  1. and given where we are right now that would be akin in achievement to winning the league and yet look at the reaction to a team with much more realistic and higher aspirations beating us soundly. Yes it was a shit performance there's no two ways about that but come on let's have a bit of perspective in regards to the bigger picture. I'm not getting into this "how many world class players" shit because the answers seem to change every week. What we have is 3 names that go on the team sheet every week if possible. Gerrard, Torres and Reina. That's it and that's not even close to good enough. No left back that can play out a season. A right back that can be hit and miss. No established center back partnership. No Holding midfielder, no width, no support striker, no strike partnership and very little depth. So taking all these FACTS into consideration can I ask why the fuck anyone on here thinks we should be a shoe in for fourth and that should we not make it it's Roy's fault when in the past if someone sneezed in mongolia it was a worthy excuse for the shot that just missed that would have turned those Rafa draws into wins. You can name any manager in the world and they would have a job coming 4th with our side, that's just the way it is and nothing will change until significant money is given to rectify the situation. A list of teams in a better situation than us to come top 4. Chelsea, United, City, Arsenal and Spurs, so what gives us the right to just expect fourth? Some people need a reality check because until we get new owners whoever is in charge is fucked. All I can hope from Roy is that he beats the fodder, has a go at the top sides (of which we are no longer one as the league will tell you from last year) and keeps our dirty laundry where it belongs behind closed doors, managing the club to the best of his ability and nothing else. Unlike some of the more deluded on here if we fight for fourth I'll be happy. If we don't get it I'll be gutted but the manner of the fight is more important to me. City will be one of the hardest away fixtures for ANY team given the strength and depth they have. Yes they've completely overspent but the solidity of that team along with its balance and how much better it can get means they haven't wasted money by their own accounts, just everyone elses. It hurt to lose to them but it's one game. Roy got it completely wrong and I don't care about Mascherano being a tit that is no excuse for 4-4-2 ever being employed in that game. Roy has a question to answer on that score, nothing else. Hopefully he learns from the game and moves on. Welcome to the real world.
