  1. E 'Liverpool the destination of Dossena 16.05.2008 15.08 di Francesco Letizia - Tuttosport E 'Liverpool team in absolute pole position to Andrea Dossena, side left dell'Udinese ambitissimo by many European clubs: the Reds have already reached agreement with the player during the trip that the agent Federico Pastorello has made in recent days past in England. In the next few hours could be even already signing the new contract with the club English: emissaries of manager Rafa Benitez have already established contacts with Udinese to burn the competition and forge the deal as soon as possible. Anyone seen him play?
  2. Why do I like the guy? There is something about him that makes me want to like him.
  3. Was cleaning up my HDD disc earlier to make some space. Bought it the day before our win over the Mancs, so those were the two first games I recorded (safe to say I've deleted a few of the games since...). Our players (and our new manager) should be made to watch those two games during this summer to see what a Liverpool performance should be about. The first half against Real actually gave me goosebumps at times! On a side note, Torres and Gerrard should look especially close at the Madrid game, and see if they can spot a difference between most of last season's efforts and the one they put in that night (before they hand in their transfer requests at least)...
  4. I am surprised there is no thread started yet, but it coresponds with meaning of this game. We shall play for our pride, for the people who´ll be at Anfield and to continue unbeaten run- Main thing to expect is Albert Aquilani in starting line-up. I wrote 2 -3 weeks ago that he will get match time in this game and not sooner knowing that Rafa has not the balls anymore. We should rest people who need rest, start first teamers that need to play and get a result. I would start : Reina ( Diego) Johnson Skrtel Agger ( Kyrgi) Dossena (Aurelio) El Zhar Masch Aquilani Riera Babel ( benny) Ngog Carra deserves a rest, Gerrard needs to be rested. Insua,Kuyt and Lucas deserve to be benched. Dossena should start and make some impression on Italian TV to get some intention for possible swap in January. With zero importance of this game this could be the team. I would also start Degen but he is not in CL squad. 2-0 win could make it.
  5. Rather than have a Brown and Cameron fest, any others? David Miliband gets on my tits. He's obviously only the foreign minister because he agreed not to rock the boat for Brown. Typical new labour, he tries to talk the talk but just comes across as a smarmy tennis-playing no-nothing toff, with too much shit in his brains and too much lead in his pants. And like most of them, always starts every answer to every question with "let me be absolutely clear about this..." before saying exactly - nothing. Next.
  6. Fair play to the lad as that means he loses any loyalty bonus etc as he's handed in a transfer request and he's not just warming the bench and taking our money for however many more years. Anything over 5 million is a good return considering his near awful season.
  7. Cant see this anywhere so apologies if posted already. Apparently he has asked for a transfer.. RTÉ Sport: Dossena wants to leave Anfield Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena seems destined for a return to Italy after asking manager Rafael Benitez for a transfer. The 27-year-old international left-back failed to establish himself after being signed as John Arne Riise's replacement in a £7million transfer from Udinese last summer. Dossena made just 12 Barclays Premier League starts and towards the end of the season was third choice behind Fabio Aurelio and young Argentinian Emiliano Insua. The Italian has told Benitez he would like to return to his homeland, with Juventus his preferred destination. 'Before coming back to Italy I talked to Benitez and explained to him my doubts,' he told Tuttosport. 'I told him I wanted to leave. He is an exceptional person and understood my problem. 'He told me that if they receive an offer that satisfies both the club and me, he will take it into consideration and try to facilitate my transfer. 'I would run to Juve. They showed interest in me last year, but then Liverpool stepped in and wrapped things up in less than an hour. 'Of course I would accept an offer. You're talking about one of the biggest clubs in Europe.'
  8. How many tickets were reissued for the Kop last night I wonder. I was in the Anfield rd end last night and the Kop looked rammed. All the stairways looked full and at half time it looked as though no one went for a piss as it stayed full. This scam seems to be growing with each European game.
  9. Walking home from a tiring, heavy day of workings I turned into the last alleyway that leads onto my street and what should I see? A MIDGET!!!! It's the one that lives down my road who I've always wanted to get to know. A midget friend would be fucking cool, imagine having an actual leprechaun standing next to you when at a party, in Asda's buying washing up powder, in the bookies, standing at the bus stop... The possibilties are endless. Anyway, back to the little one. Now she's standing at the end of the alley, I'm at the top. I actually hesitated for a second (which I think startled her a little bit, bless her) before making my way down. As I took each step my heartbeat grew faster and my mind searched for things to say to her, "Hey" or "Hello" or even "Happy Easter" but no, nothing seemed to fit. The panic grew just as more as the pure happyness in my heart of seeing it. I hear you urge me to tell you at the climax of this magical adventure and I completely lost my bottle. Didn’t even smile, acknowledge her in any way. I just kept walking like a cold hearted motherfucker and to be honest I'm a little (see what I did there) ashamed of myself. The poor thing was looking at me the whole time (well I am 6 Foot) and thus gave me an opening to speak to her by showing me her small kind magical kind face*. Having a midget friend will have to wait until we meet again *she did look a little retarded though, might have explained why she was out staring at strange menv in alleys What would all of you said to her
  10. Brazilian striker Adriano has been a square peg in a round hole at Inter Milan for some time, and his future at the San Siro is not being measured in years. But is he the sort of player who would fit into Rafa Benitez's title-chasing Liverpool squad? It seems unlikely; yet that is what some sections of the Italian media are speculating this morning. The question of the looming January transfer market is exercising the media, and according to Italian radio, Liverpool are ready to enter the race for the 'Emperor' with an £8 million bid. Leaving aside whether or not Adriano is the 'right' player for the Reds at the moment, given the excellence of Fernando Torres and the summer's heavy outlay on striker Robbie Keane, there is the issue of Liverpool's apparently strained finances. The club's American co-owners may succeed in getting a six-month extension on their debt repayments, which some sources say could make some £20 million available for the transfer kitty. Adriano, though, would swallow up a hefty chunk of that when his wage demands are factored in. After all, the lifestyle he has to support is not exactly that of a monk. Still, Inter clearly want to offload him, and it is claimed that at least five clubs are interested, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid. However, it is understood that the relationship between Inter coach Jose Mourinho and Adriano means a quick sale could be concluded, with the striker having the casting vote on which club he joins. It still seems unlikely that Liverpool would be sufficiently interested to enter a bidding war. Then again, stranger things have happened...
  11. Well the name wont mean much to you but he is a pundit on the local Global FM costa del sol radio station. Anyway on the football forum today he stated the FA lacked Balls and favoured Livepool over the incident on Monday and that there was a poor victim and family in Bulgaria who have suffered immensely Just thought Id put a non LFC view into the pot
  12. We really need to start to convincingly beat teams at home if we are to have any chance of winning the league. West Ham are a side that like to think they play free flowing attacking football, and it's something Zola has tried to get going there, but it isn't happening for them. This 'should' be the sort of game we win with ease. I just want to see us for once, play a team off the park, and knock a few goals past them. It would be great not only for the players, but the fans aswell. We have done superbly well, but our home form has not been anywhere near what we expect. I myself after managing to scrounge together £700 for a season ticket find myself wondering why when I see half arsed performances like last week. Anyway, no Torres and Aurelio is a big blow, but we should have too much for West Ham. Dossena will start inplace of Aurelio, and hopefully we will see Keane come in for Torres. I have a feeling Babel will start in place of either Mascherano or Riera, and possibly Sami coming in to deal with the aerial threat of Ashton (is he fit or injured?). Anyway, I would go with a 4-4-2, but I doubt we will see Babel and Riera both play together; ----------------------------Reina------------------------ -Arbeloa--------Carragher----------Agger--------Dossena- --Babel----------Gerrard-----------Alonso----------Riera-- ------------------Kuyt------------Keane------------------
  13. Well done last night Dossena. Showed positive attitude before the match admittinghis performances had been under par, and was ready to work hard. Brought the attitude to the match and did better than most had expected. One of the few things to take from this match
  14. Hey fellas, Ive got Guitar Hero 3 for xbox 360 and was wondering which of the new two music games is better? Any ideas?
  15. I read this in the metro this morning, and nearly burst out laughing. Then I sat there for 10 minutes just looking at it thinking who they actually meant, then i decided to get a picture of it so you guys can laugh and be confused too. Personally, I think it should have said 'Dossena doesnt deserve this position, and has his work cut out for him against anyone at all ever anywhere'
  16. Maybe a bit unfair here with Degen not even playing regulary yet, but in some ways I think Dossena and Degen maybe a step backwards in the fullback department. I might be wrong here but Rise gave more than his fair share of goals in his FKs and long throws whilst Finnan never gave less than his 100%. Dossena seems to be okay in the back and makes good crosses but will he contribute as much as Rise did? Finnan on the other hand was a servant and was always commited to the cause, to think that Degen was a free transfer makes me think that his club just wanted to offload him. To ask, did we take a step foward or a step back?
  17. Following on Woo's noted birthday wish on the good news thread, its JER's birthday today, so, Happy birthday JER. Its also Woo's bithday, so better give him a mention too. wouldn't want him feeling left out.. feel free to neg away, you know he likes it... Happy birthday Woo. ;)
  18. Isn't listed in our squad for CL qualifier according to uefa.com - Football Europe
  19. DOSSENA SIGNS FOUR-YEAR DEAL The Italian full-back becomes Rafael Benitez's second acquisition of the summer following the arrival of Swiss international Philipp Degen. Dossena, who has been capped once at senior level by Italy, is seen as the ideal replacement for John Arne Riise, who departed for Roma earlier this month. The 26-year-old began his career aged 14 with Hellas Verona in northern Italy, coming through the ranks before spending four seasons in the senior squad. His big break came when he signed for Udinese in 2005, though he was immediately loaned to Treviso FBC 1993 for a year. The defender returned to the Stadio Friuli ahead of the 2006-07 campaign, where his form eventually saw him make his international bow in a friendly against South Africa in October 2007. By the end of the season his move to Merseyside had been confirmed, with Dossena saying: "Liverpool are a great team, and it is great to be linked to such a famous club. I want to play Champions League football, the Reds have already won it and they often get to the big games. In England, they are on the same level as Manchester United." -finally
  20. I reckon I'd go for Jefferey Dahmer, showed some real hunger that lad. I did think about having a starting XI but thought thats a bit sick frankly. if you think not, I will PM my first XI.
  21. Have been away for a few weeks. A yes or no will do.
  22. Sorry if posted already guys.... Sky Sports | Football | Premier League | Liverpool | Dossena delight at Reds deal Andrea Dossena is delighted to become the first Italian international to play for Liverpool The Udinese left-back will complete his move to Anfield in the coming days after undergoing a medical on Merseyside earlier this week. Speaking exclusively to skysports.com, Dossena's agent Federico Pastorello revealed his client's delight at signing for Liverpool. "I understand he is the first Italian international to play for Liverpool - a great opportunity for him and he is really happy," Pastorello revealed. Dossena is expected to finalise his transfer in the next 48 hours before being unveiled by The Reds next week in a deal believed to be worth around £7million. "He had his medical on Wednesday and we are just awaiting the formalities of that but we would think everything will be signed very shortly," he continued. "An agreement between the clubs was hard, but we all found it and everything is now ready." The 26-year-old had a tremendous campaign with Udinese, which included his debut for Italy, and Pastorello admits Liverpool beat a number of clubs to seal his signature. "There were many teams interested in him," he confirmed. "He was the best left-back in Italy last year, arguably along with the boy [Juan]Vargas at Catania. "So it was natural that there will be interest in the best left-back in Serie A, but to have the chance to work with a coach like Rafa Benitez was something he could not turn down. "That was an important aspect of his decision and he cannot wait to get started."
  23. I was listening to a greatest hits type thing on the way down to work yesterday and I realised how much I like them. There are some awful tracks that have been done to death (we are the champions for one), but there are some humdingers. So, where do you stand on the issue. Black or white, no fence sitting.
