  1. Disappointing responses, some of them.

I mentioned letting Gerrard go for 20+ (ideally abroad). When we got a player of Suarez' quality for a similar fee, the suggestion has merit. Luis is likely to contribute more in the next 5 years: either on the pitch or through a huge profit.

  2. Contentious this one but, time to play less of an important role in the team?

It's probably a bit knee jerk with Carra to be fair.

With Gerrard, I've thought he's been on the wane for a while, the team seems to play more poorly with him- always looking to him for a miracle. Perhaps that's a throwback to the Benitez era and can be coached out or entirely dissipated through the arrival of so many new players. Either way, I'd certainly take any money 20m+.

As I say, contentious, but no room for sentimentality.

  3. It will be one hell of a battle, I could see Arsenal and Spurs losing momentum this year. Arsenal in particular seem in decline at the mOment and Spurs aren't good enough to seriously worry about!

If it wasn't for Villas Boas, I'd be thinking a run for the title under Kenny...

  4. I'd free transfer Aurelio tomorrow. Utterly, utterly useless.

It's sad because when he plays, he's quality and I agree he's useless if he's not playing- depending on his pay, I'd keep him for 50% ish of games at 70 mins whilst blooding players like Jack Robinson (kind of like Spurs do with King).

It's a shame! Kelly, Agger, Carra and Fabio would be a great back 4 and at the moment, none are available!

Perhaps that shows our strength in depth, something we're often criticised for, in that our defence got battered yesterday with injuries and still worked well as a unit.

  5. I expect Newcastle fans said the same about Kevin Keegan when he came back the second time.

Newcastle fans were over the moon, it really was the return of the messiah. Media and pundits deemed it a masterstroke and there was even talk of a top 4 finish if Kev got some decent results early on. The night he came back, they played 2nd tier Stoke in FAC replay and tonked them 4-1. Kev only appeared for a few minutes in an upstairs box and there was absolute fervour! But for Mike Ashley's silly tactics and Kev's heart on his sleeve nature, it would've been a match made in heaven.

  6. Still don't want Kenny as manager.

It's not enough, I hate the idea of FSG or whoever one day having to sack him, or think about replacing him, or annoying him, or a player mouthing off about him, or Ferguson getting weird with him.

Fuck that, I want Kenny forever cased in that stuff that Han Solo was cased in.

The managerial game is shite these days, Sky can get fucked, so can the BBC, I'd much prefer Kenny was apart from all that bollocks, running shit from behind the scenes.

Kenny's greatness will forever be, regardless of what happens now. Reading between the lines, you'd rather he protected his reputation, shied away from media and Liverpool FC suffered as a result?

  7. After one season in a relatively weak league, he 'deserves' a shot at a top job? Going in as an assistant would be of great help to many inexperienced managers.

He brought Academica back from the dead to mid-table obscurity. His record with Porto has been phenomenal. And now he should be an assistant? Why? Porto's already a big club and nobody moaned when Mourinho moved to Chelsea (admittedly not as big as Liverpool but they were CL semi-finalists and destined for success).

  8. Kenny's assistant? That's a bit insulting to the man! He deserves a crack at a top job and shouldn't settle for less.

I hope Kenny gets the job and keeps it for as long as he feels he wants it and can do it. Kenny will know when to leave. If, when Kenny leaves, Villas-Boas is available, I'd go all guns blazing for him but until then, I don't even want to hear about it. Kenny's working miracles up there. I was too young to understand what a great man Kenny was when he was there and I understand now.

  9. He's an Allardyce. He's great at getting mediocre players to perform above their level through hard work, training and set tactics, which suits the lower clubs where expectations and finances aren't paramount. He falls down when it comes to the more advanced aspects of the game, because he's an old school manager, who's too set in his ways to move on. And he looks like an owl.

This. And I love owls. And moose.

  10. Roy's a much better manager than he showed in his time with us. He had time to ride the wave after the takeover and didn't. He had a lot of time to galvanise the squad after Mascherano's departure and didn't. He constantly played us down and tried to make us Fulham! Because he's a smaller club mentality manager. Nothing wrong with that- but not right for us.

Still, he's capable of putting out a team that'll stifle us, maybe even nick a win if we play like we did at Upton Park. He'll never put out a team that'll outpost us in a game of football. And Kenny's more than capable of putting Albion to the sword today. And I fully expect him too! LLTK!

  11. Do I need to explain that the likes of John Terry is a gobshite? Surely not?

Also, just listen to the fans. Booing their side for having the temerity to draw at half time in games. The massive xenophobic approach towards Capello is also quite high in gobshitery.

It just sounds pretty sweeping. There's moronic Liverpool fans, moronic Scotland fans, the Millwall fans are morons- you'll get it anywhere. John Terry, for his flaws, is one hell of a leader and a very good defender- especially given his limited pace.

  12. whats your point, liverpool are not the mancs or the chavs,if i was a glory hunter i wouldnt be supporting liverpool would i?

Instead of 'Why Liverpool?', Why not Liverpool? There's a reason so many people in their 20s and 30s support Lpool and people in their teens and 2"s support Man Utd. There's a reason many people in here that live in Liverpool support Liverpool and not Everton or at a push, Tranmere.

  13. your nation will not get a major boost if you beat wales, trust me.

No, not a major boost- frankly, Wales aren't that important. Still, it makes people a little happier, gives us something else to talk about and feel good about. Whilst I'm on this, I was listening to Talksport the other day when a presenter (I forget which) said Capello's got no skills, leadership, managerial or tactical. Seriously? He's been about as a manager 20+ years and enjoyed success just about everywhere. Why must we make a clown out of the man for god's sake?!

  14. Depends on where you live. More apathy for the national side in the country as a whole than I think you account for.

I think you're right and it's quite sad really. I find myself a little apathetic at times, the negativity irritates me and makes me feel disillusioned. Still, enough people do care and one of them's typing this (ME!).

  15. fuck it n any how were talking about back country lower league glory hunting supporters here.

why argue the toss when it has nothing to do with liverpool or liverpool fans.

I'm arguing the toss because I think you're wrong and either you know it, in which case you're a mong or don't know it in which case you're a mongetto. The thread title's clear: you knew this had little to do with LFC and entered anyway!
