Daniel Agger is no closer to signing a new Liverpool contract, despite the recent commitment of Rafa Benitez.
Benitez penned a new five-year deal last week, and then instantly vowed to sort out the futures of ‘key players’ like Agger and Dirk Kuyt.
However, Agger remains disgruntled at playing second fiddle to Martin Skrtel for the majority of the season and, with the likes of Milan interested, he is yet to express where his long-term future lies.
Undoubtedly a classy player, the Dane told a Danish news agency that Benitez’s future will have no influence on his own.
"Congratulations to him. He has done well. But I will not sign with Benitez but with the club. That is something that I have to keep in mind," Agger told Ritzau, who then asked the defender if it was a good thing that Benitez had signed a new deal.
"I don't want to get involved in that discussion. But he was the one that brought me to the club," Agger added.
