Eisenhower knew, if anyone has ever heard his speech when leaving the presidency.

News.
- At least three sons and three grandchildren of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh killed in Israeli air attack on Gaza refugee camp.
- Haniyeh says that Palestinian leaders will not back down if their families are targeted by the Israeli army, and that the killings will not affect Hamas’s demands in ceasefire talks.
Chances of it happening are very slim, but just imagine the fury and mayhem if Hamas managed to take out members of the Israeli cabinet's family, or worse even Netanyahu.
They sure as hell wouldn't remain at the negotiating table.

I heard the Franco-Prussian war of 1870/1871 depleted gold reserves around the continent, and inadvertently led to Everton struggling to pay the rent on Anfield a decade later.

People who make a song and dance in public places because they've got a kid.
Make way, make way, drop what you're doing, person with kid in pram coming through, I'll require access to baby changing facilities and for you to smile/laugh at my kid when it pukes, shits, or says "hiya" for the 19th time while you're having your brew. My husband (who looks exactly like Gareth Southgate) is just behind me with a ruskcack containing spare nappies.
Who are you fucking Clive Owen? Go away, go.
Gervais isn't everyone's cup of tea but this scene sums this up quite well

I stumbled across a documentary on BBC iPlayer last night about the Mull of Kintyre Chinook crash in 1994, that wiped out virtually all of the senior NI security apparatus from MI5, RUC and the Army.
Seasoned Special Forces pilots, one of whom was on the Bravo Two Zero operation in Iraq, apparently flying too fast and too low in fog.
The pilots' gross negligence initially found to be the cause, but there were serious flaws in the Chinook HC2 variant and eventually by 2011 the original decision was overturned. It was implied that there has been a cover up of the proportions of Bloody Sunday and Hillsborough, and that the official records into the inquiry won't be released until 2094.
Not massively relevant to the current situation over there, but recommended viewing for anyone interested in the history of the conflict.

My Dad used to work for Higson's/ Threlfalls in the 70s and 80s. Said the Caradoc was a great pub back then, full of hardworking dockers and internationally renowned.
The fact he hasn't been in since speaks volumes though.

Never been in despite being a local, but not surprised in the slightest given its reputation!
Edit - I got twatted over the head with a pool cue when I was 16/17 in the Queens, on Knowsley Road though. Great times!

Had two fried eggs on seeded toast. Impeccable yolks, salt and coarse black pepper. Dollop of ketchup on the side.
Simple, tasty and surprisingly filling.

Just watched The Zone of Interest. Went in with high expectations and it didn’t disappoint. An absolute harrowing, unique take on the holocaust. Was absolutely brilliant and would really recommend finding a cinema showing it if you can. The sound is what drives a massive chunk of the film and anything other than a cinema will do it a disservice.
Been waiting for some free time to go and see this, just booked tickets for the Everyman in town. Really looking forward to it, if that's the right term.

You disappeared off the forum after I offered to meet you last time.
Doesn't that make you the same kind of shithouse, you fucking hypocrite? I’m up in town next weekend. Offer still stands. Williamson Square, outside the club shop.
I'll be in the Shiraz just in case this happens.

I've done 2 online courses in the last year. One for doing 55 in a 40 on the M62 and the other for doing 35 in a 30. If they're different offences you can do more than one course within the time frame, but repeat the same offence and it's an instant fine and 3 points.
