  1. Look at it this way folks...

Carroll stays here, is a bit part player and he goes in January or next summer for an even more depreciated fee (less than the £20m we were trying for), or he goes to West Ham where they play to his strengths and he plays well scoring a few goals. His valuation is likely to rise and we could be faced with a couple of serious bidders over the next year with £20m highly likely.

It could be a decent move even though initially it seems a bit crazy to let him go (I'm assuming we could call him back if we really needed someone anyway).

But that's what was said about Aquilani & Cole!

  2. Barca still cannot cope with direct play, especially with Piquenbaeur who's averse to getting dirty (worried more about his hairstlye) and Mascherano the midget who cannot deal with high balls. They need to redefine how they play!

  3. And isnt it ironic that when BR was stating that should Agger leave it would be only for the right price, and he went on to compare him to Thiago Silva, another one of Europes leading centre backs - a player who was forced to leave Milan, despite his desire to stay there, but was sold coz they wanted to balance the books!!!! The irony.............

  4. Guardiola is that architect of his own downfall. He antagonised Ibra, mostly because of personality than ability. Before that he had disposed of Eto although he may have had a couple of more seasons in him. Villa just before being injured was already unsettled by the same Guardiola. If Guardiola had a striker of Drogba's mould the tie would have been over in the first leg. Barca's lack of a finisher is glaring for all to see. This philosophy of anyone on the pitch can score can work, but if you get 11 men, behind the ball, then that intricate one-two passing becomes obsolete. Sometimes you need to battery ram your opponents. Against Madrid they were already found out. Sanchez cannot lead the frontline. A triad strike force, especially of Ceunca/Tello-Sanchez-Messi is also a liability as essentially all you need to do is mark the runs of the players into the box. They really need to reassess their strategy or else every opponent that goes against them will employ the same strategy.

  5. Really ? You don't think nagging on and on about the how important the academy was, buying and selling players like Alonso,Reina,Torres,Agger,Skrtel,Aquilani,Insua,Lucas,Crouch etc and wanting to buy players like Jovetic,Alves,Vidic would fit the profile of what they are trying to do ?

A manager like Rafa would be excactly what they would be looking for. They won't appoint him now,or probably never, but that's not because he does not fit their profile.

That Rafa had one hand tied behind his back such that he couldn't manipulate transfers as he would wish is public knowledge, which some chose to ignore!!
