The club needed a clear out and restructuring(still) or it doesn't, which is it? Paying off of the contracts just shows they're prepared to pay to get what they want. Would you rather we kept Woy for the sake of some compensation?

 

How anyone could argue they're cheap i don't know. We've spent plenty of money, not untold amounts, but enough to be have been challenging for fourth easily.

They gave Woy the contract, they gave the others their contracts.... It's one thing replacing a disaster like Woy, who they decided in their wisdom to appoint and give a long term contract, but Kenny/Clarke/bruckner/Commolli/aso - just proves they're pretty shit at employing people! Or put another way they're mistakes have cost a lot the TRY to fix, as we await the new employments...

If you think buying Henderson for Meireles, even considering the shit price we paid is ambitious your deluded... They wanted Meireles out and Henderson in because of their salary difference....

The cost of wages go directly against your income, whilst the transfer cost can be written off over the contract period! If Henderson got a 5 year deal he cost us 3,2 mill + wages a year, whilst Meireles cost us ( 4 year deal at 12 mill - 3 mill) + much higher wages... In other words we have a cheaper player against the EBITDA and the EBIT than we had in Meireles... They reduced costs and got an inferior replacement...

This is also the reason I expect them letting Maxi and Kuyt go this summer as It'll reduce wages when they replace them...

How much money have been wasted on compensations by the owners now? 8 million to Woy, Kenny? Commolli?, all the others?

Probably enough to have bought Banega, Ericsen or Diego - bloody depressing....

Probably the only reason they talk about a young manager is that he'll be cheap....

Lets face it though, this season has been a disaster. Not only has an incredible amount of money been wasted but the performances have been terrible too. Maybe Kenny should have had one more season but I cant say I had complete faith in him turning it around.

 

At the end of the day FSG are the owners and they obviously wont tolerate what they perceive to be underachievment. Whether it is the correct decision remains to be seen but I wont be making judgment until a new manager has been appointed and we can see if they really mean business or not.

 

We've been ruled by our hearts for far too long at this football club and the game has moved a long way from when we were last truly successful.

 

Let's see what FSG's next move is.

Who the hell is supposed to handle our transfers this summer? The minute other teams are making their business and we're stranded with no strategy, targets or ideas of who to let go, blood will start to boil, and they can sure as hell expect their honeymoon to be over!

To me, the way they have sacked management and replaced older well paid players with younger ones with less ability and salary, it seems they are lowering costs to make a profit and have shown no ambition whatsoever as owners....

They need to get this appointment right and spend money or they can fuck off as far as I am concerned...

The manager position in limbo and our football director sacked - do we have control over our planed transfer business this summer? I fear the Yanks know fuck all about the transfer market like the nuggets before them and we'll be left in the wake of other teams actually having a transfer strategy in place......

No, it's clear what they're assuming. There have been hundreds, possibly thousands of posts on here saying that Kenny can't be trusted to spend our transfer budget properly this summer, many of them leading to the conclusion that he should be replaced. These people are talking about a man who's built title-winning sides at two clubs with his own signings. Ergo, they believe that Kenny has forgotten how to do this, and that failures like last summer are all we can expect from him from now on.

 

And that's an interesting claim about good players not signing for clubs outside the top six. Got to admit, that's a development that's passed me by.

Yet, Henderson/Adam/Carroll/Enrique/Downing for a combined amount of £ 85+ does not fill me with confidence...

I mean how can you go from buying Barnes to buying Downing? How do you try to replace Meireles with Henderson? Who in their right mind thinks Adam can dominate the midfield both attacking and defending wise?

I would love Kenny to succeed, and I think he should be given another year, but deep down I fear he'll fuck up this summer like last year and leave us in a position that will be hard to rectify.....

His insistence of playing out of form players he himself bought over better performers were rather strange and cannot help the atmosphere and attitude of the unfavored in the squad..

We desperately need:

At least 1 central midfielder, maybe 2 as we should shift Spearing and Adam someplace else.

A least 1 forward who actually knows how to score, but most big clubs have 4 qualified attackers, so we really should buy 2 in addition to Suarez and Carroll.

We need two wingers, maybe three if we manage to send Downing packing.....

And please no more British overpriced mediocrity, aim for the top of the bunch...

Just because he has not challenged for the title at WIGAN does that automatically disqualify him for getting a bigger gig? With the budget and young teams he's fielded I think he has done great...

For the record I'd like Kenny to get another year, and if he is shifted than I have candidates who I would want before RM, but he is a good manager, who tries to play exciting football....

Who knows maybe he could make more out of a team with more experience and qualities? Just a thought!

Very satisfying win indeed. It has been a hugely frustrating season, but that showed us a few things for next season. I feel a new team is starting to emerge. 3 good signings in the summer and the sort of application we showed tonight, and this team can do anything next season.

We're further away of having a first 11 and a squad to deal with the PL and EL than that, especially since we look to offload players as well... We have done nothing to give youngsters experience to cover for that loss, so we need to do a lot more deals than 3!
