I've always said that the Mancs start each season with ten points more than us. After Ferguson retired that seemed to tail off for a bit but it's now fully restored with Mourinho in place to frighten the little darlings.

One thing I have never understood is the ruling on conflict of interest.

If Howard Webb would have been pictured in a Liverpool shirt when he was 7 or 8 he would have never been allowed to officiate LFC matches but he was a South Yorkshire policeman from 1993 to the present day while criminal / civil proceedings were being undertaken by LFC fans against his work colleagues and this is not considered a C o I.

More clueless bollocks on BT Sport. Am I missing something here or did we have every man and his dog shouting about the rule change regarding genuine attempts to get the ball when players are clean in on goal only being yellow cards?

The Jagielka tackle is a red because he goes studs up into the lads ankle and could break it. The divvy ref is saying that he gave the red because he denied a goalscoring opportunity. Jagielka got the ball so it must have been a genuine attempt to get it. The ref in studio then says that it meets all the criteria for denying a goalscoring opportunity yet not one cunt in there asks him if it’s a genuine attempt then is it not a red?

I might be wrong (as I’ve not read the rule book) but I think the genuine attempt not leading to a red applies to fouls in the box

The double jeopardy of having a man sent off and conceding a penalty was for this reason

But if there’s no attempt to play the ball and just foul the man then you can still see red and can concede a pen

Outside the area, slightly different rules

Or so I think???

Bobby Madley: Premier League referee quits

Referee Bobby Madley has quit as a Premier League official.

A statement from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) said Madley had "decided to relocate due to a change in his personal circumstances".

Madley, 32, was one of 18 full-time professional referees and took charge of 91 top-flight matches since 2013.

He refereed the 2017 Community Shield at Wembley and oversaw 19 Premier League games in 2017-18.

Madley was not involved during the first weekend of this Premier League season.
