BBC News - Death of homeless man found at Wirral recycling plant 'unexplained'

A man, whose body was found at a Wirral recycling plant, appears to have died in a "tragic accident", police said.

Officers were called to B & M Waste Services on Dock Road South, Bromborough on Wednesday after a body was found while emptying bins.

A post-mortem examination found the 50-year-old, of no fixed abode, died of trauma to the head consistent with crush injuries.

The site was cordoned off as officers investigated the death.

Merseyside Police said efforts were continuing to trace the man's next of kin and inform them of his death.

A scene at Cherry Tree Lane, Liscard was also cordoned off as part of the inquiry.

Det Ch Insp Dave McCaughrean said officers will be carrying out inquiries near the Cherry Tree Shopping Centre in Liscard to see if anyone was in the area of the bins on Tuesday night.

"At this stage it appears to be a tragic accident, but we are keeping an open mind in relation to the circumstances which may have led up to him being at, or near the bin area".

Cllr George Davies, from Wirral Borough Council said it was a tragic incident and he expressed his sympathies to the man's family.

Woman stalked by serial bicycle-seat wanker | The Copenhagen Post | The Danish News in English

Woman stalked by serial bicycle-seat wanker

Police hope that bringing the case to the media will cause the perpetrator to stop defiling the woman’s bicycle seat

A young woman has in five instances gotten off the train by Mørdrup Station in north Zealand only to find that a man has masturbated onto her bicycle seat.

The saddle-polishing perpetrator has so far only struck on Wednesdays and only when the woman in question leaves her bicycle at Mørdrup Station.

“At first I thought that it was some kind of sick joke, but when it happened for the third time I decided it was enough and reported it to the police. It’s bloody disgusting,” the 19-year-old woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Ekstra Bladet tabloid.

The woman said she didn't have a clue who was behind the unwanted bicycle lubrication but feared that children could witness the man ‘adjusting his helmet’ from a nearby playground.

North Zealand’s assistant police commissioner, Henrik Hattel, confirmed that he had received several reports from the woman, most recently on Thursday. He said it was a conscious decision to go public with the case.

“We’re hoping that this will get the freak to quit doing it. That’s the most important thing for us. It’s difficult to say how we should punish the man,” Hattel told Ekstra Bladet.

Although indecent exposure usually involves someone witnessing another person doing something sexual publicly, the police still believe that this case falls under the law concerning indecent exposure.

"Otherwise the woman wouldn’t have called us. Her decency has been violated on some kind of level,” Hattel said.

The police have not heard from anyone who has seen the man ‘applying his hand brake’ to the woman’s bicycle seat and they haven’t looked at the liquid to ascertain if indeed it was semen. They do not, however, question the validity of the woman’s report.

More news from the Netherlands.

Drunken hedgehog sleeps off hangover, makes full recovery Society June 2, 2015 A drunken hedgehog, found at the weekend unconscious in a pool of the popular Dutch drink advocaat, has made a full recovery, according to the animal shelter where it is being looked after. The hedgehog was found flat out on Sunday in Arnhem having gorged itself on a broken bottle of the egg, sugar and brandy-based drink. After sleeping off its excesses, the animal is now eating again, Toon Lesterade of Noach animal shelter in Halle told news agency ANP. ‘After all, if you’ve been drinking too much beer, you are not exactly hungry the next day,’ he said. The animal, thought to be about two years old, is now curling and uncurling again. If all goes well, the hedgehog will be released back into the wild at the end of the week. The shelter deals with between 200 and 300 injured hedgehogs a year, ANP reported. Most have been hit by a car or mower or become entangled with strawberry netting or fishing line.
