Take your mind back to when we had just appointed Benitez as the new Liverpool manager. Everyone was excited at his arrival, it seemed, and there was great optimism around what he’d bring to Liverpool.
I didn’t watch too much of his Valencia team, however I did read a lot about Benitez and it seemed that most thought he’d make his Liverpool team play:
- With more width, as we looked narrow at times under Houiller.
- Not as reliant on individuals, as we were with Owen.
- Quick one and two touch passing.
- High tempo.
- More movement.
- More creativity, as we saw with Aimar at Valencia.
- A true team, attacking and defending as a unit.
Now what do you think we have seen since Benitez has arrived at the club?
Has anything surprised you, what you think we would see but haven’t really yet in practice?
It would be nice to see what you thought we’d see and what we have actually seen. We might have seen some nice aspects from Benitez that we didn’t expect, such as his passion for Liverpool, which I didn’t expect. But by contrast we might have hoped to see some things on the pitch that we haven’t seen as of yet.
