1. Zico was ace, one of the greatest players of all time! The things he could do with a football defies belief, and he could score goals of all kinds (except with his head, I guess!). Shame he suffered so many injuries, and never played in a World Cup-winning Brazil side, though the '82 team was an absolute joy to watch of course. The collection of free-kicks at the end of the video is sublime. I don't think even Maradona scored that many beauties.
2. NESVs David Chivers, after the Texas injunction: "The owners, from beyond the grave, are seeking to exercise with their dead hand a continuing grip on this company. This is simply not acceptable".
3. His name is Lucas He plays for Liverpool He'll steal the ball from you Yes i think you've seen him before If you feel someone at your heels Some kind of trouble, some kind of beast Just don't ask me what it was Just don't ask me what it was It was Lucas, don't you know
4. According to Sky Sports he's been tracked by Macia for 5 years, which doesn't sound too promising, though even a broken watch is right every now and then. Sky Sports | Football News | Premier League | Liverpool | Reds make Remy move Skysports.com can confirm Liverpool have made a move to sign French striker Loic Remy from under the noses of West Ham and Tottenham. New Reds boss Roy Hodgson has entered the race for the Nice ace and is hoping to beat his Premier League rivals to the forward's signature. Remy is regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe after impressing at Nice over the last few seasons. The 23-year-old, who has been likened to Thierry Henry, scored 16 goals for Nice last season and has broken into the France national team. West Ham had been leading the chase for Remy after making a couple of sizeable offers for the striker, but they were unable to agree a fee with Nice. However, they could now lose out on Remy with Liverpool firming up their interest in the player with a bid. Liverpool's technical director Eduardo Macia is believed to have been tracking Remy for five years and he has recommended Hodgson make a move for the pacy hit-man. The Reds are in need of a new striker as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the Europa League deadline with Fernando Torres currently on the sidelines, leaving David Ngog as the only available forward for the start of the club's European campaign. Funds Liverpool's financial director Philip Nash is believed to have raised the funds to enable the club to make their move as they look to win the race for the in-demand Frenchman. Remy's agent, Frederic Guerra, has admitted he has spoken to Liverpool about a possible move and that Remy would be keen on a switch to Anfield. "Yes, Liverpool are interested in Loic and Loic is interested in Liverpool," Guerra told skysports.com. "There has also been interest from West Ham and Tottenham and it is now up to Nice. "Loic has always said he is keen to play in England and Liverpool are a massive club. "I believe if Loic comes to England he will be a massive success. "He is like Thierry Henry, but I believe if he comes to England he could be even better than Henry. "He is a sensational player, he is very strong, very quick and two-footed. He is the complete player and Liverpool would love him."
5. Guillem Balague has hinted in a couple of posts on his web site that there are conflicting reports: the club claims that Alonso handed in a written transfer request whereas Xabi and his representatives insist that he has only given verbal indication that he wants to leave. See for example this post.
6. Yeah, it pretty much evens itself out. Wouldn't say we've been particularly unlucky with decisions this season. Doesn't mean I didn't scream at the tv when United got that penalty against Spurs, though! Anyway, I think the "goal" against Stoke was actaully correctly disallowed. Didn't think so at the time, but watching the replays it turned out the ref was just about right.
7. Three from Newsnow: Carra backs Hull to cause a title upset Jamie Carragher: Hull can do Liverpool FC title favour Man Utd could still crack - Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez Though I'd agree gkmacca's are better...
8. Must have missed that. Still, someone must have forgotten to tell Rafa and Carra, though, by the look of today's headlines.
9. Sorry - posted twice. Please feel free to delete this one.
10. For the past couple of weeks Rafa and some of our players have given several interviews stating that United are feeling the pressure, will crack, will slip up etc. The intention, of course, is to generate anxiety in them so that they'll end up dropping points. I'm just not so sure this is a good tactic. In my opinion it just serves to motivate them and keep them on their toes. When United were well in front and everyone said the race is over, that's when they dropped points. I'm not saying we should give up, just that the talk about how it's not over be kept behind close walls. Just say publicly that it's going to be very difficult, but that we'll of course try to win every match. Leave it at that. That would work much better in my opinion. If it lulls them into a false sense of security, fine. If it doesn't, that means they're worrying, but then that worry is self-generated, not something that's being put on them by their hardest opponent and is easier to deal with. Fergie did the same thing a couple of seasons ago, when Chelsea were just in front in the run-in. He kept saying how Chelsea were under pressure and would slip up, but it just seemed to make them more determined not to drop a single point. Just keep it low-key, I say, that's confuse the hell out of them!
11. A couple of reports today hinting that Rafa leapt into the air after Yossi scored the winner yesterday. Anyone have footage/images of this? Would bloody love to see it. If true, strange also that it happened just after Baconface's dig that he finds it strange that Rafa never celebrates.
12. According to liverpoolfc.tv, Degen and Agger are our only injury worries. Hopefully that means both Alonso and Benny are fit.
13. The notion that Slur Alex is some kind of mindgame genius is ridiculous. It's based on the infamous KK incident, but who's to say that had any real impact on the run-in that year? No one bloody knows. Also, he was constantly going on a couple of seasons ago about how Chelsea lacked experience and would soon falter. It never happened. Perhaps his outbursts motivated the opponents? Again, we'll never know. But were there any headlines about how the mindgames might have backfired on Old Baconface? Were there fuck!
