Really do make everything difficult. I today arranged to take a loan out to pay off my credit card and close the card account. It took 30 minutes which I can understand as it requires detailed information, credit history details etc so that didn't really bother me but after all the palaver and everything was confirmed she told me that I would have to go into a branch and sign some paperwork. It would've been ideal to mention this at the start of the process but hey-ho that's fine. My local branch however is not open on saturdays. In fact it is rather inconveniently open from 9:30 until 16:30 monday-friday when the majority of people are in work. "No bother" I think, I am popping into town anyway so I can go the big one there. "I'm sorry Mr Dangerously but you need an appointment" "Can I book one?" "No I'm afraid not, I can book you one for monday?" "But I'm in work" "How about on your lunch?" "My lunch is half an hour, how long will the appointment take?" "About 20 minutes" "Ok, can you book me one for Monday, around lunch time?" *placed on hold for 12 minutes* "I'm very sorry Mr Dangerously but I can't get through to the branch you need to speak to at the moment, you could always chance it and drop in?" "I thought you said I needed an appointment?" "Um, well yeah you do but sometimes they'll let you if they're not busy" "Right, so can I pop in today then?" "Erm yeah...yeah you could do that" "Right..." "Is there anything else I can help you with?" "*resist temptation to make sarcastic remark* No thank you" Bloody effort. Know it's not specifically the girls fault and know that internet banking is cheaper to run then actual branches but when you struggle to go and speak to someone face to face in the bank there's a problem somewhere. /rant thanks for listening.
