  1. I've just had a mate round to look at a small job I need doing on the house, he's a general builder but specialises in block paving and driveways. Anyhow we were chatting and he said that work is very quiet at the moment as there are a group of gypsies in the area who were offering people stupid prices to do driveways. They've been cold-calling his estate and this morning have done a job across the road from him at a good friends house. He's watched them do it and said that they've only dug out half the depth they need to, not 'whacked it' down enough, gone right up to the damp-course and to add insult to injury sent a bloke to his to borrow a spirit level (what kind of builder doesn't have a fucking spirit level?) . He thinks the jobs will last 6 months max before they start to look like shit. I suppose the question I'm asking is that if a group of complete strangers come round offering to undercut any quote by £2000 what kind of fucking idiot says yes? How many of those dodgy builder programmes does there have to be before people realise that if it sounds to good to be true it's generally too good to be true.
