One thing you always notice when we play squad players is how there's no coherent system or shape. When you watch Arsenal and the mancs, even in the Carling Cup when they play their youth sides, everyone passes the same, makes the same runs, keeps the same shape as their senior side counterparts. Both clubs have a distinct playing style that's drilled into them at every level - we just don't have that, and that's a very long standing issue.

Bang on, I though we were looking to do that with the new youth set up. We've actually got it the wrong way around the first team needs to play more like the under 18's.

Problem here to me seems to be consistency. Benitez was rightly sacked for playing poor football and 'losing' some of the players, it seemed like a good number of them had lost faith in him so the club backed that view and got rid.

I know we're only a few games into the season but Roy has been here for a good few months and the players don't look like want to play for him either. Going to form the club should be looking to give him a deadline to sort it out, get the senior players properly on board or beat it.

This may be difficult for him as from what I'm seeing I think the players know what jobs he wants them to do but they neither understand why or enjoy what they are being asked to do.
