  1. LOL! So you think arse will offer a lower bid once they get to talk to him?

I think you'll find the opposite will happen. If they agree wages with suarez (which let's face it, reports suggest they already have hence the bid), the club still holds the cards and say, if you want him, 50m, 55m or do one.

Under EU law, I dont think any contract of employment can stipulate he cant move \ work in one country ie UK but can go to Europe. That as I understand is a restriction on the free movement of trade \ employment.

Yet again.... You spectacularly miss the point.

There is absolutely nothing to stop them withdrawing the bid of 40 +1 and offering 35 - when he has already talked to them. So you reckon he will need permission to talk again??? Transfer requests usually bring the bid down.

As far as the Contract situation. There are ways around this. Some players have clauses to say that a certain bid must be accepted from a top 4 club etc. You cant get more restrictive than that

  2. Rooney put in a transfer request - he stayed.

Coloccini put in a transfer request - he stayed.

Benteke put in a transfer request - then signed an extension.

Modric wanted to go - he was told to stay one more year.

We need to stay strong and show a backbone. If Suarez wants to go, then he needs to find a club abroad, like Real, who can match ourfee then he can go. Otherwise, he has to stay. Certainly not be allowed to strength Arsenal, our rivals for top four.

Rooney - just wanted a pay rise, he got it - I doubt we will be putting a new contract under Suarez's nose anytime soon.

Coloccini - Don't think he wanted to leave for the same reasons and I think he got injured in the middle of it all.

Benteke - I'm sure they gave him a whopping payrise.

Modric - Yes was told to stay - I reckon that also happened with Suarez last year

  3. The club still hold the power we don't have to accept a bid or his transfer request.

Technically you are right, but realistically I cant see it, it would require some sort of backbone.

I expect he will put a transfer request in very soon

  4. He would be stupid if he suggested it but surely it's more likely the player wanted a release clause and Ayre/The club has potentially talked them down into this watered down version. If that is the case then it is a masterstroke because the club holds all the cards as Suarez can do all the talking he wants and they don't have to sell until they reach a price they want.

I was worried when I seen it confirmed he can speak to Arsenal as this may mean he can hand in a transfer request and then we do have to accept the bid. If this is the case then surely Henry, if it was him, would not have so publicly laughed off their bid.

When you think about it, it all comes across as very strange. Why would someone have this clause in just to talk to another club unless they could actually do something about it.

I can't believe people are having a go at the club here though. At the moment they have done fuck all wrong. This is all Suarez.

This is the problem though. Once he agrees his wages with Arsenal, the club don't hold all of the cards as Arsenal will tell him to put a transfer request in, not to worry about losing his bonuses as they will add it onto his wages. At that point, they will try to force the price down.

And if we have a watered down clause, then why didn't we water it down further and specify that it was only for clubs abroad??

  5. It doesn't often work like that, ultimately he can put in a transfer request and behave like a real sod, which I wouldn't rule out. He could wipe millions off his value hence the reason why clubs usually offload unless the buying club offers shite e.g. often Real Madrid.

I can see him going to Arsenal for £45 million made up of something like £40 million plus extras.

I agree his will end up at Arsenal as players usually get their move. I'd rather sell him cheaper abroad though but it wont happen.

LFC grow a pair of balls

  6. Hahahahah

And here he is again, blaming the club

Fuckin hell mate, seriously, what world are you living in?

Saurez is acting the cunt and trying to force this sale through, what the fuck can the club do?

Why keep him? Did you see his face today? Why lose millions by keeping him until next year?

What the fucking fuck can the club do?

The club an hold him to his contract he signed last year. Its not as if he is in his final year and we have flog him to anyone

  7. Rodgers now saying that the fans have "treated him like a Son " and that "the support will be in his mind whatever happens"

I totally agree with the first bit,but what is this. "whatever happens " bit? Surely we should be telling him to honour the contract with the payrise he only signed last year

  8. Firstly, I'm not an apologist. If they do something I think is wrong, I'm more than happy to slam them for it. As for mentioning Mkhitaryan, we've signed plenty of high-price players already, so using a signing we didn't make isn't necessary. I used it because it's an indicator that we've still got money to spend.

Then there's this 'bottom line' thing. Do you know how much money FSG have earned since taking over the club?

We may have spent some more money if we bought the Armenia fella - but would that then mean that someone else would have to leave?

We have seen how they want players on the bench to be cheaper, never mind whether they are good enough to step in if they have to.

No idea how much they have earned, but I suspect that they not to bothered about earning anything now, just as long as there is a massive profit when they come to sell

  9. It's really funny how the apologists mention we tried to sign Mkhitaryan as some badge of honour ( Everton are we? )

We didn't sign him and if we had, it may have seen us having to sell someone else.

One minute we get Mignolet here to provide competition, now we have " we can't justify Reina's wages to sit on the bench" more proof, if needed that it is all about the bottom line

  10. The original poster wouldnt find it. Someone else did. In full as I requested. I dont think he lied when he said what he did. Like I said, he was probably caught up in the moment. If you dont like it, fine.

Where are you going to find new owners?

You talk like you'd won the euro millions and was going to buy this mansion, this fast car, this yatch etc, etc. You havent won the euromillions and talk is cheap.

I dont see any credible buyer for LFC on the horizon yet you want rid of the current ones. What sort of strategy is that?

I agree fans should be told honestly. Equally some people wont like that. Its clear you wouldnt like FSG coming out and saying we cant compete with the top clubs in England or Europe.

So only someone who's already bought or been involved with a football club should buy us or, no new people should buy into football clubs? That's some weird fucking logic.

And I think you'll find henry at least owned the club when it won its last trophy in 2012, the first since 2006. Remember?

I don't think we will ever agree on this, I can however respect your point of view. Talk is cheap, you are right - for FSG also.

I didn't say that only people who know football should buy us. When did I say that? What I will say that if you don't know the sport you are buying into ( I wouldn't have a clue what to do with a baseball team) then you research the sport and league you are buying into and/or surround yourselves with people who do ( we have Ayre)

  11. Thanks for producing the whole article in context. It wasnt hard was it?

Clearly he was wrong and being swept along in the moment.

Even when it is in black and white you still won't have it and will find a way to apologise for them. You asked for the proof it was said, now you have it.

You mention that fans don't want the brutal truth, well it is better than being told lies.

Yes. FSG saved us from going under, but they didn't do so for our benefit, it was done cos they saw an opportunity to get into the biggest global sport there is. They had no love for LFC. Henry regaled us about reading up on the club so he knew the history and ethos. We exist to win trophies???

  12. What exactly is it you want/expect them to do? Arsenal's record transfer is £15m, we've spent equal or in excess of that 5 times (would have been 6 if we'd landed Mkhitaryan) since FSG have been here, including the (at the time) 8th most expensive transfer in the sport's history. We've offered lucrative new contracts to our best players and the only wage trimming we've done is in shifting those whose performances weren't justifying the massive amounts of money we were paying them.

Everton also finished above us. Arsenal have won fuck all for years and celebrate finishing 4th. What's your point?

  13. You're clearly not grasping this are you?

To buy and pay the wages of 2, 3, 4 or more 'stellar' players, you need a mega rich owner like mansour, comerade abramovich or some other Qataari. Without that, you aint going to be able to afford more than one.

In other words, we wouldnt have been able to afford a FT and Luis suarez, etc if we were buying them for the fees we got \ want for them. There's no magic wand to bring in a mega rich Qataari owner.

And even if there was, I dont like the idea that Liverpool FC would become their personal play thing. No doubt some people would.

Of course I grasp it - its just a shit argument unless you want to accept mediocracy.

FSG are smart business men and should have known what pool they were swimming in - if you cant compete - then don't buy a team like Liverpool who have an expectation. Buy a team like Norwich etc if you want to buy low and sell high.

Also, don't tell everyone that you can compete - whether one off or not and tell everyone you are here to win - when by your admission, we have no chance of doing so.

You have to compliment stellar players with stellar players -If you only have one at a time, don't be surprised as to where we are.

As far as personal playthings are concerned, I take your point as the foundations are often built on sand ( Malaga ) but we already have the foundations, just FSG cant/wont build on it.

I really don't know how much money that have access to, but i'm sure they should be able to grow LFC on the pitch as well as off it

  14. All things being equal, yes. But when some clubs are using financial doping? Since when did manchester city have the resources to buy robinho for £32m not to mention the half billion pounds the owner has pumped into the club? Since when did PSG have the resources to spend £50m on a player?

Do I need to go on? The owners of those clubs are seriously rich and anyone who thinks Liverpool FC can match that spending power is living in la-la land.

Part of the reason they bought the club was the result of a direct plea from one of their associates to save the club from bankruptcy.

Now Im not fool enough to think that's the only reason they bought the club but in any event, what was the alternative? Some of you people talk glibly about administration and bankruptcy, others dont realise how close the club was to it. Oh another buyer would have bought us you all say yet there was no other credible buyer who competed with FSG.

You misunderstood my post completely. I said we could possibly compete for one stellar player. That's my point, one, maybe. More than one ie transfer fee and wages, no.

And this is the problem. We buy 1 stellar player, one only, cos we can't compete for any others. The players does well ( as he is a stellar player) but because he is the only one we have, we finish 7th and we have to sell him cos

    A) we can only afford to have 1

    B) he wants play at a higher level

    C) we are a team continually in transition

  15. Because they didn't know what they were getting into.

Given the choice again, I'm pretty sure they would have walked away.

They only saw the money they could make and have now shit themselves as they are now realising that it takes money to make money in this game and this club has expectations. - although some would have you believe that all is fine

  16. A very, very naive outlook. The fact of the matter is, fee wise and wages wise we may be able to compete for a single stellar signing, always presuming we can offer that player CL football (to say we can still do that when not in the CL is dubious).

But, to say we can compete for mutliple stellar players transfer fee and wages with the two manchester clubs or two london clubs never mind the mega monied clubs in Europe is not just beyond reasonable, its dillusional.

I like it when people lose sight of reality and come out with mocking stuff about 'we cant compete so dont even try.' How pathetic an argument is that? It ignores what people cant or wont admit to themselves in that there's a limit to what we can do without an equal call on monetary resources.

But if they are, as you say a "sports group" they will want their teams to be at the top of the tree?

Why buy the club if you know you can't compete?

You say we can compete for one stellar player, it is not enough. Which stellar player will come if he is surrounded by players of less ability?

The player will move on quickly as we cannot match his ambition. This has happened before, is happening now and will happen again

  17. They have bought the club to make money. As anybody who is not money laundering or stashing assets away from a regime who may try to claw it back will do.

Once that bit sinks in Marko, the rest is easy.

Some we never see it though. Owners are in it for the money

  18. Im not under any illusion nor fooled.

The football landscape has changed such that its unlikely we'd compete on the level of the two manchester clubs let alone arse and chelshit not to mention psg, bayern and other clubs backed by mega rich owners unless some mega rich person bought the club.

That's fine then. We can't compete so don't even try. Lets just sell them our better players and accept mediocracy ?

If they haven't bought the club to compete, then why have they? To make some money perhaps?

  19. Unless you been going since 1962 you can fuck off with that hot dinners and milkman shite. Been a STH since 1985 and pay on the gate most games before that.

We are from the same era then. Neither of us will ever see the glory days again under FSG.

Surprised that someone so long in the tooth can be fooled so easily
