  1. A CL finale in the Middle East will probably have to wait until the nuclear fall out has deteriorated
  2. Our tactics against a low block were limiting. We needed width so playing Joe inverted was unhelpful and Connor spent a lot of time as an inside forward as well. When Robbo came on and played more conventionally we started to get more joy. But they were knackered at that point. The goal scorer (the bloke who headed it anyway) and crosser both went down with cramp immediately after their goal and their race was run until they got something to hang on to.
  3. VAR can’t intervene on corners but (surely) would have ruled out dunk’s header if it had gone in
  4. Is 343 very different to 433 with an inverted full back?
  5. A case can be made for any result but a draw puts two points into the table rather than the three if someone wins. So a draw for me but a Citeh win knocks the Arse confidence and I think they drop away. An Arse win puts us 4 points clear of Citeh (as long as we're done our business) which is not to be sniffed at.
  6. Xabi may have his eye on Madrid job in 12 months. In the meantime, the stats driven approach of Edwards and Hughes may point to Amorim anyway. If Xabi got wind of not being a shoe in he may back off and hope his reputation improves before the next Liverpool opportunity.
  7. Sounds like a dereliction of duty to me
  8. The Bayern and Madrid jobs come up every couple of years. The same isn’t generally true of Liverpool. Come to us and he’ll have a job for as long he wants it (assuming things go reasonably well) after which time the other options will pop up again. Go to B or M and your out of work 2 - 3 seasons later and Liverpool job is tied up for years.
  9. Klopp is a project manager who builds from the ground floor. Exactly what we needed when he was appointed. Ancelotti is a finisher who takes a good team and moves to the next level. Just what we need now.
  10. The cash (if it’s still held) would be an asset. The debt is a liability. As the cash is spent the asset diminishes: the liability remains until the loan is repaid.
  11. You don’t think they might employ this strategy to destabilise their title rivals? I think this is exactly what they do. Wasn’t many years ago they announced the signing of hummels from Dortmund before the season had ended.
  12. Refereeing decisions never used to create so much derision and so much cryarsing. The guy in the middle would make a decision, get abused by one if not both sets of fans and everyone moved on. Now, with expectations so much higher, the ref, the VAR team and the guy in charge get abused for weeks after the incident. ive never been a fan of VAR and think it should be scrapped but this thread is becoming embarrassing with us trying to find a way to believe we’re being deliberately cheated and the world is against us. Every team has similar experiences; get over it.
  13. My lad said to me at HT, it feels like Brighton. Result turned out that way although that was due to our negligence. Very frustrating but may be best in the long run (I’m telling myself that anyway)
  14. We coined the chant “we’re the greatest team in Europe and we’re going to wem- be-lee” in 1978 when, as European champions, we defended our title there. If citeh get through to the final this year they will be able to mirror our achievement and have a genuine right to sing our song (unlike everyone else).
