American Presidents seldom deliver on their campaign promises, so we have that going for us. Moreover it's not really clear what Donald Trump believes in - as he does contradict himself quite a bit and often avoids substantive policy positions - as well as whether he can be bothered spending the next 4 years fighting for it, doing a job that is incredibly restrictive.

 

This is clearly not a good result - the effect on the environmental consensus alone is hugely damaging - but it may not turn out as bad as we justifiably fear.
