  1. Part of the reason he´ll go is because he knows he isn´t going to be challenging for major honours here, and part of the reason that is the case is because we have owners that don´t spend, relative to the rest of the big clubs, much money on transfers or wages.

I don´t begrudge any of our best players leaving. There comes a point for them where the ceiling dictated by our transfer policy means they have to leave to better their career.

There is a reason for that - and it isn't FSG's fault. And quite frankly it is not something we should be doing! We simply could not sustain spending the same as United, City and Chelsea year in year out - and the more teams spending that, the less effect your spending has.

We need to spend big on our first team - and we are looking to do that. I'd normally say take £100m and let Coutinho go, but our record of buying shit, i say no.

You all have a fair point. But it isn't as plain and black and white as people are suggesting.

  2. Anyone see that programme on Channel 4 on super yachts? Biggest collection of cunts outside of Old Trafford - one boat £137m, 10k just to start the engine up! Another twat - getting one designed asked for a helipad - the designers asked if he had one and he said 'no, but everyone has one'! Irony being the one he was designing was too big for St. Tropez and most of the marinas!

Anyway - said it on another thread. If you seriously think this is all down to what FSG want to do, I think you are being really harsh. If Barcelona come calling for Coutinho - chances are that he wants to go! This isn't Sterling and City, it is a 25 year old - who can get the chance to play for the biggest team in the world.

  3. Yeah but goalposts keep being moved here. The overall point most people are making is the overall strategy has been a balls under their stewardship.

You're spot on in that its not their fault if Klopp or Edwards or someone else fucks up.

But the buck stops with them when it comes to the overall picture.

It stops with them so far as Ayre was still negotiating after fucking up numerous bids - fuck Gerrards slip, had we got Salah in January that year we would have won the fucking league!

I do get that. I get distrust of them. What I don't get is laying every single failure at their door - two teams in every negotiation and sometimes you don't get what you want!

I do not want us to become City. I don't want a billionaire owner - I don't to be part of a pissing contest between a load of billionaires. So i am not really objective over this!

  4. And also - Barcelona bidding for our player!

Isn't necessarily about FSG, Klopp, the Echo, James Pearce, Sheep, whomever wanting to sell - it is Barcelona! If they plant £75m on the table (being cunts) it would be hard for Coutinho to turn them down - what we think at this stage is irrelevant!

I think we will still get VVD - and i think we'll spend more than £100m, sales would make it less net, but so what? Nothing wrong with being prudent - as long as the squad is improved which I am confident it will be.

  5. people are talking about the actual bid and subsequent negotiation which to be fair seemed to happen quick. Its the same with Lacazette to Arsenal. Rumours for ages but the bids and negotiating were done quite quick by all accounts.

I do agree deals will take time in general though. I just think the evidence isn't on our side when it comes to proving its always the case.

To be fair - we are in Liverpool, we wouldn't see the day to day rumours. There was lots of Arsenal rumours on Lacazette, as there has been about Lemar whom they haven't signed yet!

Maybe if Klopp didn't send a video to VVD we could have put a bid in - but as it was, we had to backtrack pretty quickly. Bit silly to put a bid in for a player whom you've just pulled out of signing! None of which was FSG's fault.

  6. I love "The King Is Dead"  Peter Bucks guitar and Gillian Welchs backing vocals add so much. Some really beautiful lines too, January Hymn - "On a winter Sunday I go, to clear away the snow and green the ground below".

Yep - some brilliant tunes on there. Bit of a punt truth be told a few years ago but it worked out!

  7. Fair do's i understand what you're saying about his age. But the issue with his age is he needs lots of game time to grow as a player and without it he'll regress. Young players will make mistakes and we'll have to go through that teething phase of dealing with those mistakes like we did under Rodgers when our policy was youth orientated.

More and more you see the Top 6 moving away from this policy because it's not conducive to winning. Why mollycoddle a young player when you can go out and sign someone that's more experienced and doesn't make the mistakes?

Alonso went away and learnt his craft at Fiorentina and Alonso could be out on his arse at Chelsea by the end of next season as well. The future is unwritten on that score.

Personally i think he'd be better off going to a team like West Ham or Newcastle and continuing his development. If he does establish himself as an important player by the age of 26 then he can get a move to a bigger club. I just think the move is too soon for the lad.

Aye - and I think we all do understand, it could go tits up. But as I said earlier - my problem (actually it is a concern) is that - criticism of him is actually criticism of FSG and their policy. I'm getting a bit pissed at the arguments - particularly at away grounds where it can be quite toxic sometimes and the themes are the same.

We need a centre-half, Lovren is not good enough as first choice. I just can't see us not adding to our defence - it is inconceivable.

But Salah is a diamond and I think Solanke will offer us something as well, not to forget TAA, Woodburn and possibly Kent who look like they can all step up.

If's and but's I agree. But at the moment my glass is certainly half-full!

  8. I remember when Ian Rush returning was reported in the late Echo!

Prior to twitter how many of us where told the goblin that is Martin O'Neil was taking over from Houllier? Twitter is just one big pub, full of pub bores.

The President of the US of fucking A, consistently contradicts himself! With little or no reference of his previous opinions.

Keita isn't coming. And his agent needs to fuck off persuading us to offer a bit more each time!

  9. Not aware anyone is really sticking the knife into Robertson so why people feel the need to write a big long defence of the lad before he has even kicked a ball is beyond me, Of course we all wish him well and want him to succeed but its quite legitimate to question why we are so far failing to attract established quality players ( Salah excepted before someone states the obvious). The LB position has been a problem for us for years and its far from certain Robertson will prove the answer.  It's fair to say more than likely he won't be but we will find out . Given the frailties of our back 5 we will not be successful next season ,even if Robertson turns out to be world class ,if we don't get better players in soon. People are fractious about that, and our general ineptitude at doing business ,not the pro's and cons of signing a full back from the Championship. Big picture

You haven't spotted the posts here and on his own thread stating how shit he is?

I think it is not just about him, it is another go at FSG via transfers - so, the fact he is from Hull and 'shit' is yet more evidence of how shit FSG is. Fuck giving him a fair shot - it is another opportunity to have a dig at FSG.

Sorry but, I think that is a contradictory post - no matter how good he is won't affect the defence? Then don't criticise his signing then (eeyore, mascherano, strontium dog, to name but a few are quite strong with their criticism). You're conveniently ignoring the criticism of hiim which some of us find a bit out of order. The big picture is only available in august.

  10. Was watching The Chase the other day and one of the questions was:

"Koptalk is a website for supporters of which football club?"

    Was the answer Everton?

Cos I reckon that is the right answer!

  11. If all Robertson does here is a back up to Milner, preferred by the manager to the untrusted Moreno, then fair enough. Klopp doesn't rate Moreno and he sees something in Robertson he prefers. It will likely be Moreno out and Robertson in for cost neutral, and in the manager's eyes we will be strengthened. Potentially Robertson could surprise a few and claim the shirt himself. If he doesn't, then you'd have to think we will be back in for another left back at a future date, as Milner winds down. In the meantime the manager upgrades his back up.

It's not the sort of move to get too animated about one way or the other.

    Good luck to Robertson.

Exactly - Moreno didn't play last year at all! A £15m player couldn't be trusted against Swansea, Palace, Burnley, Southampton at home - at the very least he needs to be good enough to play against those teams as Milner has proved he is good enough against the top teams.

  12. Comparing a player that's played two seasons in the Premier League, relegated on both occasions, never once won a man of the match award or put in a memorable performance at this level to two PFA players of the year is ridiculous.

I hope the lad succeeds, i really do, but to deny he's arriving at a lesser footing than the others is delusional. He's been brought in as a second choice left back and chances are we'll be looking to upgrade next summer. He might surprise everyone, but he's shown the square root of fuck all so far and he'll be doing it at a much higher level.

He was 20 when he signed. So the comparisons are equally vapid if that is your point!

Where were any of the players mentioned above when they were 20?

Where were they when they were 23?

Just because you haven't spotted anything (managed to get into the Scottish team, and a premiership team at the age of 22). As I say, the league is full of players who have become established from a less than stellar beginning. He deserves a chance not criticism based on nothing.

As I said - those criticising him the most hardly have an unblemished record of prediction - doesn't seem to stop them stating their opinions as established fact.

You know how this goes mate - his critics are going to be looking for evidence they were right all along. Any good points will be ignored. And if they are wrong - he still won't be as good as (INSERT NAME).

Alonso failed at Bolton & Sunderland!

  13. It is a chelsea team with Alonso (failed at Sunderland and Boton), Moses (failed at too many to mention), Cahill & Luiz - 80% of their defence.

How would this forum react if we had of bought one of those this past year?

Yes, this is another dig at the Robertson critics.

  14. Dudek was a great keeper before turning to shit.

At his best he was a million miles better than Mignolet and no fucking way was his poorest form any worse than that clown.

Disagree mate. Good in his first season then he went shite - his last few years compared to Mignolets are not the same.

Put it this way - Mignolet stepped up last season, Dudek never he went backwards.

  15. You must be watching him in training because he's performed much worse than that rather average list of past keepers when it's mattered.

    No chance mate!

David James cost us the league and Cup Winners Cup in 97' - some of his error's were not only horrendous but in big games as well. He was terrible - same with Dudek. Mignolet isn't the best - and not a patch on Reina (whose final season was piss poor I think).

But those three are considerably worse. The only reason Kirkland and Carson are not included is that they were young.

  16. So no first choice keepers then?

Doni was a far better keeper too.

This wasn't first choice. It was worst.

And Mignolet is better than David James, Westervelt, and Dudek - by some fucking distance I might add.

  17. I dont count Brad Jones as a Liverpool keeper. He isnt good enough for Bradford let alone us.

Under normal circumstances he would have warmed the bench whilst our number one played. Migs has been such a joke he managed to get dropped for him and another lower league keeper in Bogdan.

Mignolet is easily the worst first choice keeper ive seen at the club. Laughable that he's still here. Make no mistake about it, we'll continue to concede too many with him in goal, just like every season he's been at the club.

    Absolute nonsense!

Itantje, Jones, Hooper, Peggy, Bogdan, Doni, Luzi, Padelli, that brazilian - all far, far worse than Mignolet.

    Absolute nonsense of a post!

Unless of course you've only seen Mignolet!
