  1. I`d say you could argue Lucas was around our 8/9th best player last year and get away with it.

For Modric, not even in the wildest fantasy world has he been anything close to be the best player in the league, neither in the past, not at present and with 99,99& accuracy never in the future either.

Yes he can run with the ball and go past a few players but does that make him the best player in the PL, hardly.

Meireles created more attacks, assistsed more goals, scored more goals, tackled more, won more of his tackles, had more shot on goals, hit goal with a better percentage of his shots.

Meireles is now seen as a waste from some of our fans while others claims Modric was the best player in the PL?

Best at what, looking like a cartoon rat?

Why didn't he just win the ball instead? Pretty poor, that. Anyway, I hope we keep him.

  2. As owners the only thing they can compare it with is Roy Hogdson, and the difference is massive. Anyone must be impressed, and you could see the effect immediately.

Saw this interview on BBC... It`s almost like football porn. You just got to love the man.

BBC Sport - Football - Kenny Dalglish salutes 'exciting' signing Luis Suarez

"They love someone who loves to come here." Nuff said.

EDIT: Dunney Boy said it first.

  3. Some of the bullshit being spouted about Hodgson is ridiculous, especially considering that a lot of it is coming from people who condemned the same stuff being said about the previous boss.

    It does my head in.

I can't remember any previous boss publicly giving such a sarcastic remark about one of our own players. I refer to the "miraculous recovery" bit, forgive me if you think I read to much into it, but that sort of thing is not particularly pleasant reading.

  4. Exactly. Why fire Rafa if you're going to bring Roy in?

Because 'well, we didn't expect more than a point at Brum' in post-match interviews is more comfortable than 'I have serious problems working with CEOs and owner who fail to deliver on their word and act against the best interest of the club', maybe?

  5. It wasn't a sending off, nando would never have got there before the keeper. Similar thing happened last year with carra/owen

He followed the rules of OT, last man down, yellow card.

No use in sulking though, they deserved the win anyway, but it was clearly a red

I think I agree with Irishlad on this, there's has to be a goalscoring opportunity to produce a red card, and the ball was more or less in the keeper's hands when Torres was fouled. The Sky commentators kept going on about 'last man, red card', but surely this must be a misunderstanding of the actual rules?

  6. why should they?

you tell me why fernando Torres should come out and put his neck on the block to stand up for fans thats wont/cant fight their own battles?

    why bother.

we need to prove we are fighting back THEN the players may speak out to keep it going and to drum up more support for the fight but The players are not going to lead this charge and nor should they

I don't see why not. There have been lots of signals from Torres's camp that he sees a change in ownership as an absolute demand for staying on, so he - and we - should expect the media to come calling when, or before, Hicks gets his new deal. It's only natural that he's asked again whether he wants to stay, and if he doesn't there is no reason for him to conceal the reasons for it.

It is evident that the club is run by participants that do not have the sporting ambitions that both we the fans and the top players would expect. Continuing under Hicks ownership, with debt shifted to an even more expensive creditor, will make this as clear as crystal. Therefore, I'd expect Torres not only to leave the club (maybe as soon as in the January window), but to voice his reasons as well. Players like Gerrard, Carragher and Reina must surely understand that keeping on at LFC will not conclude their careers as they desire, so there should be a chance that they actually would like to leave. Sure, they love the club and would rather play in a mediocre LFC team than whichever money fueled club like City or Chelsea, but doesn't it sooner or later become pointless playing for a club that doesn't aim to win trophies?

  7. Boro offal:

    No Deal Agreed For Brad

BORO have this afternoon confirmed that they have not reached an agreement with any club for the sale of goalkeeper Brad Jones.

Despite reports elsewhere, there has been no deal agreed for the Australia international.

Asked if his number one goalkeeper will be available for selection for the trip to Leicester City at the weekend, manager Gordon Strachan said: "I've no idea, we'll pick a squad tomorrow of available people."

Jones is yet to appear for Boro this season. He was suspended for the opening day game against Ipswich, when Danny Coyne played, while teenager Jason Steele was given his first team debut in the Carling Cup in midweek.

"The big bonus is Jason Steele did terrifically well at Chesterfield," said Strachan.

"Danny Coyne was excellent in the dressing room with Jason, as was Brad. Between the two of them, they got a real performance out of Jason.

"He's a talented keeper. He's been brought up the right way, he's confident without being arrogant, and he has a chance of becoming a good goalkeeper."

Asked if there was anything in reports suggesting Boro are keen on bringing Sunderland defender Matthew Kilgannon in on loan, Strachan said there was "nothing happening".

He admitted he may be speaking to Steve Bruce later today, although whether Kilgannon would be on the agenda was not made clear.

  8. Get Cole and Defoe on inject some pace into the team get Lampard and Heskey off move gerrard into the middle have Barry holding Gerrard can bomb on play at a higher tempo quick passing some movement off the ball. simple

Problem is, you'll still have Rooney and Lennon out there, fucking up.

  9. Have you ever heard me say much about Carra or Mascherano whatever form they might have been in?

If you want me to say something I can tell you that I think Mascherano overall is a very limited player, but in his specific restricted role he is one of the best players in the world.

I did not criticise Mascherano in early season either as I did not really think he played any worse than what he usually does, so why should I praise the way he is playing now?

For me he does his job to a good level so I dont feel the need to either praise him or slate him, simple as that.

Carra? He`s an average fullback overall, but obviously good at defending, certainly better than Johnson, but do I feel the need to praise a defender for actually being able to defend, not really, as thats what I expct him to be able to do.

Lucas, Kuyt and N`Gog are not able to do the job I expect a player in their position to do so then I will obviously try to point that out as thats an area where we need to improve, just like I will point out the obvious mistakes our managers have made over the years.

Again I expect him to do a good job for this club and when he do not I will point it out, if he does something better than what I expect him to do then I will praise him for it, but sadly its been a while since this happened.

The Rafael Benitez school of man management.

  10. I was just gonna post that , Infact I will as posters will want to read the article.

So we want Chamakh , for now or the summer ?

Liverpool hold talks with Marouane Chamakh as Atletico Madrid's Maxi Rodriguez edges closer to Anfield deal

The Greek side have offered around £5million and wages of £40,000 a week tax free for Israeli Benayoun but Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will not sell. He may be swayed on Riera, who has failed to capitalise on a good first season at Anfield.

Andrea Dossena is on the verge of completing his £4.5m transfer to Napoli but his agent says the four-and-a-half-year deal has been held up by the weather.

‘He can’t leave Liverpool because of the snow,’ said Roberto La Floria.

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh’s representatives held talks with Liverpool yesterday over signing a pre-contract agreement.

Atletico Madrid’s Maxi Rodriguez is expected to agree terms with Liverpool over the next 24 hours.

    So he stays, then? Bummer.

  11. For those who don't know, Johns Fredriksen is Norway's wealthiest man. Well, now he's a citizen of Cyprus to save tax. He's made his fortune in shipping and oil, and is well-known for taking extreme risk (which has led him close to bankruptcy in the past). Before the financial crisis his fortune was estimated to about 4 billion pounds.

He owns the most expensive mansion in the Chelsea-area, IIRC.

  12. Didn't the commentators on norwegian Canal+ say there were fighting in directors stand? Something about not seen scenes like this since fighting amongst directors of VIF and Besiktas in the cupwinnerscup back in the 90s?

I don't think they mentioned any fighting, but they were noticing a great deal of agitiation and emotional outbursts among the people in the directors stand. They were mightly impressed that someone sitting there was actually arsed about the game.
