Some people on this forum appear to share the view that Johnson is not good enough and that it would be an alltogether good thing if the transfer fell through. Surely they are missing the point here?! Rafa wants him to the extent that a fee has been agreed with Portsmouth and thats all that really matters. If he signs for another team some 6 days after we originally agreed a fee, surely it suggests that we have been unable agree either personal terms with the player (probably due to other interested parties making their play) or we have once again been unable to get our finances in order in time to push the deal through before the Chelsea juggernaut roles into action! Time will tell but if it transpires that the latter is true, it just another damning indictment of the state of the current regime at Anfield and any claim of "GOOD RIDDANCE" where Johnon is concerned simply masks the fact that yet another transfer target has slipped through our fingers.
What message does this send out to the likes of alonso and mascherano when we are unable to compete to any significant extent in the transfer market?!
