  1. From 2009 on LFC TV now. Brilliant and completely depressing to watch at the same time. We tore them apart. It's half time now.
  2. Oooh I've never started a match thread before. Villa played well away to Norwich but I still think that they're poor this season. 3-0. @LFCTS: According to Bib theory: Pepe, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Downing, Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Shelvey, Cole & Suarez
  3. ... what do you think will have changed greatly in the world? Any new technologies that will change the way mankind lives? 3rd world war will have kicked off? Any of our many resident conspiracy lunatics think we'll have made contact with aliens? I'll start with an easy one. Hermes will be celebrating his 131st birthday making him the worlds oldest man.
  4. TEACHER OF THE GAME The minority wanted him out of Anfield, but the majority will never forget him. "Veikkaaja" met with Rafael Benitez - a Liverpool legend with a burning desire to teach football. Q) You have not coached since December 2010. How have you spent your time since you left Inter? "I have a website, we wrote a book called 'Champions League Dreams' and created 'Global Coach', a program for football coaches. They can use it to prepare training sessions and to analyze games. I am also involved in my wife's foundation which helps local charities on Merseyside." Q) Does your move to Inter feel, now, like a mistake? "Maybe, if I had known then everything that I know about Inter know. I had to make a decision in that moment. Before we moved I talked with several Inter players about the way we can improve. It was perhaps the first time Inter did not sign any players during the summer for the coach. Why? Financial Fair Play - but they didn't say it to me beforehand. I was promised three players. Everything was agreed, but we didn't sign these players." Q) When you won FIFA Club World Cup, your second trophy with Inter, you criticised the management of the club. Did you want to get sacked? "If you promise something, you have to do it. It was very simple." Q) You also had some difficult times with management of Liverpool. Did your dream job ever make you unhappy? "I didn't have time to suffer or be unhappy because I was trying to fight for trophies and win. And at the same time we tried to defend the club. It was the main thing when the Americans put the dept on the Club. They then appointed a new Managing Director who was a... businessman." Q) Liverpool won amazing Champions League Final in Istanbul in 2005. How did Liverpool come back from 3-0 down against AC Milan? "We started with four at the back, so we were playing two against two in our defence as Milan played with a diamond formation. Our idea was to be better than them in the wide areas, have control in the middle and defend close. Plan was not working because Kaká was doing a great job. After half time we moved to a back three and put Dietmar Hamann on. From then on we were playing three against two in our defence and we controlled Kaká by playing Xabi Alonso and Hamann in front of our defence. We moved Steven Gerrard and Luis Garcia to play on both sides of Andrea Pirlo. In possession our centre backs had to be wide, and we got space in wide areas by switching the ball quickly." Q) How would you describe your football philosophy? "I like to play good football, but the problem is what people consider as good football! The answer is passing game of Barcelona and Spain. My team has always passed the ball and played short passes, but if there is space behind defender, you have to make a long pass. I like my team to play with high intensity, to press the opponent and to keep ball on the floor. Team has to be organized, but at the same time players need to be given freedom within the system." Q) How important is possession of the ball? "You have to have possession of the ball in the right places. And you need to do the right things with the ball with the right tempo. You can pass the ball and have a 85 percentage passing accuracy, but it doesn't matter. You need to have the ball in the final third." Q) Which is more important for you, winning or the process in itself? "You cannot say that winning is not the most important thing. Still, its also important how you approach the upcoming challenge and the game. And also how you approach the style you want your team to play. Balance is the key. You have to find a way to win, you need to find a way. You have to have a plan A, B and C." Q) You got more goals and assists out of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres than any other coach. Why? "I'm coming from the Academy of Real Madrid, I have a degree in Physical Education, I am a teacher. I coached them in a way I wanted and expected them to play in games." Q) How important are the automatization and the patters of attacking play? "As a coach your job is to prepare the training sessions that give players the answers they will need during a game. You have to give them patterns of play, solutions, ways to attack. I want to teach my players, but the player must also understand why he is being asked to do something. Asking questions is the right way to learn." Q) Your coaching colleague and countryman Juanma Lillo has said that "importance of the coach is limited". Do you agree? "If a player has talent, he will find a way - but not all the players have that kind of talent. These are the players that need to be conducted. Its the coaches job: You have to have answers when your players have questions. If you have the right answers, players will trust their coach and do things in a way he wants. Then you can change things during games. Its important to be close to the game and the players, but yet remain on the outside." Q) Are you misunderstood in England? "I think majority of the people understand now that we were trying to compete in Liverpool in difficult circumstances against top sides - with a smaller budget than they had. They know now - after having watched Liverpool during these past two seasons - how difficult it was to keep the team in Champions League every year. Maybe we even overachieved." Q) Does your former protege Sami Hyypia have the potential to develop into a top-class coach or manager? "He is very clever and a very good professional who is good at analyzing the game. Sami has all the potential to become a good coach. I offered to extend his contract for a year and a place in my backroom staff." Q) Did you consider selecting Hyypia to your starting eleven in his farewell game as a Liverpool player? "I think I put him on at the end of the game, no? I tried to give him a tribute from the fans at the end of the game, but the main thing was trying to win the game. I had to think about what was our best team for that game. If I can help somebody after that, I will do it." Q) What are the most important things for you when deciding your next project? "Ambition. Challenge. As you can now see face to face - I like to win. I want to go to a place were I can improve things and challenge." Q) You have said that being a coach is your life, your identity. What makes you happy? "Before I just wanted to be good at my job but now I'm spending more time with my daughters. I enjoy when they are doing well and my wife achieves something. You need to have a balance in life. I was just coming with the family London, but I still watched a game on our way back."
  5. According to the Swedish commentators in El Classico Pep Guardiola wants to manage a team in EPL and he prefers Liverpool. But Mourinho wants to be in EPL as well and he has said he likes Liverpool as well.... So, who would you prefer, Pep or Moureen?
  6. 'Roger sez', I was told this will make up for yesterday so I fully expect this to lose aswell.
  7. Hi all, after the performance of ourselves at Anfield, never mind the players, I feel a tad ashamed to be a supporter tonight, the abuse some of our own are giving Kenny, the abuse some of our own are giving to the likes of Henderson, Carroll, Spearing etc etc is sickening. I'm fed up with it and I believe it's time to create a change, I've been having a few discussions with KopiteWD about the atmosphere at the ground, we both feel that we as the supporters need to try and either revive RTK or create a new group altogether (which would probably be a good idea). Something along the lines of what Celtic are doing with their 'Green Brigade'. KopiteWD from RAWK has suggested meeting up during the month of April (as many people as possible, would love 50 or so for a first meeting) for a reserve match or possibly a pre season game and bring along banners, flags, scarves, the works and from there try to create some form of recognised group, similar to how Spirit of Shankly are recognised amongst LFC fans, from there, hopefully we can grow in numbers and get some sort of contact going within the club, again similar to what the Green Brigade have with the Celtic board. Only putting this out as a feeler to see what people think as the last RTK thread has seemed to die a quick death. Please do not turn this thread into a Scouser vs OOT debate, it's not what's needed and it's not how we are going to resolve the problems we are suffering at the minute. I tried to get my Kenny/Suarez banner into the Anny Road end but the stewards weren't having it. Wrote by Scud02 on Rawk, Just helping advertise it too see who would be interested in helping :santa:
  8. Got a flag at St.andrews saying something along the lines of not wanting Rafa to take over there. He's better off out of it anyway if you ask me, he'd be gone by Christmas
  9. Confident. I know we'll probably match them selection wise and approach it cautiously but I really think we should throw all plans to contain them out the window and just go all out. Fuck them, let them worry about us. There are serious limitations to this Manc side. The best way to play against them is to attack and put them on the back foot as we showed a couple if years ago sticking 4 past them. City went there and hit 6. Newcastle and Chelsea have put 3 past them. They are vulnerable. We won't, but I'd love to see us go shit or bust with our selection and go at them from the off all guns blazing Pepe Johnson Skrt Agger Enrique (Kelly/Fabio if injured) Stevie Speo Henderson Suarez Carroll Bellamy I really believe we could dry bum the cunts and slaughter them, they're a poor outfit as Manc sides go. The keeper is a bag of shit, their defence is shit, their central midfield is ancient and shit. Ferguson knows we have got the beating of them. He has been gobbing off again about racism today. Rooney had his dig the other night. Add the FA Evea stitch up and Kenny's team talk is written. Let's smash the Manc cunts. 3-0
  10. Liverpool Reserves are in action today when they take on Blackburn Rovers at the Academy. You can watch the whole game live on LFC TV and LFC TV Online from 1.30pm. When the two sides met back in October the game finished goalless so we'll be hoping for a better game this time round. With the NextGen Series quarter final clash against Tottenham at White Hart Lane a week away, Rodolfo Borrell's side will be looking to get a confidence boosting victory to take into the game. Kick-off in Kirkby is at 2pm but join our coverage starts from 1.30pm when Claire Rourke is joined live at the Academy by Kop legends David Fairclough and Gary Gillespie for the best build-up to the game.
  11. doubt Jay will make it with a hamstring injury which is a blow but even if he is potentially available probably wouldn't risk him with some big games coming up, plus Stokes centre mid isn't particularly creative so we should be able to handle it, Bellamy probably won't start either, not enjoyed Dirk's performances this season but could be his sort of game and always best to play Stoke with two up top ------------Pepe------------- Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique Maxi----Henderson--Stevie--Downing ----------Kuyt----Carroll------------ subs Doni Carra Coates Kelly Adam Shelvey Bellamy
  12. anything less than 3 points against these Chicken fuckers would be massively shite -------------Pepe------------- Johson---Skrtel---Agger---Enrique Maxi------Jay----Adam---Bellamy ---------Carroll---Suarez--------
  13. This season, has been onnes of highs and lows, and we arent even at the half way point yet, so no doubt there are still several of both left to come. From what I have seen this year, I have been please generally, like many. Yes ofcourse there are still some issues like the "Carroll problem" or the lack of finishing teams, but what I have seen has made me really positive for the future. This season, I unfortunately do not see us getting top four, and the ONLY reason for that, is that we do not scre enough. However, this season we have the best defence in the league, and that is despite the 4-0 vs Spurs when we were down to 9, so that shows just how good this defence is, and it will only improve IMO. For these reason, I honestly am 100% that next season, we will finish top 4, and I dont say that in hope, I say that with 100 confidence, and even further, I think we can challenge for the league next season, as I think we are only one top class striker and one top class wide player/playmaker away from really going for the league. Look at this season, we tend to win 1-0, draw 0-0, lose 1-0. There is such fine margins, and the addition of even just one top class triker who can put these chances away would make all the difference, and add to that it will be a season where Hendo has more experience, Suarez will be getting even better, Adam will accustomed to playing for us, and Carroll will be a year older and Gerrard will hoepfully be fit. Some might think Im crazy suggesting we can win the league next year, and that its just another"this is our year " comment, but I honeslty believe it, one top class goalscorer and those 1-1 at Sunderland, 1-1 with Norwich, 0-0 with Swansea and draws with UTD and City turn into wins, those are the margins of being where we are and being possibly as much as 10 points better off when you think about stoke and fulham aswell. I reckon this season, Kenny will realise that, if I can then someone as good a manager as Kenny damn sure will, and I honestly cannot see us not finishing top 4 next season, and believe me, I am not writing off this season, a couple of additions in January, and the return of our captain, and who know what can happen, just look at the run last season when Kenny came in. YNWA.
  14. I think we need a striker in January. Dave said we have hit the woodwork 14 times already this season. We have seen Downing, Carroll, Kuyt, Henderson and Suarez all miss far too many easy chances. Only Bellamy and Maxi seem to be clinical at the moment. So who can we feasibly get? Anelka? - Short term option. Torres? - Would you want him back? Would Kenny? Henry on loan? MLS seaosn is finished. Soldado? Higuian? WHO? If this team had a Fowler, Owen, Torres or Rush in their pomp we'd easily be top four.
  15. my biggest thought ahead of this game is do we bring in Henderson or Spearing for Lucas, people will say Jay isn't good enough to play regularly but he has never let us down and deserves a chance but I think against Fulham we shouldnt need an out and out holding mid, any sign of a return for Stevie? -------------Reina----------- Johnson--Skrtel---Agger--Enrique Maxi---Henderson--Adam--Downing ---------Suarez--Bellamy---------
  16. needs to be 3 points from this game and I reckon the best way to get them is to really attack them ------------Pepe------------- Kelly---Carra-----Agger--Enrique ----Henderson-Adam--Stevie----- Bellamy--------Carroll-------Suarez subs Doni Skrtel Johnson Spearing Maxi Downing Kuyt
  17. i know its only tuesday but i cant seem to think about anything else, massive massive game this one for us.if we lose i think loads of people will be throwing their toys out the pram, and the media will be on our backs already.also the table wont look too pretty.possibly 8 points behind the mancs after 5 games. spurs have loads of players injured at the moment, dawson, van der vaht ,lennon to name a few. hopefully ledley king wont be able to play. if we play like we did at arsenal and at stoke i think we will win, we can play much better than we did at stoke, but if we have the same amount of possesion i think we will get the 3 points. reina flanagan, carra, agger, enrique bellamy, lucas, adam, downing suarez , carroll 1-2 LFC
