He's a manager trying to handle a big squad, he's never going to please everybody.

The players are contracted by us and do as they're told until we say otherwise, in the same way they can run their contract down and try and manoeuvre their way out of the club for a better deal.

I think Crouch has been treated like shit, no way does he deserve to be behind Voronin like he has at times. He always scores too... I hated us signing and now I am hating him leaving us.

Exactly. Which he'll do very well. He's almost a perfect signing for our current system, actually. He provides it with natural balance and is even versatile enough to provide cover for one of our other problem positions. What's more, he passes the ball well, works hard, has leadership qualities, is dangerous from set pieces and is better going forward than many give him credit for. I really hope we get him.

There is no gain for us to 'unsettle' Villa. But the fact that the news broke in Liverpool's local newspaper has clearly annoyed him.

 

As I said, we have got annoyed plenty of times with these kind of rumours about Gerrard before a big game so O'Neill has a point.

There's a difference between being annoyed at the media for picking up on a story, including his local paper, and publically lambasting us for it.

He's an emotional idiot, and it probably hasn't hit him yet that all his ranting will just unsettle the team even more.

The story in the Echo was different from the Birmigham one, which included Crouch as part of the deal, so you have to ask who is leaking what to who?

O'Neill is spot on with what he has said. They have two massive games coming up and they are still trying to qualify for europe next year. The last thing they would need is a distraction for their captain who has been central in their progress this year.

Not necessarily. Those players would have been sold anyway, so it makes sense to offer them to Villa in exchange, especially as Carson is already there and MON was sniffing round Riise not too long ago.

I ceratainly hope he will be a left-back at Liverpool, I don´t rate him as a midfielder. Barry and Aurelio however, should solve the left-back problem.
