I don't know who, I know my first choice is Toulalan without a shadow of a doubt but I doubt it happens. Why? Because we simply don't have a holding midfielder in the team and with the wealth of attacking options we now have (though I believe we still need at least one more back up striker) whatever Roy chooses to do he needs that clever, sturdy presence that will cover his back 4. The options are there and the decision that Roy makes now is vital to how we perform and where we finish. I like Lucas, there I said it. I like his attitude and I think he's a better player than we've seen but he's neither one thing nor the other. Box to box players have to be great in the tackle, driving forces or goalscorers and he's none of the above. As a holding player he does a job but I don't think it is his role and I don't think he'll ever be good enough at it. I really hope I'm wrong! Say we bring in a talented support striker for Torres to play off in a 4-4-2 we need two things we don't have, a left back and holding midfielder. Maybe that player ends up being Jovanovic and I do like the lad but I want to see at least another striker to challenge for that role. We have the options though even now, we don't at holding midfield. Say we go to the 4-2-3-1 to accomodate our wealth of new creative talent. Torres Cole Aquilani ? Again I love the lad's attitude and heart but he's not good enough on that right side. 4-3-3 Jovanovic can play on the left Torres middle who on the right? Cole but it's a bit of a waste of his talent and I'd like to see Cole in the centre really to give him the options players of that nature thrive off. So whatever the formation I believe we are lacking two important things. A right sided mf who can play as a right sided forward and a holding midfielder. Sure we are lacking the other striker we need and that's not debatable but Jovanovic and Torres at least give us options. In holding midfield there isn't one and on the right there isn't one even close to good enough. A solid LB who can support play is obvious
