  1. I remember getting ready for school. I don't know, must have beed around 7 y/o. Mam always had Terry Wogan on in the morning and "After the Goldrush" was a track good 'ole Tel played, but by a band called "Prelude". Loved it. When I heard Neil play it and subsequently learned that he wrote it, I was taken to another dimension.
  2. Harvest is like a harbinger. I listened to it in my late 20's and connected with it as a young man. That was back in 2000. Now as a considerably older man, the words that were relevant then, are only more so now. An album to accompany one through life. It's relevance never dissipates. Never will.
  3. The Conjuring 2. Late to the party on this one. Good old fashioned scares and good acting I thought. 7/10.
  4. Oh c’mon. Let it go. It’s OK to beg to differ and that’s fine. But there is a confluence of irrefutable evidence to support Brucie’s contribution. I do agree he stayed too long, but at his peak? You have to admit that Bob, Joe and Kenny weren’t soft enough to tolerate any player that would have possibly jeopardized the teams success.
  5. In terms of your last paragraph- which is spot-on, Kenny didn’t and doesn’t, suffer fools.
  6. The reverence in which the like of Shilton was held, was always befuddling to me. The bloke was basically as mobile as a house-brick, compared to Brucie when their careers crossed. Ok Shilton was getting on by then, but even at his peak with Forest, I think he paled in comparison to Brucie at his peak. Brucie was a different animal. Different generation and brought a new dynamic.
  7. Brucie was polarizing for some. I kind of get that. However, I’ll always cite the save from Graeme Sharp in the 86 cup final as a prime example of his brilliance. The athleticism of that save is rarely seen, even today. And I don’t want to hear about it only being necessary because he was out of position. The only reason he was out of position was because Jockie uncharacteristically hoofed it across the front of his own 18 yard box, and Brucie’s recovery was out of this world.
  8. I agree on the taking risks. He was a trailblazer back then and his good, far and away outweighed the bad.
  9. Can’t abide the inane, smiling, snide, tedious, uninformed, useless, little dick-splash. Is he in that “smackable face” (or whatever the fuck it’s called), thread yet?
  10. I agree that he outstayed his time here, but I wouldn’t call him a bum. After the initial (consistent) gaffes, he settled down and did OK in between. You can also look back and find some absolute worldies he made. Soured me a bit with the fixing allegations, but on balance, I personally look back at Bruce with a certain degree of fondness.
  11. I don’t know if I’m scrambling for excuses, but when times get tough and I’m scrambling for answers, I personally would like to consider the facts, rather than be emotional about it (easier said than done on my part)... - Lost our center-backs - players out of position. - stand-in center-backs now injured. - bereavement. - COVID. Pretty tough challenges for any group of people to take in. And each set of circumstances have exacerbated the prior problems. I can take a bad season, the kicker is whether the club and the owners recognize this with necessary investment in the summer. If they do, we can rebound from a clear confluence of bad luck and circumstances. The concern is, whether they will act.
  12. https://images.app.goo.gl/yccxbVgDmj37S3ik9 This is the business.
  13. Thank you for that. The spring is coming, lighter and longer days and hopefully we are past this bump in the road soon. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.
  14. Good points. We will be back. Football isn’t the be all and end all for most people, so it depends on any individual’s paradigm. Not to sound “boo hoo”, but there are other things that make this a low period for me and the team’s temporary dip, due to a lot of mitigating factors, probably has me classing this as my low, as my perspective overall isn’t most positive at present. I do look forward with hope and quite some belief that when we get our long term injured folks back, we will be hungry to prove a point and that next season will be a totally different story.
  15. If you look at this from a pure football perspective, you are right about the Hodgson years. Perhaps It’s just a general apathy I have at the moment with everything else going on that colours my response of “this year”.
  16. This season. No crowds, injury list, shit punditry/commentary, covid. Feels empty and surreal.
  17. It’s a tough situation. I live in the US and my Dad is in his last stages of cancer in the UK. I went back last October. Quarantined for two weeks. Spent the second two weeks with him. It’s tough when a parent is ebbing, but there’s a time for preparedness. You can make your peace. Unexpected loss is much crueler. Especially in these times. My heart goes out to Alisson. God Bless Fella.
  18. I still don't fucking know how I contrived to post that fucking thread twice.
  19. Never a penalty. I'm hanging on to the depth of the injury list as the reason for our decline, but for me, the front three are just phoning it in now.
  20. Hope Pickford is absolutely humiliated in this. And twatted. Several times.
  21. 1. Dalglish 2. Gerrard 3. Suarez 4. Van Dijk 5. Rushie.
  22. Double-posting Blert first impression on my part. I did myself no favours.
