There are things in place to install more average speed cameras and a revamp of the fines. 2 points and 6 points, meaning if your caught twice doing over 15 mph in 3 years you'll lose your licence.
I agree that in built up areas speed should be controlled but I believe this can be done through education, classes and financial fines. I don't believe it can be done by living in fear and constantly being monitored by the man.
I often drive home in the wee hours (having had a kip) up the M1 and I have to 40mph when there's only 3 other cars on the road.
Taking away peoples ability to support their families will surely only lead to criminalise more people.
