FOOTBALLER Cristiano Ronaldo is being lined up to star in a multi-million dollar remake of the epic TV series Roots.
Ronaldo has demanded £3.5m per episode.
Producers say the star's treatment at the hands of Manchester United make him the perfect choice to portray the young African slave who is beaten by his brutal masters.
The Portuguese winger said he had been traumatised by 'outrageous' demands that he honour the £125,000 a week, legally-binding contract, which has brought him only, misery, adulation and Gemma Atkinson.
Speaking from the titanium gazebo in the rose garden of his 31-room mansion, Ronaldo said: "I feel I can relate to the suffering of African slaves.
"If anything, it is worse, because footballers cannot sing while we work, whereas they had time to develop gospel music during their 16-hours shifts before dropping dead from exhaustion."
In the series a young African boy is dragged from his homeland and shipped to America where he is forced to work in the fields by a cruel and violent plantation owner.
"The similarities are uncanny, though admittedly, the Lear Jet that flew me from Lisbon to Manchester wasn't packed with 150 other players sleeping head-to-toe."
Ronaldo also conceded that, while the slave-master in Roots administered brutal beatings, Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson had nurtured his talent, lavished him with praise and turned him into one of the best divers, playactors and general pricks the world has ever seen.
"But without the freedom to do whatever I want, wherever I want, for whatever fee I want, I am exactly the same as a cotton picker forced to live in a shed, dying at the age of 32."
He added: "I know the people will love my acting. Already, in the streets, I hear many of them calling me 'Kunta'."

you cant get it in ireland unless you have a uk registered sky card which are difficult to come by but apparently dubs can get ch 5 with a good aerial pointed in the right direction so i'd go with that, or else wait til fri at 8 and the match will be repeated on the lfc channel

No. They never.
if your're being sarcastic, piss off:thumbup: but an american was being interviewed on newstalk here in ireland and they were goin on bout pc in the states, he had a few other examples but that stuck with me as being way way way over the top.
-
another eg of pc craziness was in usa a few days ago when a counciller was referring to a space/science journal entry and when he said the phrase 'black-hole' 3 council members
said he was being racist by using that phrase, fuckin whole worlds gone nuts.

fair enough, still think we shoul have em back, i'll have to get on to SOS to add that to the list of supporters demands!!

They got rid of the red nets (and the black ones, remember them?) because it is better for TV to have the white nets because it defines the goal and makes it more clear.
Fuck the fans who pay £36 to go the game, mr sky tv viewer can't make out if that was a goal or not
the chavs have blue ones or had upto a short while back and arse too had red ones i think
-
Completely off topic and just to kill some time but i was watching some old match on the lfc channel and noticed the old red nets, they were brilliant and i cant see why they had to change them when they did, i think we should bring them back, that is all!!

sinn fein are very xenophobic and if it was upto them we'd be out of europe living in the dark ages like the ahmish in the states. Theres alot of confusion over the thing as noone can understand it which is why it'll be close. I know we get to vote on it but, since we're a small nation who prob has more say than a country our size could ask for, i'm afraid on how our relations with the rest of europe will be like if we vote no as we've benefitted alot from our involvement.

while escaping from a bank he just robbed, the masked gunman was tackled by a customer who removed his mask so the thief shot him then shouted "did anyone else see my face". He looked around and spotted a man peering at him from behind a desk so he ran over and shot him too. He then asked "anyone else see me" to which a solitary reply came from the back "I think my wife caught a glimpse"
-
as usual the govt here left it til the last minute to promote the yes vote and gave the no campaign a head start and if you add that to the fact that not even the so called experts who drafted the thing can understand it thus alot of people will either not vote or reject it, its going to be very very close with my guess being a yes by a small amount say 52-48.

its 1 of 2 very strong intertwined ligaments connecting you thigh bone to your shin bone, the acl is at the front hence the name anterior and the posterior or pcl is at the back(obviously). I have partially torn acl's in both knees but i can still run and play ball so it depends how torn it is, also brian o'driscoll has a partially torn acl and he has no problems.
