Stopped drinking a while ago and I’m going to make it stick. Checking in tomorrow for a possible 10 week stint to finally get this monkey off my back. Hopefully it works. No WiFi, gulp.

What is your opinion on them? I have had bad experiences of them on a few occasions now. They seem more intent on harassing good working folk than actually catching criminals. They aren't all bad but I can understand why a large part of the population hates them.

I'm getting married tomorrow, can't wait.

..reading an article in the paper today about manners and etiquette. I think that things are changing and it's not seen as important or necessary anymore. Am I turning into my dad or have things changed since back in your day? I'm 27 by the way. I'm interested to see the difference in opinion from the various age groups from the GF massive.

I've stupidly locked myself out the house. Not a problem my local is quality and brews its own beer and everything. So I've de-camped for the evening till Cath gets home. Ideal. It's was going so well, reading the Guardian, few pints and a meat pie. Then our resident expert on everything has just walked in. Despite being dressed in the clobber Wurzel Gummage would reject and has a drinking habit to scare Alex Higgins in his pomp, with the most purplenose imaginable, he will tell you he was/is a foremost expert in everything. In the past he has explained propulsion systems of submarines, claimed expertise in chemical engineering, a self confessed expert on every sport, a sage of all current affairs, knows property law inside out and is an expert in fine art. He currently looking for someone to bore. Luckily I'm escaping his attention due to posting this. I await with baited breath to hear his words of wisdom tonight. I'll keep you posted on any whoppers he comes out with. Anyone else encountered the phenomena?

It's becoming farcicle. The attitude of some of the police in this city is an absolute disgrace and it is no coicidence I'll bet that they will take any kind of asshole into their ranks these days. "Section 5" this time. Apparently that is asking an officer to stop intimidating someone politely and then shaking your head in disbelief when they come across like Clint Eastwood. I'm torn this time whether to pay the fine. It happened on Church Street so there's an excellent chance it will be on CCTV and hopefully that will confirm I did absolutely nothing wrong other than suggest it didn't need multiple officers coming across in a threatening manner to a bloke who never does anyone any harm and just plays a few tunes for passers by. It has to be said that the Desk Sergeant this time was much more polite and understanding and acted with the diplomacy his colleagues lacked. I'm not bothered about the pain I am in due to heavy handed policing and sleeping on a cold cell floor all night (I say sleeping...) what I am angry about is my lack of rights and the way this is being viewed by people who weren't there i.e drunk kickoff jail. It seems manners, decorum and diplomacy are not necessary to be in the police these days, just some kind of inferiority complex which leads to excessive behaviour. Will I pay the fine? Well I'd like to see that CCTV footage first.

I've just sold my car and so want to buy another one. A couple I have looked at are SORN. Could I buy it and drive it home and then tax it next month - or is there no flexibility in the off road thingy?

Herbert Fandel was attacked by a Danish (Liverpool?) supporter after he sent off Christian Poulsen and awarded a penalty after he punched a Swedish player in the stomach. Swedes had been up 3-0, but at the time of the crazy fan incident it was 3-3 (!) Agger scored a goal, but it didn't count as the Swedes was awarded a 3-0 win because they stopped the game. But, what the hell is going on in Denmark these days? I remember the Danes to be calm nice happy people that spent half their time in the pub, but the last 5 years or so there seems to be a lot more negative news from the flat little country. Is the new right wing leadership to blame or is it all of the aggression that's been built up over the years?
