  1. I have lived in Bangkok for 2 years now and love the place. It is different when you live here. A tourist only sees the back packer or seedy side depending on your style. There is so much to this city. I love the fact that I can get away for a weekend to lovely tranquil areas or crazy spots depending on my mood also.

I only spent a short time in London and New York and loved them. I could see myself living in either. Also loved San Diego and San Fran while I was there.

also a bangkok resident and would agree but not one of the better cities i've visited

    Good

St petersburg, Stockholm, Gibraltar, Riga, Talin, Hangzhou

    Not so good

    Kuala Lumpar, Coventry, Birmingham

Not sure (so bad they are good)

    Manila, Pattaya

  2. i'd recommend it

in my 3rd country now been here for 11 years, actually lived here for 3 years before that as well.

its a big world and well worth seeing, i know sounds a cliche but true.

i'd choose somewhere with opportunity as well as a ready made job; thats important

also a large city is easier to keep yourself amused

defo pick a place people would want to visit as it will remove any homesickness you may feel

started on an island in the baltic

    then phuket

    tokyo

    bangkok

except for the island all had opportunity and plenty of visitors

  3. food of the gods

    nice indonesian rendang

indian palak paneer, or a good sag, not too hot these days as the baltis are behind me an dprefer them veggie now

    for thai: all abit different

a nice gaeng karee gai, which is a yellow, chicken and coconut milk based which is thicker than most

penang is also a good munch as well

careful with the gaeng karee as karee also means whore and that can get you in trouble in bangers

  4. long weekend here in bangkok; 3 not 4 days.

have a work dinner appointment friday so wont be able to get snotted.

family time saturday and then off out to watch the footy. started watching the thai premier leauge this season so despite it being 40 degrees and sweating like a rapist, its been good to see some live games.

sunday will be out for the liverpool game and monday sleeping off the hangover

bit of work here and there and the jobs a good un

  5. agree on erikson stuff but it can get a bit like Jordan's stuff

most of the moorcock eternal champion stuff

but particularly von bek, elric, hawkmoon and corum

not pure fantasy but saga of the exiles by Julian May is excellent; crosses over with sci fi a bit

if you like that the CS Friedmen stuff (darkfire?) trilogy is abit differnt too
