  1. just because i'm paranoid, that doesn't mean that they're not out for world domination:- construction of the death star continues UEFA give Gill power to punish United's rivals... if they fall foul of financial fair play By Ian Ladyman PUBLISHED: 23:00, 17 June 2013 | UPDATED: 00:47, 18 June 2013 Former M********* U***** chief executive David Gill has been handed power by UEFA to recommend bans on clubs such as rivals M********* sChity and Chavski, who may find themselves in breach of new European Financial Fair Play rules. Having stepped down from his post at Old Toilet at the end of last season to become a UEFA executive member, Gill has now been appointed chairman of the governing body’s extremely influential Club Licensing Committee. The committee essentially decides which clubs are entitled to licences to play Champions League and Europa League football. This will become increasingly important as UEFA’s FFP rules shape the landscape of European football in the coming years. Influential: Chavski and M********* sChity could potentially suffer at the hands of David Gill Gill is a known advocate of FFP and one of four Barclays Premier League chiefs who proposed similar rules be implemented in English domestic football back in January. He said 18 months ago that the new European system would only work if ‘appropriate sanctions’ were imposed on those who missed the targets. Sanctions already discussed by UEFA president Michel Platini have included fines and, for severe offences, competition bans. Gill’s appointment will certainly raise eyebrows at clubs such as sChity and Chavski who are currently striving to ensure their losses are no greater than the 845million (£38m) limit allowed by FFP across last and next season. Long allegiance: Gill spent 10 years alongside Slur eckie Ferguscum at M********* U***** Money men: Sheikh Mansour and Roman Abramovich have funded much of M********* sChity's and Chavski's success Both clubs have been used to viewing Gill as a rival in recent years and it will not have escaped their attention that the 55-year-old is to remain a U***** director and board member, despite handing over the chief executive baton to Ed Woodward. On Monday night, a UEFA spokeswoman confirmed that Gill’s committee will have an influence over whether clubs’ finances entitle them to play in major European competition. This is despite that fact that the Club Financial Control Body will go through individual clubs’ finances initially to see if they meet the targets set by FFP. Gill will play no role in this part of the process.
  2. ...they're pretty shit, aren't they? C&A set the bar pretty fucking high so our owners and those of Villa, Arsenal and United have got some way to go before reaching those levels of shitness but all of them are unpopular with their clubs supporters. In fact I'd say we're probably the most supportive of our American owners but they're not covering themselves in glory by any means. Should yank businessmen stick to their own football and leave ours alone?
  3. Good to see the club taking a firm, zero tolerance, stand. Liverpool issue warning to Zenit fans amid racism fears | Mail Online
  4. Alex Ferguson backs David Gill to stamp out racism if elected to UEFA board | Mail Online It's from a couple of weeks ago, can't believe I missed it at the time. Um. If this happens then I'm jacking it all in. United and Ferguson having their tentacles in the FA is bad enough, in fact it's unbearable, but having them also degrading European competition is the final nail in the coffin. Here's Gill on Ferguson Manchester United CEO David Gill on working with Alex Ferguson, staying focused, and going East, Far East. And again, with added 'what the fuck' Gill grateful to Ferguson - Premier League News | TEAMtalk
  5. Is it a 35% sell on clause or is it 50%. Scored 13 in 18 in the Championship, could be a nice little earner for us if a PL side comes in for him or we could even sign him in a cut price deal. Would you have him back?
  6. Ian Ayre can't even sack someone properly. The Times have an excellent piece on the case this morning- unfortunately it is behind a paywall on the net. The Club originally talked tough, but settled before Ayre's incompetence was exposed in a Tribunal.
  7. Where is all this Suarez business going to end ? It's an interesting topic at the moment , with the diving accusations and extremely questionable refereeing decisions that go against him . I'm just wondering what is our fans opinions on a solution to the situation ? Do we keep going and putting up wit everything or do we decide to cut our losses and cash in ? I'm thinking our manager might be inclined to go with the latter , just for an easier life . I'd be disappointed if that happened but at the minute referees seem to take pleasure in going against us . Ultimately what is the best realistic outcome for the club ??
  8. Ian Ayre really is something special when he can make Rick Parry look competent. FSG have made enough balls ups in their time here, but continually promoting this fool is up there at the top. Why is this club always run by idiots? When will we ever get a proper structure in place? If anything good comes from last night's fiasco then let's hope it's a proper Football Administrator/CEO being imminent. We can't go on as we are.
  9. Brendan Rodgers has described Andy Carroll as a 'cover player' but says Liverpool are in no position to have a £35million signing as their third-choice striker. Carroll joined the Reds in a big-money deal from Newcastle 18 months ago but his future has been the subject of intense speculation since Rodgers took charge of the club over the summer after it became clear he did not fit into the manager's preferred playing style. However, the situation has become complicated as Liverpool want a good price for a player they spent so much on, while Carroll appears keen to stay at Anfield and fight for a place in the team. "You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see Andy's been a cover player... But, as a club, I'm not sure we are in a position to have £35million players as third-choice strikers. " Brendan Rodgers Rodgers has nothing but praise for the 23-year-old's attitude but believes players who are not part of his plans should be looking to move on in search of more regular football. "You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see Andy's been a cover player but he's been excellent in his attitude and acceptance of where he is at," Rodgers said. "But, as a club, I'm not sure we are in a position to have £35million players as third-choice strikers, or a winger on £5-6m a year. "There's still a wee bit of thinking time, and it's hard to walk away from here. The ones who want to play will probably look elsewhere, irrespective of finance, because that's their passion." Financial repair Liverpool have been connected with moves for a number of players but Rodgers admits he cannot bring in reinforcements while there are so many fringe men reluctant to leave. He explained: "The club financially needs repair. So to sign the players linked, unfortunately I don't have the ability to do that - not in this window anyway. Remote Record "This is an incredible club and some players, even if you want to move them on, won't walk out. "I can only ever be straight with players. "I've made it clear my group will be made up of starting players, cover players who can come in, and development players who can progress. "If you feature outside of that I will tell you and then it is up to the player what they want - do they want to play football?"
  10. Jesus, in all my time supporting Liverpool, I have never know anything like it. Every way we turn there seems to be someone not just willing to stick the boot in, but actually do it. We were the scapegoat for years over Hillsborough (and still are in a sizeable portion of the population), the Suarez affair, despite the non existence of any evidence to support that piece of shit's assertion, means everyone thinks as us the the racist club of England. Next up it was Swansea, making an issue over first the sigurdsson then allen transfers. Now, fucking Fulham want their turn having complained to the PL about our enquiry over dempsey and failure(!) to buy him. WTF!? So once you enquire about a player you have to follow through to the purchase do you, no matter how inflated or unrealistic the fee is? Fucking hell, I think I know how the Rangers fans may feel like now.
  11. we missed out on sigurdsson FSG talked up this whole new revolutionary management structure - and then caved, so it's Rodgers and Ayre Rodgers - who seems to be focusing on the miniscule pool of players who have worked with him before and Ayre who has no experience in transfer negotiations and boy is it showing ok so the sigurdsson miss is one thing, we didn't want to offer wages to compete with spurs (if we rate the lad why not?) I can understand one eff-up but now all the talk over the last week was tello and sahin on loan, tello and sahin, tello and sahin, liverpool hopeful of securing both deals..... and what happend - we more than likely miss both, so that is three big misses in one window for us, an amazing record considering we were so sure we were going to bag all three on top of all that we have failed to offload guys like cole, adam and carroll, on top of that we have had to pay many of the players we have offloaded to guy and received a sum total of 1 million in transfer fees for 5 players the world of football have us marked down as a laughing-stock when it comes to the transfer-market and for another transfer window we have proven them right our latest tactic seems to be to hang Dempsey out to dry in the hope of getting a few million off the fee if we even do go for him so it looks like it will be borini, allen, assaidi, dempsey and de vries look at those five names again, be honest with yourself, that is nowhere near good enough to make up the gap on the top four oh and question marks still surround Agger the Sahin transfer was a monumental moment in the ayre/rodgers/fsg axis and they failed and because they failed the club will suffer as long as fail to secure players like Sahin we will get nowhere, the players purchased are not good enough, I am tired of excuses - these guys aren't doing a good enough job for the club and a 3 million Moroccan winger from a midtable Dutch club ain't going to paper over the massive cracks
  12. Ian - champ or chump? So many threads about other fly by night peripheral figures but the guy in the control room - Ian Ayre is almost never mentioned. This is a local lad, a fella who has taken one from the spot in front of the Kop and has brought more revenue into the club than any other single individual but nobody ever speaks of him.
  13. And so Werner has come good and fixed us a promo vehicle for the US summer tour. It should be interesting: Liverpool FC are to allow a documentary crew to film the inner workings of the club as part of a new TV show that they say will be "a remarkable series for every football fan on earth". The club have partnered with the Fox Soccer channel in the USA and will begin collecting footage in May to coincide with the club's participation in the FA Cup final. Filming will continue during the club's North American tour in July and carry on for the first few games of the 2012-3 season. Liverpool say they will produce six episodes in total and the documentary will be called "Our Liverpool: Never Walk Alone". They hope it will reach over 100 million viewers. "This is going to be a truly remarkable series for every football fan on earth, watching the inner workings of one of the world's truly great clubs, and seeing things no one outside the inner sanctum has seen or experienced before," Fox Sports Media Group chairman and CEO David Hill said on the Liverpool website. "Liverpool FC is cherished by its community and hundreds of millions of fans worldwide. Working with a team so unique, and wrapped in so much history, is a natural fit for a project of this magnitude and uniqueness." Liverpool's chairman Tom Werner added: "I expect that it will be compelling programming as Liverpool will provide unprecedented access. This will be an amazing opportunity for our fans to see a new side of the club and for us to reach out to many more potential supporters around the world who will come to understand what makes Liverpool FC so special." Liverpool are likely to want to keep a close eye on the final edit of the show to try and avoid a repeat of what happened to Queens Park Rangers when they let a documentary crew film the workings of their club for the recently broadcast BBC film 'Four Year Plan'. The resulting programme was so chaotic that one reviewer said the film would "likely scare off any other clubs from letting cameras in again". 14. Ian cotton has been sacked after 16 years with the club. I assume this is to do with the suarez affair, but however, whatever, he's gone. It does raise a smile to me though that this was announced the say of the new kit launch, so Noone notices. A good day to bury bad news (about yourself). Good lick Ian, I suppose. Director of Communications to leave LFC - Liverpool FC
  15. Serious question - why was it booed yesterday? Don't know if it was our supporters or those cunts but someone booed it. Why?
  16. EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool FC accounts show £50m loss including £35m on Hicks & Gillett 'new Anfield' John Thompson, Head of SportMay 3 2012Comment (1) Recommend THE cost of clearing up the debt mess left by Tom Hicks and George Gillett at Liverpool FC is fully revealed in today’s Anfield accounts. New owners the Fenway Sports Group pumped in £200m to wipe away most of the club’s debt when they bought it. But £35m has since had to be set aside for the American dream that died. That was the massive amount spent on design fees, legal and administrative costs in regard to the futuristic - but ultimately futile - stadium plan commissioned by Hicks and Gillett from Dallas based architects HKS. And its costly failure is predominantly responsible for an overall annual loss in the accounts at Anfield of £49.4m before tax. The HKS glass and steel design plan or Stanley Park is now on the scrapheap - and the many millions it cost described by the club as ‘significant wasted money’ after being written off. Another stadium design plan - commissioned previously from Manchester based architects AFL - remains live as the Reds ponder whether to redevelop Anfield or build anew. In all, the costs of Anfield stadium planning have so far totalled £49.6m - £35m of it relating to the failed Dallas plan. The cost of that doomed stadium plan, masterminded by Hicks, is listed in today’s accounts as a major ‘exceptional item’. However, the stadium write off costs will not impact upon the club’s ability to comply with new European financial fair play regulations - as they are not included in UEFA break-even calculations. Another exceptional item in the figures - the cost of hiring and then parting company with new England boss Roy Hodgson and his backroom staff 18 months ago - is listed at £8.4m. That ‘termination payments’ figure also includes a settlement with former LFC Managing Director Christian Purslow, who played a key role with current MD Ian Ayre and Sir Martin Broughton in ousting Hicks and Gillett after a titanic courtroom struggle in October 2010. Purslow left the club soon after Boston Red Sox moguls John Henry and Tom Werner stepped in to rescue the Reds. Today, in an interview with the Echo, current MD Ian Ayre said the accounts represented a major cleaning up operation post Hicks and Gillett and said they meant the club was now in a solid and stable position He also stressed they reflected the major commitments made by Fenway Sports Group to consign Liverpool’s dark days to history and move the club forward into a new era under Henry and Werner. Said Anfield MD Ian Ayre: “They key message is that the new ownership has created stability, a long term opportunity for Liverpool and some good foundation work that hopefully we’ll all build upon. “It’s really about everyone being together and shown unity. We have seen in the past what happens when you don’t have everyone working together. “One of the key things of this ownership group is that they do want everyone to work together. “They are very open and collaborative about the way they go about their business. “They don’t create walls between people. “They don’t do that in their own business in the US. “Everybody has got a voice and gets a chance to say what they think. Everybody is involved and that’s the best way for it to be. “We have a great team of people here who just need to build on what we have started. Key highlights in the accounts published today show: Liverpool’s losses rose in the year in question - from £19.9m previously to £49.4m. Debt interest charges as a result of the FSG takeover have reduced from £18m to £3m annually £131m was spent in the period on new players including Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, and Charlie Adam. The net spend on players was £41m - as opposed to just under £17m the year previously. Wage costs went up by £10m during the year - reflecting an ageing squad and an issue since addressed, say the club, when ten players left Anfield during the summer (including Emiliano Insua, Christian Poulsen, Paul Konchesky, Philip Degen and Milan Jovanovic). A 25 per cent growth in commercial revenues - up from £62.1m to £77.4m Total club revenue in 2011 fell by just under a million pounds to £183.6m - reflecting the loss of Champions League football this season. Media revenues dropped from £79.6m to £65.3m - again reflecting the loss of Champions League football from TV sources Matchday revenues dropped £2m to £40.9m - again an impact of no Champions league games.

    Gerrard

OK he is training now, so let's have the debate we have had the last 10 years with him - where do we play him? I think with Adam doing so well in centre midfield, we don't need him in that position - as we have a play maker. With the team struggling to finish chances, I'd play him in a supporting striker role behind Suarez. Let him have freedom to roam and win us games. Where would you play him and why?
  18. Congratulations forum .. i carefully selected this place to be the first where i declare my great "BAD LUCK" theorem As all scientists, i will be attacked by some of the low-educated people here, but thats our fate here it comes: at the beggining of the season we said we are unlucky with the amount of chances we create while we get nothing from games, then as the season moved on we realized that it can't be "bad luck" it must be our poor finishing or other mistakes we were doing well here are some questions for those who say that: we hit the post 30+ times this season, is that all down to poor finishing? i mean i know the perfect finish is the one you put the farthest from the keeper. Hence, inner post then it goes in. Whats the difference between inner and outer post? 2 inches? is that what makes you a great or poor finisher? i cant believe that, we were extremely unlucky hitting the woodwork this seaon and most of the times they were sweet lovely strikes that desered to be goals but "luck" stopped it from going in why do keepers perform heroics against us? is it because we shower them with easy balls? no way. It is called heroics because they are saving balls that should go in. weeke in week out they do that against us and we do shower them weekly with extremely difficult balls to save, but they do save them with the help of our "bad luck" Why dont we get the "freakish" goals from time to time? and why do we always recieve them? i remember lampard once scored 10+ deflection goals? why doesn't that happen to us? again because we are not lucky enough why dont defenders do any mistakes against us? even shitty defenders? Therefore, i discovered that most of our bad results this season was purely down to bad luck. I really feel for the players, it is soul destroying to do almost everything right while you got nothing how do we deal with this? i dont know. the best solution i can think of is to wait for this freak of a season to finish i guess
  19. Anubis has requested I start this thread, hoping that the Blakburn thread full of negative moaning bollocks that I started may be a good omen for Saturday. So here goes. Shite. We're gonna get turned over big time here. Already shitting myself etc etc,. Discuss.
  20. What is the FF's view on it? Are some officials corrupt? Do they lie about who they support as suggested on Twitter? Do the FA request certain officials for certain team's matches? Or, are a lot of them just inept and unable to do their job? Are Dowd, Webb, Mason et al just the best of a very, very bad bunch?
