  1. They're one of those teams that are just hard to break down, they'll do very little in terms of hurting us going forward, but if they nick a goal, we will struggle. Hopefully you're right about the news being a lift, Especially to Stevie,
  2. I know what you're saying, but do you really think that he will always be valued this low? I just don't see this as a good deal, seen as we could end up with a decent player on our hands, and we're swapping him for an old player who's done well being the central focus of a mid table team? Henderson frustrates more than the next guy, but I just don't see the positives of this deal
  3. Does nobody else just love him already?
  4. Jesus Christ, I know many on here don't rate the lad, but surely this would just be fucking stupid on our point. In theory giving fulham £16m for a player that they want £10 million for?
  5. Sinclair(know he's more or less cities) < walcott < sturridge. However I think both sturridge and walcott are both players that are fairly inconsistent, sturridge being the more consistent of the two, but I think that when both are at their very best, Walcott is the better player, and very few defences can deal with him.
  6. Shame we couldn't put his name on the score board, but it's understandable considering how little room there is on the thing- would probably have gone ahead if we had a big screen, but - rest in peace young red, gone too young, and thoughts go out to his family. YNWA
  7. After what he's shown last season, and the earlier parts of this season, you have to say it is worth trying something different. We spent £20 million on him which was always too much, but we did think we'd got a lot more for our money than we have, so I see no harm in trying it out in a league cup game. People may argue that it will stunt robinsons growth, but I think that if downing is used as a wing back it would be in more of a three four three rather than a four three three, which means that we can gain more of an attacking threat from full back when chasing the game, and Robinson can still be used as back up to Enrique when needed
  8. 3 million? If so I'm glad we've signed someone for cheap! But in terms of football, the low fee will not bring any expectation from the press/fans etc, which will hopefully give him time to settle in the country. Never seen him play he looks like a tricky winger, which is something we've not had since, well, Erm, I can't remember the last decent one!
  9. surely the arrogant man has contradicted himself here? surely he knows about his dream?
  10. Thanks for everything craig, will never forget the golf clubs, or the carling cup semi's at anfield. Always found the contrast between his aggression and anger on field and his calm and collected words off the field quite astounding! Good luck bellers
  11. :wow: Bit unfair on the lad? I seem to remember him stating that he's wanted to stay here numerous times after being linked with big moves elsewhere.
  12. really don't understand why people are getting on downings back because he scored, I'm sure he would've got less abuse if he'd hadnt have scored, and we would've come home with both a poor performance, and result. he actually played with a bit more confidence after his goal, and did alright with his choice of pass/ off the ball runs. don't get me wrong i don't think this will turn him into the £20 million signing, but frigging 'ell get off the lads back
  13. Think he could deffo do a job for us this season, I think he deserves atleast a few games in the cup, in which I predict he will impress and maybe begin to make a few appearances in the league, against weaker opposition. I'm excited to see what he's got to give/ whether performing on the bigger stage affects him, but the two halves he's played preseason will have done him no harm in the eyes of the new manager. I think he's probably a bit light weight for games like Stoke, Sunderland, and West Ham, but i think he could be a key player against teams we failed to finish off at home (Norwich, Swansea, etc.) he could do be a strong squad player, and save £5 million (maybe more depending on how much we want a like for like replacement) in bringing in a maxi replacement. I think the fact he offers more energy, and width than joe cole must put him higher up brendans list, but I think both will probably be used equally as squad players. Another thing I though he could bring to the team was that he could improve hendersons game; I know the lads showed a real lack of confidence, but he's showed that he has got the skills to be a good pass and move player, and playing alongside people such as Dani, who like to play in the same style could make him more important to the tempo of the team (that's going on potential rather than form)
