  1. Don't know if anyone has started a thread on this - apologies if I missed it in the search. But those Cheeky bastards are having a laugh. AC Milan want Alberto Aquilani for €3m after perhaps purposely missing transfer activation - Sport Witness the bit how they've manipulated his games is just snide! For those that can't open the link. "There's bare faced cheek and then there's AC Milan trying to sign Alberto Aquilani for €3m. The Italian midfielder never really settled on Merseyside and was sent back to Serie A, initially on loan with Juventus and then to AC Milan. After a succesful start a deal was arranged between Liverpool and the Italian club which meant that as long as Aquilani made a certain number of appearances they would have to pay the Premier League team around €6m to sign the player permanently. The appearances were only counted as half if Aquilani was a substitute and he's come off the bench 16 times for AC Milan, as well as his starts. The target was just missed, meaning the Italian club didn't have to pay the fee agreed and could renegotiate. If you were cynical you'd get suspicious at this point. Earlier today the Liverpool Echo quoted his agent, Franco Zavagli, as saying "Alberto wants to stay in Milan, but he has two years left on his Liverpool contract and we’ll need to see what they think about it.” The agent also said that if it wasn't for injury then Aquilani would have made the 25 appearances he needed to in order to make the deal permanent. We're not so sure, he had to get to 25 and substitute appearances counted as 0.5. Aquilani made 18 starts for AC Milan and 13 substitute appearances, making 24.5. What was that we said about being cynical? This afternoon the Italian press, including Calciomercato, are saying that AC Milan want the midfielder - but not at the price agreed. They want to pay around €3m."
