  4. Gerrard is NOT a penalty taker full stop. He was quoted two seasons ago after missing a penalty against Spurs at Anfield "that's me finished taking penalties". Therefore WHY is he still taking them????????????????
  5. PROFESSOR TOM CANNON AND HIS INANE OPINIONS Please read below the opinions of Professor Tom Cannon from today's(10 December 2006)Mail on Sunday , that well known Evertonian who has reputedly been attempting for many years to gain a seat on Everton Football Club's board. Liverpool's potential new owners will be able to make a decent return on their £450 million investment only if they revisit proposals for a groundshare with arch-rivals Everton, according to a leading football finance expert. Last night insiders at both clubs dismissed the idea, but Professor Tom Cannon, dean of the University of Buckingham, insists the controversial move is the only way Dubai International Capital could make the deal work. Although Cannon rates the chances of the Dubai takeover going through as high, he believes that DIC could still walk away if they cannot see a way of significantly increasing profits. DIC are the private equity arm of the Dubai state, whose leader is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashin Al Maktoum, reputedly the fifth richest man in the world. A groundshare would meet with huge opposition from both sides of the Merseyside divide. Everton were once keen on the long-mooted idea, but they are now further down the road with plans to move to Kirby than Liverpool are with proposals for a new stadium in Stanley Park and would not want to feel beholden to their rivals or their new owners. But government and development agencies have always made it clear they would give increased political and financial backing to a shared stadium. Cannon said: "When DIC have invested in other businesses, they have been looking for a return of about 10 per cent per year on their money. "In the last three years, Liverpool have averaged a profit of £1m-£2m. Even if DIC are looking to increase the profits to £20m, the only way I can see them doing it is by building a shared stadium. A hotel and other facilities would bring in a certain amount of money with one team, but with two they could make a lot more money." But Professor Cannon has joined other experts in warning that the Sheikh will not be matching the Chelsea transfer spree funded by Roman Abramovich. Cannon said: "I'm told that the Sheikh is far from impressed with the publicity surrounding the bid and the suggestion he is the new Abramovich. "DIC are an investment company and they will not be looking at Liverpool out of sentiment or just as a way of raising the country’s profile. You could buy an awful lot of advertising for £450m." This is a view from a so-called "expert" who's views and financial predictions unfortunately leave an awful lot to be desired, for example, a year ago he told us that Manchester United's defeat at Benfica "could be disastrous" because they would struggle to attract a new sponsor which could "ultimately cost them between £50 million and £100 million" HE WAS WRONG. Prior to that he'd said the Glazers would never take over at Old Trafford: "It is one thing for Roman Abramowich to buy Chelsea, it is quite another to try and get hold of Manchester United" WRONG AGAIN. In May 2004 he claimed that there would be "a long term fight" between Steve Morgan and the Thai Prime Minister", it might get dirty" and "Granada with their 9.9% stake in the club, could end up being the powerbrokers in this deal" YET AGAIN HE WAS WRONG. Maybe, Professor Tom Cannon is a Evertonian living in hope that if they continue to hang on to the shirt tails of Liverpool Football Club, maybe, just maybe the new investors from Dubai will sit up and take notice, but don't hold your breath Professor Cannon. DIC are used to being associated with winners and that is something Liverpool Football Club know all about as proven by their quite recent Champions League victory and the fact in the last 20 years and their haul of 14 major trophies to Everton's paltry one. THANK GOODNESS, PROFESSOR CANNON IS NOT MY TEACHER.::blah
  6. Here is an Email i received on 15 March 2006, amazing how many things have come true since then:- 15 March 2006 The rumours gaining credibility about the feeder club to Manchester United. There is continuing stories linking Everton FC becoming a feeder club for Manchester United. These stories have continued unabated for approximately 12 months without either Manchester United or Everton wishing to either confirm or refute whether they are true or just malicious rumours. It is certainly true that the presence of Manchester united manager Alex Ferguson and his assistants are a regular occurrence at Goodison Park Even recently at Goodison, United manager was spotted in the directors box for the Everton home game versus Tottenham Hotspurs, also in attendance was the United manager’s skipper Gary Neville. The agreement for Everton to become a feeder club for G14 giant Manchester United was apparently forged during negotiations for the transfer of Wayne Rooney from Everton to Manchester United in 2004. Bill Kenwright and the Everton board of directors were adamant that negotiations were kept top secret due to Football League regulations in regard to relationships between football clubs, particularly in the same division. Ferguson is believed to be making in-roads into formulating the transfer of Mikel Arteta to Old Trafford. Arteta was a guest of the Manchester United for the disappointing 0-0 draw against relegated Sunderland. Arteta was spotted in the directors box sitting next to Manchester United chairman David Gill. It has also been reported on numerous occasions of Ferguson’s admiration of Everton midfielder Tim Cahill, a United swoop for the classy Everton midfield maestro should also certainly not be ruled out. Obviously to become a feeder club for one particular club also needs to benefit the feeder club on the field of play as well as financially and this has been put into place, to allow Everton to have first choice of United outcasts. This allowed Everton to have first choice in signing England international Phillip Neville, and is also why Everton have asked Ferguson on more than one occasion on the availability of United goalkeeper Tim Howard, a deal for the United keeper should not be ruled out in the near future. Many figures have been mentioned but it is rumoured that Everton Football Club are receiving in the region of £4.5 million a year for the arrangement. This figure represents a paltry sum for the Glazer-run football empire but for a club in Everton’s finanacial predicament represents an absolute financial godsend – and Kenwright knows it. Everton supremo David Moyes has also asked Ferguson on the eligibility of John O’Shea, but at present Ferguson is loathe to conclude a deal, but is willing to offer Everton first choice when he is made available. It has also been reported that Moyes was very keen on midfielder Paul Scholes, and was surprisingly not discouraged by the United Boss- watch this space. Manchester United have for approximately 12 months been watching Oldham Athletics prolific under-19 goalscorer and fanatical United fan Scott Spencer, and Ferguson has reportedly given the go-ahead for Everton FC to sign him to bring him along until the time comes for United to sign him from the Toffees for a nominal fee. Everton and Manchester United will eventually refute these allegations but like most things in life the truth will out, and then it will be very interesting how the powers-that-be react and punish the two parties. United’s footballing empire under the guidance of new owner Malcolm Glazer continues to grow unabated, with footballing feeder clubs across almost all the continents, Europe with clubs in Belgium and England (Everton), Asia, Australasia and they are now in the process of successfully setting up feeder clubs in the African continent. The puzzling question that does need answering is how did Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright agree to once English giant Everton become a laughing stock of English football, Everton once known as the Mersey Millionaires are now nothing other than a down and out also-ran and for Everton Football Club in particular the future looks decidedly bleak. Bill Kenwright Everton saviour, more like Kenwright the traitor.
  7. FAMOUS HORSE OWNER TO MAKE BID TO BUY EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB Word reaches me that a famous horse owner is on the verge of making a bid to buy Everton Football Club, to read more about this, please click on the link below:-[/b] http://forum.myphorum.de/read.php?f=12021&i=20642&t=20642#reply_20642
  8. THANK YOU TO RICK PARRY AND DAVID MOORES Once again the much maligned Liverpool FC Chief Executive Rick Parry has pulled off the coup of the football world with the proposed takeover of Liverpool Football Club by the Dubai International Corporation (DIC). If this deal is successfully concluded, it will bring LFC untold riches and make them without a shadow of a doubt the richest Football Club on the planet. This is the second major masterstroke that Rick Parry and Chairman David Moores have completed after the acquirement of what many people consider the most tactically astute coach in europe 29 months ago in Rafael Benitez. Hopefully, the powers-that-be at Dubai International Corporation realise the expertise of Parry and allow him to continue his position as Chief Executive and also David Moores to remain on the board as honourary president as a thank you for the many years of hard work on behalf of Liverpool FC. To David Moores and Rick Parry on behalf of all Liverpool supporters - THANK YOU.
  9. Get your half season tickets NOW!!! The blue shite (Everton) are always game for a laugh, and I had a good one in hearing them advertise on local radio for sale half-season tickets for sale as the ideal Christmas present. What a sad club, if you want a season ticket to watch that shite you can walk down to Woodison and get one TODAY. If you want a Liverpool FC season ticket, write to the club, and put your name on the waiting list, which stands apparently at the last count approaching 30,000 peole and you may have one in approximately 8 years - and that's if you're lucky. Remember also, last season when they were drawn at home to Chelsea in the FA Cup 4th or 5th round - who were and still are the current Premiership English champions, it wasn't a televised match. What was the attendance? Let me remind you...................28,000, yeah that's right 28,000 against Chelsea..............................unbelievable and that my friends sums up our "friends" from across the park. Oh yeah, let's not forget the DVD they have brought out for Christmas, the 3-0 win against us in a league match this season!!!!! Funny that, we beat them 3-1 home and away last season and i can't remember seeing the DVD for sale! Sad club, sad Chairman, sad stadium.................but most of all sad supporters if you can call them that.......................remember also the day we played Chelsea in August in the Charity Shield, 56,000 in the Millenium stadium, only 13,000 Chelsea fans, 43,000 Liverpool fans, the same day they played a testimonial at Woodison for their greatest ever manager. Howard Kendall ..................the attendance..17,868. I REST MY CASE.................................
  10. Obviously posted by a Manc or a bitterblue, fuck off you time wasting idiot. Rafa - the best manager in Europe bar none, wenger - 10 years at Arsenal, they still await their first European Cup. Ferguson 20 years at Old Trafford, they have won 1 European Cup. Rafa took over in July 2004, and picked up the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE in May 2005, 10 MONTHS TO WIN THE BIG ONE, and that my friend will never be forgotten.
  11. I invited as guest to Saturday's match Liverpool versus Manchester City at Anfield Mr Tom Smith, no, not the Liverpool football legend from Liverpool's great heydays of the 1960's and 1970's but a man who was very influential in securing Liverpool's right to defend the Champions League trophy after the "miracle of Istanbul" in the triumph over AC Milan on penalties after the 3-3 scoreline after 120 minutes on the 25th May 2005. Tom Smith is a Manchester City fan of many years standing, but originates from Scotland. He, like many football supporters was captivated by the events of Istanbul and what is without doubt the greatest night in the history of European football. Anyway, Tom set up a web site in the form of a on-line petition called fairplaytoliverpool.co.uk to lobby UEFA and FIFA representatives to allow Liverpool Football Club the right to defend their trophy that they won so gloriously on that night in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The on-line petition received over 40,000 signatures worldwide in only a few days and was forwarded on to the UEFA and FIFA officials. I have no doubt that Tom through setting up his petition was very influential in lobbying UEFA to come to the rightful decision and allow Liverpool FC to defend their trophy. When I found out about this petition - I contacted him directly to thank him. Once again, I'd like to say from all Liverpool supporters to Tom - thank you. The petition is still on-line, to see the petition please click on the link below:- http://www.fairplaytoliverpool.co.uk/ Cheers, Graham
