First and foremost the season is over. Let us get that out of the way. Beat Everton twice and finished above them. Got to a European semi final. Great defensive record (third best in league) Give or take the same goal difference as the upstarts that are trying to replace us. They will try to push on whilst we will consolidate and be stronger because of it. Problems with the team have become very obvious. Area to strengthen = attack and creativity. Now we know we can fix it. Johnson, Lucas, Aquilani, Insua. None perfect but all showing real promise. Pepe and Jefecito signed long term contracts. Rafa's true respect for the club shining through. He does try to do things the Liverpool way. Not his fault that people leak news. He is determined to do right by us or is just playing a great game and has me hook line and sinker. Youth is now getting its chance to stand up and be counted, Spearing, Darby, Kelly (all more or less local) plus Pacheco, Ayala and most of all Insua. Most perversely of all the fact our season has been poor will drive down the price Cancer and Aids can request when some rich benefactor comes knocking. I would hate for them to benefit from our great club. As a consequence though our transfer fund is shrinking we are being more aggresive/ambitious when it comes to recruiting British youth players: Shelvey, Sterling and Wilson speak volumes and the season is not really over yet. Let us be honest for one second those that have let us down this season are few and far between. No1 Cancer and Aids but I honestly knew they would from the moment they signed. I just hate Americans and trust them as far as the fattest most sweaty and useless one could jump. Then Gerrard has let us down week in out out. Not once has he put a truly inspiring performance this season. He has traipsed about the pitch with a face like a smacked arse. If he thinks his dream of winning the title with his club is over he has to pick things up and make it happen like he has so often done in the past. Torres for me is next. When he has been on the pitch he has delivered to the highest standard but he just has not been on the pitch often enough. Everytime he disappeared with Spain he came back injured or what not. He cannot be blamed for injury but a by product is our performances slipping and the bloody media being able to perpetuate the rumour that we are a two man club. Truly I think we were a three man club as Alonso was a big part of our self. Rafa has also let us down this season but he also has an excuse and that is that he has to work within the parameters set by Cancer and Aids and they just keep getting smaller and harder to work within. So Hansen let me tell you I believe it is harder to go from 2nd to 7th than it is to go from 7th to 2nd. Spurs and City can negotiate and buy their way to greatness but one thing is guaranteed and that is they will not achieve it. They yo yo between the depths of nearly gone and nearly there whilst our yo yo is far shorter and brighter. Yo yoing between success and bulding for success. They have momentum and failure as a history whilst we have history and actual recent success plus a valid excuse. Roll on August 2010.
