  1. van Persie joins United for 24 million pounds when he has only 1 year left on his contract. Michael Owen joined Real Madrid for 8 million plus a dodgy makeweight when he was down to 1 year left. How....what.....why?????????
  2. There are loads of them and all depends on the criteria but my vote goes to Phil Babb. Bought for a record fee for a centre back of 3.6M pounds after having a very good World Cup 94. Not a measly amount of cash in 1994. Can anyone recall him having a good game? (A really GOOD game I mean, not just not as crap as usual). This guy was useless. Had no clue about marking or positioning and on top of that he thought he was Beckenbauer. He would go charging upfield and always get the ball taken off him and the opposition forward would either score or Babb would go chasing back and chop him down for a penalty. That's how I recall him.
  3. Agreed! Heskey angered me so much. Baros was better than him. Houllier loved Heskey though.
  4. Last season we drew at home to Norwich, Swansea, Villa, lost to Wigan, West Brom and Fulham, scraped by QPR 1-0 and that's just our home form! Not mentioning our many shit performances and silly defeats. I was 13 in 1991 when Keny quit and he was my first Liverpool boss and we were a great team. I idolized him as much as anyone but this time round his results weren't up to it. When he was brought back as manager I was so happy. It felt like rewinding the clock 20 years but unfortunately he couldn't get the team performing. If it was any other manager then he would have gone so why should Kenny be kept on? Right now I think Martinez would do a nice job. He would get us playing a good passing game. When Shankly came in 1959 he wasn't a very young manager and had been around a good few clubs without pulling up any trees. He was given a chance and a few quid and took us to success. It can happen.
  5. What did Dalglish win as a manager in 1985? What did Shankly win as a manager before coming to Liverpool? What did Pep Guardiola win as a manager before going to Barca? Answer - nothing.
  6. I also agree Randy. I love Kenny but I can't honestly see next season being much better with him in charge. If he was to leave now people can say he won a cup and he can go with a bit of dignity. He bought crap in the summer and other players there already have gone backwards. It's not the players who set transfer fees but however you work it out we had Carroll 35m and Suarez 22m against Swansea City and drew another blank. Graham who cost Swansea 3.5m got the winner against us. It's not a one off either. Bellamy was fantastic until January when he hasn't scored or been much good since. It's a carbon copy of his first season for us a few years ago.
  7. That Kevin Lisbie hat-trick was very poor seeing as how crap he really was. As for Ndlovu, in his day he wasn't crap, he was pretty good.
  8. Right now I would swap him for Vorm the Swansea keeper without any doubt. Swansea picked him up for 1.5M pounds from Utecht which goes to show there are good keepers out there. Reina has to buck his ideas up no doubt about it. That said of course he hasn't become a shit keeper but he is way below the top keepers right now. We are not talking about the odd poor goal he lets in but he has let in a pile of poor goals that a top top keeper ought to be ashamed to concede.
  9. The way he was beaten v Cardiff was pretty standard for him, wasn't a lot different than yesterday just it went between his legs. The second goal he let in v Cardiff was bad too. He does seem to be too flat footed these days. Sometimes when a shot goes right at him he saves it but if it goes either side of him then he's not saving them. Penalties are a goal also.
  10. No doubt he deserves another season and my memory is long. I recall how many times Pepe has saved our arses. I don't want him to be sold off BUT I am saying that if he wanted to go then I wouldn't be upset about it. He hasn't been playing at the level he was at before.
  11. Well what can you say? Pepe has been crap this season and again he fucked up. The first goal today wasn't good by him. That kind of goal has happened a lot of times where he doesn't make any kind of save but goes down slumped on one knee and the ball flies past him. If he made a choice every time to fling himself right or left then sure some would go past him but the law of averages say he would save a few. If he would have saved that first goal I honestly would have been surprised. Our last line of defence isn't the goalie he used to be anymore folks. There was another shot in the 2nd half which went wide but you watch the slow motion relplay and see 1. how late Reina dived and 2. what a crappy half hearted dive it was. If that ball had been on target then it would not have been saved. Maybe he has become complacent who knows but if he was to go this summer then I would not be crying over it.
  12. Seriously, ask yourself which managers would swap Pepe for their keepers. I bet any money that Wenger wouldn't swap his guy for Pepe, Fergie wouldn't swap his 2 keepers for Pepe, Pardew wouldn't swap Krul for Pepe, Mancini wouldn't want Pepe over Hart, I don't think any of the so called giants of the game would want him either. He looks like a keeper in decline. I hope he can get it back. I don't know that he is fat but he certainly seems to have lost a lot of agility. If he wants to leave then I think he is doing a terrible job. He is not looking his best.
  13. No one is judging him purely on penalty saving but it's alarming that firstly he used to be a top top penalty saving expert, the best in Spain and secondly you see other goalies make penalty saves quite often, the Arsenal guy has saved a few and he's only been around a season, Hart saves a good few a season, in fact they all save some penalties except our man!
  14. I never saw Clemence so I have seen Grobbelaar, Hooper, James, Westerveld, Dudek, Kirkland and Carson play in goal for us and I think Reina the best of them all..... However recently he seems to give no confidence. A great keeper just radiates confidence and calm assurance and Reina had it in spades but now he doesn't. He saves some good shots still, sure but many other ones fly past him. I don't think he can be exempt from criticism. He hasn't been on his game in a while. On corners now we are hopeless and don't worry about blaming defenders, the guy in charge of them is the keeper. He reminds me of James at his clownish best these days. You swing a cross in and he is nowhere. He didn't cover himself in glory on QPR's last goal in my opinion. He was hung out to dry by the defence but still, he didn't do anything then. He didn't spread himself ala Schmeichel or anything. I have never seen a keeper better than Schmeichel at one on ones. He was immense. I'm sorry to say that Pepe right now is not doing his best. Not long ago I was scared that Reina would leave us but at this moment in time I wouldn't be too arsed if he did go. I think his stock is slowly diminishing too. I don't think if he did go that he would have the biggest clubs in football after him like he would have 3 years ago either. To me he is just not the keeper he was.
  15. In the mid 90's me and the family were in Ibiza airport I think and I saw this familiar looking bloke about 30 yards away, it was only Big Nev. I said to my Dad it's Nev Southall over there and he was like oh wow. Don't see footballers at airports all that often. We never talked to him or nothing though.
