  1. Bottom line for me was that if Barca had come calling, Pepe would have dropped us like a hot stone.

Hasn't this always been the case ever since we signed him. He's a barca fan. How many of or players wouldn't drop us like a hot stone if barca came in for them.

  2. Pellegrini would have been a massive risk, probably greater than Rodgers, but for different reasons.

Van Gaal was interested in the DOF role and would have been an excellent appointment. Sadly, high calibre individuals are not FSG's style.

Pelligrini was less of a risk than Rodgers, cos he was actually proven at the top levels.

Youre completely wrong on Van Gaal.

  3. I have no idea how its affected me in any way apart from me not being able to become a police and me being able to escape 12 months military service because they would not let me shoot in case I hurt my other eye and they would not risk that.

I cant watch 3D movies either but apart from that I'm fine as far as I know.

IS it the reason you have no clue about football??

  4. All this goes in his favour, certainly, but he's coming into one of the most high pressure jobs in football. Can he handle it? We've got no idea, because he's never done anything remotely approaching it.

I logged on to twatter a little while ago to see how the journos are reacting and spotted this:

Jacqui Oatley @JacquiOatley Brendan Rodgers recently told me he couldn't get an interview for League 1 jobs a couple of years ago. Now he's new Liverpool manager! #LFC

That sums up the scale of the gamble.

Also, I see a lot of people pointing to Swansea as a mark of how good he is. How about Reading, where the players failed to adapt to his methods?

Its a massive gamble. And i pray it pays off cos we cant really afford to slip any further behind.

  5. An emphatic no I think. Basically a couple of wins at the back end of a horrendous season has given him a shout at getting the job.

Hes the very definition of "flavour of the month". That last few weeks of the season is what is getting him this job. There is no way he would be considered had he lost a couple of those games in that time and been relegated.

  6. ...and you know who you are.

Sack Rafa, they cried. Anybody could do better. Wrong.

Give it to Hodgson, they cried. He might surprise some people. Wrong.

Be careful - we could become Newcastle, sacking managers in quick succession and not going anywhere. It will form a dangerous precedent, he cried. CORRECT!

I warned you this would happen. I predicted it all. I told you. I told you that if you sack Rafael Benitez on the back of one bad season it will happen again...and again...until the day comes when we're just another club.

    Welcome to that day.

    Welcome to mediocrity.

I was right, you were all wrong. You know who you are and you're probably a cunt.

    Kiss my arse.

There was a lot of people who said we would go backwards if rafa was sacked. Just not on this forum. Could see all this happening back then.

  7. Anyone who thinks Javier didn't play for West Ham because of concern over his ability is deluded.

We agreed to take him off their hands and it was a month before he was selected! There was clearly a concern over the paperwork and the spectre of 3rd party ownership.

As for Tevez, West Ham won 7 of their last 10 matches (with him) and still only stayed up by beating the Mancs on the final day. I suspect that they were presumed dead and buried by March so they took the risk and thought the FA would only fine them anyway.

Which is of course what happened. So-rreeee, Colin......

As for Aquilani, it's tiresome now. The same old argument for the same old reasons.

He's not that good. He's not that fit. He's not that arsed about playing for us. Three reasons why he shouldn't be here and will go when all concerned parties agree.

Actually, three reasons why he never should have come here in the first place.

They didnt play Masch cos the didnt rate him and didnt sign him. They didnt even know they were breaking any rules. Tevez was in from the start with no worry of breaking rules.

  8. We're not making excuses. What you're not grasping is these people are irrational morons so any provocation will be seized upon, magnified and returned in kind.

What you see as 'just cupping his hands to his ears' they see as defiance so escalate previous actions.

He needs to concentrate on managing the team and not get involved in the rest of it although now it's probably too late.

It was a daft thing to do. He knew it would provoke a reaction but he still did it anyway. I dont want to sound like im justifying what happened to him, but he really is a tit who doesnt help himself.

  9. Mcmanaman did not want to leave us and the only reason he did,was we had thought a deal had been struck with Barca for him.

The deal with Barca was done behind Mcmanamans back,it backfired on the club big time, when we realised he was used as a smokescreen by Barca who wanted and got Rivaldo.

Mcmanaman was wel pissed off with the club over it and thats why he left.

Still cant believe any of that mcmanaman stuff. If he wanted to stay he would have. If he wanted to stay he would have signed a new contract and we wouldnt have had to try and sell him.

Mascherano was a disgrace last night. He, Alonso and Arbeloa have all become rather snidey after leaving us.
