Not sure about Centre Mid to be honest, but agree on Centre Back. I think our striking options are fine - quite excited about the options from Firmino, Sturridge, Solanke, Origi, Salah and even Brewster! 

No disrespect to any of their fans but fans of teams like Bolton and Hull don't know what it takes to make it at Liverpool. Giving a 6 out of 10 performance every week for Hull is fine for Hull, but it won't be fine here. 

 

Mane is an exception. He was the best player and game changer for a top 6 finishing club. Robertson is an anonymous middling player for a terrible relegated team.

He's 23! Same age that VVD was when he moved to Celtic. 

What about Trippier then? What about Baines? Kante, Mahrez, etc. The league is full of them - to the point that it would be ridiculous to write a player off that you have not seen enough of. 

It is the certainty that is annoying. Based on bias and ignorance - seems to equate to certainty. Lets look on experience and our fan base were adamant we would finish mid-table last year, and adamant that Mane was shit!

I'd argue with that track record the only ones who have a record of being wrong are Liverpool fans! 

See now I was OK with the idea of signing a shit left back as long as we got top quality elsewhere.

I know a few Hull fans here where I work, who say he was excellent for them - good pace, strong tackle and good in the air. Think they should have gotten closer to £15m for him. 

But as it isn't top trumps. I'm going to watch him and make my own mind up. On the basis that I am not a scout (doesn't make them infallible), and I haven't watched hours of him play.

Mine is - you don't know enough about Robertson to make an informed decision. You are basing yours on his club, his fee, how many other clubs were in for him, you haven't mentioned anything about his playing style, strengths, weaknesses etc. 

And the league is full of players who came to it without any reputation, and without any other clubs after  them, all from average clubs. 

I was the same with Mane. Lallana is hit and miss for me (with too much miss).

Lallana does have a bit of 'almost' about him, but he impressed me last year. Still rather see Couinho in that role though - particularly at home 

I've seen him a couple of times and he was bang average. Let's see how he looks for us though.

People moan we buy from Southampton, and don't find players ourselves - and those same fans seem to moan when we do buy players like that. Give the lad a chance. He's fast, not a short arse, and doesn't get injured - he looked good against England, and looked good when I have watched him. I'd like to see him a bit more and at our level. 

I can ever remember watching him play sonhave nonidea if he'll be good enough as a back up, let alone starter.

 

But effectively swapping Kev Stewart and pennies for him, rather than identifying LB as a weak spot in the first team and addressing it, has FSG's grubby fucking fingers all over it.

We could always let him sign for Southampton and buy him for £30m in a year or two, then get criticised for not identifying him earlier! 

People need to wind their necks in a little with here. The premier league is awash with 'stars' who nobody had heard of prior to their arrival. Everybody is judging the club he come from, and the fee - and guessing about the player.

Lucas covered two positions and was needed 25 times last season to do so - neither of which positions we have strengthened in.

 

Robertson is a straight swap for Bert Moron as 2nd choice LB.

 

OK Salah adds proven quality to our attack but that is it - overall as it stands i'd say we are worse off.

We are not worse off! 

Salah is a great signing, and Robertson also frees up Milner to add to the midfield! So Lucas is covered in the middle, 

So we are worrying about cover at centre-back - Lovren may remain first choice, but I can see cover being brought in. 

We can be as positive as we want - but let's face it.

He's back to being a fucking midget! 

We really could enter this season looking to compete on an extra front with an even thinner squad than last season couldn't we.
