  1. What's the argument here? That we should keep hold of players we know aren't good enough rather than sign new ones, because there's a risk the new ones won't be good enough either?

The argument is that our manager gets rid of any and every player in the team with any leadership or bollocks, leaving himself with a load of yes men. Then complains about having no experience in the team as though it's not his fault.

He's the manager, he can get rid of whoever he wants, but it's down to him that the team has no players with any bottle in it.

Bit like him playing 7 midfielders with 3 forwards on the bench, then complaining about us not having any goal threat.

  2. How's it obvious?  The club isn't making a profit, we're spending what we earn.  The problem is Rodgers and his band of merry men keep spending our large budget on absolute shite.

This is a fallacy perpetuated by the club.  They've been paying off huge debt they kept on the club so they bought us for a cheap price for the last few years, which is why our finances haven't looked too hot.

This years financial accounts predict  over £50m profit for the period over the last 12 months.

Their plan has been - and remains - to strangle the wage bill so they can pay for the new stand out of operating profit over the next 4-5 years.

We could easily be affording to pay as much in wages as Arsenal for example. Instead this is how the average wage per first team player (k per week) has gone over the last few years :

And this summer we're losing Stevie and Johnson.

  3. It was widely reported by most sources he was off while now most sources are saying BRs job will not be under threat at that meeting.

    Nah.

Dalglish to hold talks with Anfield owners at end of season over Kop future

Talks: Kenny Dalglish will discuss his Anfield future at the end of the season

    |

Kenny Dalglish has revealed will discuss his Anfield future with the club's owners at the end of the season.

The Scot, who is not under any immediate pressure from Americans John Henry and Tom Werner, will keep to his pre-planned schedule of assessing the Reds' season once the Barclays Premier League is over despite Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea.

With the Merseyside outfit anchored in mid-table, their final two matches - against Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday and at Swansea next Sunday - will have nothing at stake but pride.

However, there will be no summit meeting with Henry to discuss a season which has brought some silverware in the Carling Cup.

But while Dalglish failed to get the Reds nearer to breaking back into the Premier League's elite, it is understood he will be given more time to turn his team into top-four challengers.

'The owners will do the same as us,' said Dalglish.

'They will sit and analyse the season when it is finished.

  4. I don't think Benitez would get us into the top four.

No more regularly than Rodgers will/would, anyway.

    Yeah Rafa is fucking useless.

He's presently in his seventh European semi final in the last twelve years btw.

As for what he's won in the last decade :

Here's his net spend btw to put that into context.

That one  year of decent spend included Torres for £20mill, Macherano for £18mill and Skrtel for £6mill.

In his final year, with a neg £8mill spend, he brought in Sterling for £500k.

  5. And won fuck all, all our great history and the days weirdos like you pine after are the ones where we won......................nothing! Bizarre.

    I'm not pining for anything.

It would be nice to not get out tacticed by managers like Neil Lennon and Tim Sherwood, not be the laughing stock of Europe against Ludogorets and Basel, resting seven first team players against Real for a Prem game a full four days later because they're knackered because the manager can't rotate. A Prem game which we lost at home anyway.

It would be nice to not spunk £120million up against the wall and have Lovren and Markovic to show for it.

It would be nice if the manager didn't frog march any player with balls and experience out of the club and then blame young players when we lose important games.

  6. Rafa made worse and more costly signings then Rodgers and there is no excuses for what went on with Alonso summer.

    This is bollocks.

Rafas net spend by year (end) in millions :

    LFCRAFASPEND.png

That one year of decent spend brought in Torres (£20m),  Mascherano (£18m) and Lucas (£5m) not to mention Skerts at £6m.

The year before the 86 points season we had  zero net spend and the year following it  we made 8 mill profit on transfers. As an aside, that last summer Rafa picked up Sterling for £500k up front and clauses.

BRs most expensive signings are Lallana, Lovren and Markovic.

  7. My way do I want Rafa back. The man will always have my respect for his first few years but the ladt couple were a disater. Red Knight said it earlier, stop looking backwards to go forwards

The last couple ?  08/09 we got 86 points, with a +50 goal difference, only conceding 27 goals all season.  Only the QF of the Champions league I'll give you - a massive disappointment

Like I said, how soon we forget.

  8. Fuck's sake, we're not some Mickey Mouse club. Only two teams have won more European Cups than us. We're a fucking giant of a club but we seem to have accepted a place in the food chain below no marks like PSG and Chelsea.

In many respects we are a Mickey Mouse club. We always used to take the piss out of other clubs fans for thinking they were something they aren't and living in the past.

The fans, our traditions, our values are all a world apart from anyone else. But aside from that the club is riddled with inexperience and incompetence from top to bottom.

  9. He brought that Valencia team to anfield with the permed one playing and we didnt get a fucking touch they played us off the park

I was sat about 15 foot away from Bernard Diomede at the friendly when he literally disappeared up his own arse to never be seen again after chasing shadows for an hour trying to get a touch of the ball.

    They were amazing.

  10. Can we really gamble by waiting to see if rafa comes good? I don't for one moment that we have any say in it, and I don't think the yanks will do anything untill it's too late. But the bottom line is, if we finnish outside the top 4 next summer the yanks will sell Torres in a blink to pay the bills.

Its fuck all to do with Rafa.

The owners are a pair of leeches. our debt is costing more in interest every year than the club makes.

We are on the slide and will be until we get rid of the pair of scummers who own us.

If Rafa went it would only hasten our decline.

  11. It always makes me smile when people think that owners place there personal wealth in a football club this is only the case at Chelsea and Man City and the reason for that is in the hope that they can get a return on that money through the CL endorsements shirt sales ticket sales advertising sponsors corporate etc taking turnover from £80m to £300m at which point they sell up and take a profit or they start to recover the money year on year

We just sold our player of the year and didn't reinvest the money. That means they have taken the first, predicted, step to us being a selling club.

Not sure that should be making you smile, mate.

Every year they get worse and bit by bit we accept it. Something needs doing about these clowns.

  12. Every season Kuyt goes about 3 or 4 months stinking the place out but doesn't get stick from his fans or our pragmatic manager as he "works hard". Its revisionism to suggest "He was scoring throughout the season" - check the facts... look at specially between November and February and then reassess what you typed.

It's no coincidence Kuyts poor spells coincide with us playing 4 4 2 or when he has to play up top. He has very rarely been poor on the right of a 4 2 3 1.
