst the sold out Borussia Park to support Borussia in their penultimate home match of the 2009/10 campaign versus record German Bundesliga Champions & conquerors of Manchester United in this season’s Champions league, & four times Champions of Europe - FC Bayern Munich. They saw Borussia, who are currently situated comfortably mid table in the Bundesliga top flight take the lead in a match that eventually finished in a fair draw. The Liverpool FC supporters were as usual invited to an all day match day party in the Borussia official “Fanhaus” with amazing scenes of friendship after Borussia’s 1-1 draw against the mighty FC Bayern. Just 15 minutes before Gladbach’s home match, the Liverpool supporters were invited on to the Borussia park pitch for the fourth consecutive year to once again present to their Borussia hosts a “Friendship flag”, a tradition the LFC fans started in 2007. Liverpool supporters this year also unveiled a second flag with the words emblazoned in German “Eine ganz besondere freundschaft” which translates to “A very special friendship”. The Borussia supporters on the famous “Nord Kurve” standing terraces, Borussia’s equivalent of the Kop, then greeted their Liverpool FC counterparts by singing an amazing rendition of “You’ll never walk alone”. This for many LFC supporters was the highlight of the visit and was a moment to treasure and many LFC fans were clearly moved by this amazing reception. The following day LFC supporters watched LFC’s 4-0 away victory at Turf Moor versus Burnley at a bar in the Moenchengladbach Old Market Square. The 2010 LFC Supporters annual Moenchengladbach Friendship visit was once again fully endorsed by Liverpool FC's Brian Hall, Liverpool FC Public Relations manager. For the 4th consecutive year, Brian Hall presented Friendship trip organiser Graham Agg with a Liverpool FC official match day shirt autographed by esteemed Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, a fantastic gift which was also presented to the Borussia Moenchengladbach Supporters Club by London based LFC supporter Jamie Rees-Winter, he had a LFC shirt from the 1977 European cup final autographed by all survivors of that amazing European cup final victory versus Borussia Moenchengladbach in Rome. This year 71 Liverpool FC supporters made the trek to Moenchengladbach, the best ever attended, the vast majority from the Merseyside region but there were also LFC fans from London, Crewe, Ireland, Switzerland, New Zealand and a group of German Reds from different parts of Germany. Organiser Graham Agg, stated that he wishes “to thank Thomas “Tower” Weinmann (Borussia MG Fan Liaision Officer), Matthes Neumann & Jonny Thomas Polcher (BMG Fan Projekt), for their help in organising the weekend. Also the Borussia Moenchengladbach fans and the citizens of Moenchengladbach for their unbelievable hospitality and friendship shown to the Liverpool fans during their stay. He also said that he would like to thank all the travelling Liverpool FC supporters for being superb ambassadors for Liverpool Football Club and the City of Liverpool”. He also stated that “this weekend has proven yet again that the Borussia Moenchengladbach & Liverpool FC friendship is absolutely unique in world football”. VIDEOS BELOW.
