    He would be ideal.

Started out as a right back but moved in to CDM. He would be a massive upgrade on Fabinho.

    So same path as Fab.

I’ve just realised it was the Ivan Wankoff fella: so unlikely to be true …

    but sounds a decent player

Do you not think after the season we had last year, a bit of a change in culture might be a good thing? And having a captain who seems more aligned to doing his best for England than his club is not ideal? Everyone in the squad must have seen what we all saw last season, that he just doesn't have the legs unless he's used sparingly, so his continued presence with the national team is to the detriment of his club responsibilities. I agree 10m is low, I can't quite believe that's how low our bar is, but it just tells me nobody at the club thinks it's a bad thing if he's gone.

And if it wasn't for all this Saudi madness, if we'd have been offered 10m from say athletico Madrid after his season last year, we'd all be pretty happy.

It’s balance isn’t it, we don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water but equally we need to refresh.

In 2002 we got rid of a lot of experience off the back of the treble and then finishing 2nd, bought in Diouf n Diao to kick in but and regressed.

We’ll never know what these sliding doors opportunities will bring good or bad, so it’s one of those where we just got to trust the mgmt to get it right.

I would echo those putting importance on culture and leadership and wouldn’t want to lose Hendo as well as Millie, but can see why people are saying they didn’t ‘lead’ last year, even if I think that was a collective team mental and physical fatigue issue from the failed quadruple effort.

I’d also echo those saying throwing a whole new midfield together could take a while to get, but maybe Klopp wants a total rebuild this year, to give him a full 3 years with a fresh reshaped squad, before he leaves ?

still need a CB too Colwill or Gvardiol

It might be denial, but until this happens I refuse to believe it's going to happen. I just can't believe he – of all people – would do it. And the shape he's got himself in? Why would he bother doing that in the off season just to go and play in a pretend league?

Ornstein in the Athletic now saying it’s true, real shocker

  4. Joyce

Saudi clubs keen to lure Jordan Henderson from Liverpool

    Paul Joyce

Nevertheless, the courting of the England international is entering a decisive few days and comes with Jürgen Klopp boasting nine midfielders in his squad after the summer signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined £95 million.

The futures of Alcântara, who is also wanted in the Middle East as the Saudi Pro League continues an expensive recruitment drive, and Fabinho have also come under scrutiny given the question of how Klopp is going to keep all of his midfielders happy.

It remains to be seen whether the Liverpool manager will initiate talks with his players over the situation given he has also been checking on another midfielder in Southampton’s Roméo Lavia.

Klopp has always said he will try and find a solution for those who come to him early enough in pre-season and state a desire to leave.

However, he will want clarity and, with Liverpool heading to Germany for a training camp on Saturday, it is a pivotal period.

If the situation was simply about cashing in on the finances being offered, then a deal might have already been struck but the landscape is more complicated, especially in the case of Henderson given his standing with England and next summer’s European Championships finals in Germany. Gareth Southgate’s side are among the favourites to lift the trophy.

Henderson returned to pre-season training on Tuesday, having already spent a chunk of his summer working with a personal fitness instructor to ensure he is ready to hit the ground running.

Liverpool have seen vice captain James Milner leave on a free transfer, along with Naby Keïta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Neither Keita nor Oxlade-Chamberlain featured heavily last season with Henderson making 43 appearances.

Not really what Joyce has said.

    Interest real.

    No bid made.

There won't be a bid unless the player indicates they would want the move.

Bascombe seems to have dramatised this into some crunch time dilemma. The story is basically the ball is in Henderson's court.

Unless training and friendlies show he's right out of favour I don't think it's all that likely. He looks like he's coming into training wanting to make an impression and fight for his place, not sack it off.

Isn’t that what I said ? He’s considering his future ? Obviously he will be aware of the interest and any offer. He’s not being pushed, he wants to think about it and we’ll move on from there.

either way I agree with you last point, he looks like he got fit to really keep his place for this season.

How the fuck did Gordon get player of the tournament then?

I haven't watched any of it, so genuine question.

Due to him playing for Geordie Arabia maybe ? Looks good for them with PotT title ?

On the other hand when our injury prone defenders (still the case) were injured a few seasons back, he was instrumental in helping us get top 4.

Ideally he'd stay as he's more useful than the £8.5m, but I understand he ultimately deserves to play first team footie.

Agree with this, plus with Europa league this season he could get a raft of games to let VVD rest and not travel, to give him some mental and physical breaks.

I'm not sure, if that title goes if it could be replaced. Nobody really buys newspapers now. People who do buy it are of an age where they probably don't move to anything else. Notw to the rag was easy as they were one and the same anyway and of course the rag can bring its daily following to a sinday. They could build something online and maybe more powerful as it will connect with a younger audience. But nobody, not even Murdoch, is building a new paper in this age.

I hope you’re right and yes, you’re right circulation of papers has reduced but in spite of all that its still driven the national media agenda for 3 days and taken from other potential topics which would maybe have harmed its ideological partners. I.e the tories

    I’ll just hope you’re correct

It’s not about the money it makes, it’s about influence. I really hope it’s fucked up here. The NOTW closure was fantastic, the Scum closing down, now that would be a win.

It was and would be a great day, but NOTW just became the Sunday s*n, so if it does fold, it’ll just rise again under another title as the influence for Murdoch and the right is too great, that pulpit someone said.

It also still kept BoJos WhatsApp’s and Osbounre email out of the headlines so the fuckers still win.

Or that Rag pushed out its other story to cover for Osborne ?

He's predominantly a Youtube blert, but has a show on Netflix aimed at preschoolers.

My kids turned it on one day and I barred it instantly as he annoyed me so fucking much.

This is one of only two programes I've stopped the kids from watching and i told them simply he'd died, when they asked how? I told them under the weight of his own stupidity.

He did scat 'comedy' before he made it as a kids entertainer.
