    Amoo, David

DAVID AMOO PROFILE by Dave Usher Date of Birth - 23/04/91 Nationality - English Position - Striker/Winger Games - 1 Goals - 0 Club Hons (Lpool) - Intnl Hons - Other Clubs - Millwall, MK Dons (loan), Hull City (loan), Bury (loan), Preston North End David joined Liverpool in the summer of 2007 from Millwall, and enjoyed an excellent first season at the club. Although naturally a striker when he arrived, he spent most of the campaign on the right wing, but still managed to regularly get himself on the scoresheet. He is now a full time winger and very rarely plays anywhere else. Blessed with blistering pace and an eye for goal, David is a constant threat and an exciting player to watch. He seems to be able to beat full backs at will, and consistently gets himself into threatening positions. He scores more than his fair share of goals for a wideman, and he is a good provider for others. There are still some rough edges that need smoothing out, and occasionally his final ball can let him down, but Amoo is a player with rich potential. The 2008-09 season was a good one for Amoo, as his goals played a big part in the u18s run to the FA Youth Cup Final, and he also forced his way into the reserve set up in the closing months of the campaign. He continued his progression the following season by becoming a regular in John McMahon's reserve side. 2010-11 saw Amoo given a chance with the first team, as new boss Roy Hodgson was forced to throw some younger players into the side for the Europa League qualifiers. David played against Rabotnicki and made an encouraging debut on the left wing. When all the senior players were available again, he found himself back down the pecking order and behind fellow youngster Nathan Eccleston, who was a regular on the first team subs bench in the early part of the campaign. Amoo joined MK Dons on loan, but it didn't go well and he returned to Liverpool before going out on loan again, this time to Hull City. He also enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bury in 2011-12 before joining Preston North End on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2012. 3. NATHAN ECCLESTON PROFILE by Dave Usher Date of Birth - 30/12/90 Nationality - English Position - Striker Squad Number - 39 Cost - Club Hons (Lpool) - None Intnl Hons - England u18 Other Clubs - Huddersfield Town (loan), Charlton (loan) Pacey striker from Manchester who made the breakthrough to the first team squad in the 2009/10 season. Nathan has impressed at every level since joining the reds and enjoyed an excellent 2006/07 season for the u16 side, scoring a lot of goals and turning in a string of impressive displays. He was included in the FA Youth Cup squad for the semi final at Newcastle, and appeared as a substitute in the 1st leg of the final against Manchester United at Anfield. It was the following season however when he really came to prominence, scoring goals for fun at u18 level, and making his debut for the reserves. He scored in that game too, from the penalty spot. His progress was hampered in 2008/09 as he found himself in the middle of a political battle between Rafa Benitez and the Academy. Reserve team boss Gary Ablett wanted to select Nathan, as well as the likes of Amoo and Kacaniklic, but was not allowed to pick players from the Academy and had to select only from those players Benitez had recruited into his own 'Melwood Academy'. When Benitez got his new contract and the control over the Academy he wanted, Eccleston, Amoo and Kacaniklic were all promoted into the reserve set up and all have made big strides since. Nathan was quickly amongst the goals in 2009/10, and was called into the 1st team squad for the Carling Cup tie at Arsenal, where he featured as a late substitute. He also made his Premiership debut as a late sub against Fulham. In January 2010 Nathan was loaned out to Huddersfield Town, and made an immediate impact by scoring the winning goal on his debut. He returned to Liverpool for pre-season in 2010 and was a regular in new boss Roy Hodgson's squads in the early weeks of the season. A low point for Nathan came against Northampton in the League Cup, when he missed a penalty at the Kop end as the reds lost a penalty shoot out to the league two side. His first start came in the Europa League clash with Utrecht at Anfield, where he acquitted himself well. With 1st team opportunities limited, Nathan was loaned out to Charlton for the remainder of the season where he scored three times in 19 appearances.
